After a bug in the Open Watcom OS/2 resource compiler has been fixed (imagine that – they still fix bugs related to OS/2! 🤯💚), I was able to make some more progress with the OS/2 GUI version of my little disk usage tool. It now has a menu bar and a dialog to open another directory:

The video includes the ZMODEM transfer process of the 50 kB .EXE file from my laptop. It’s a bit lengthy, but I kept it in for nostalgia. 😅
Next up is probably multithreading: Do the disk scanning in a background thread so the UI doesn’t freeze. (This is running on a Compact Flash card, a real hard disk would be much slower.)

That's a bitter, but true résumé. I'm pretty sure that I first heard of the Saharan air layer only a few years ago. I would be very surprised if my knowledge is more than a decade old. At least it's been a thing since July 1997. :-D I wouldn't be surprised if this goes on for thousands of years. The German Wikipedia article on that matter doesn't explicitly say anything about the time scale, but reading it my assertion corroborates. There is a recorded event in the year 1901.
The kick is, if you want to borrow money, all interests are super high (10%+). You can't "borrow to invest " in a savings account.

Wrote a little wrapper script that lets me use T in DOSBox as a generic editor. Works with twtxt, too! 😆 Only downside is that I can’t use X11’s copy-and-paste. 🤣

If they also produce an income in the form of a distribution or dividend, that that's even better. YOu can have some tax benefits too if you do it right. But the trap? (I think) is falling into this false sense of security of thinking you can leverage up to the bank's LVR (Loan to Value Ratio) only to get caught up. Best to be conservative so you can take the wild swings and obviously diversity.

@bender No I meant like a "savings account" 🤣 You guys (us) are lucky I guess? A savings account here in Oz barely gets you 0.35%pa to 1.5%pa depending on how much money you have in it (0-$10k, $10-20k, $20-$30k, up to $50k)

@prologic now you are trolling. LOL. Highest savings (or CDs) around here renders around 5%. No one is going to lend you money at that interest rate, or less, like, ever.
@prologic can you be more specific? Arguably, borrowing to buy real estate might be worth it. Buying a successful, established, business might be worth it. Both are incoming producing assets.
