@off_grid_living pax vobiscum, saecula saeculorum!
@aelaraji interesting you mention this, because I have the same approach. Even on the machines I control, I tend to prefer mainly text over anything bigger.

I make exceptions on twtxt.net every once and then because I know @prologic has an in-house, multi-terabyte solution begging to be used. ๐Ÿ˜‚
Why so many Linux distributions come with Gnome as their default desktop environment? What makes Gnome so great? It has been a resource hog, in my experience.
@tkanos it seems you are the perfect candidate to test it, then. Go for it, and bring us the good--hopefully--news! ๐Ÿคฃ

@prologic Cool, simplification is gold. Non-existent code is the best code. :-)

@prologic nah, they are fine, in my opinion.
@bender yeah, I think so as well. Hell I can't even get myself to upload much media files on the fedi-platforms knowing they'll be hosted out of someone else's pocket, someone with no ROI in mind but other's freedom of expression.

@prologic I think this would impose a burden on resources to poderators, unless the cache is deleted automatically after a configurable period of time.
@bender What multiplexer do you use? I usually use Tmux and have my prefix mapped to C-a on my local machine and the default C-b on the remote ones so they don't conflict if it helps.

Alacritty doesn't support TABs. Running a multiplexer locally doesn't work well when you run another on your remote session. Uuuuuuugh! Nothing is ever perfect.
I fully support "small scale" and "slow" here. I think if you're going to be successful at "self hosting" that's kind of the design and architecture you need to go for IMO.

@aelaraji Me neither. I did a bit of research but couldn't find anything. So if we created something, it'd have to be our own thing I think.

@aelaraji Would there be any standard way of indicate this behavior at all that you're aware of? Any special way of linking the image? Or something? Hmmm ๐Ÿง

@aelaraji Ahh cool! Thank you ๐Ÿ™ FWIW yarnd has a built-in feature similar to this too where an operator (_what we call a poderator_) has to "whitelist" domains that _may_ serve images before it'll render them inline at all (_to prevent abuse_).

@prologic I wouldn't mind that for the bigger images, although, my main problem is with the scrappers and other platforms that nuke my RPi whenever I post a link out there... yes! I mean Mastodon ๐Ÿ˜†

BTW! I've just white listed twtxt.net ... you should be able to see the embedded image by now.

@prologic it's a Clownflare option to prevent images on your website from being embedded on other websites. It helps with my low bandwidth resources. And I believe you can set-up similar rules with Nginx, I'm just too lazy to do it manually RN.

I just realized, this is the last Saturday of the month. So Yarn.social meetup is up again tomorrow. Same time as last time if anyone is interested/around to join and hang out!

@aelaraji not inconvenience at all. Just something out of the ordinary. :-) I thought it might have been a jenny's bug, only reason I brought it up. LOL.
@off_grid_living hmm, are we talking about the same "GOD"?

> " When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. And you may use the plunder the Lord your God gives you from your enemies.

๐Ÿค” or...

> "However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them"

Is that him? Empowering and wise, indeed.

@bender My index formatting is intact, probably because I still haven't figured out how to set up my terminal to show RTL text correctly! ๐Ÿ˜… but hey, that won't be a problem anymore, I don't feel like twting in Arabic. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@lyse isnโ€™t it great? I remember when email, and Usenet threads were always like that. Alas, came Google, Microsoft, heck, even Apple doesnโ€™t do threading anymore, and things started to go down the drain since.
