@david@prologic my guess is he may have been using an e.164 number from a sip carrier on his account, rather than a mobile number, and the bird got mad.
@prologic Personally, I really like to try new things, even if they aren't the _best_ solution. I'd love to see more of an ecosystem fleshed out for Linux and standardised so it can be incorporated across the board, but that will takes years upon years and capital to get to a good state.
@mutefall I think the only other viable option for OSINT is Google Voice, but they require you to have a US phone number (unsure why but haven't looked into it). I think a solution that doesn't have this requirement would be infinitely more useful.
Really hoping for a phone with a Linux-based OS on it that doesn't have outdated hardware by at least 4 years. Tricky because that'd be expensive to build for a small market share. Best hope is to flash Ubuntu Touch, or something similar, on an old Samsung, I think.
@justamoment Gotcha. Will have to explore JS at some point.
Yeah, I've kinda parked the iframe for now but I'll loop back to it. Trying to decide whether I want to use an iframe or construct static pages with CSS π€
@justamoment I sure am looking to make the whole desktop with pure CSS, and will be adding a bunch more apps on the taskbar as well. I might just make all the icons open up a functional app π
@justamoment I'll either redesign or end up just manually creating a static image of a webpage without the functionality of changing tabs. Not a huge issue. I'll end up using it to display the start menu when the windows button is clicked though (already started on this).
@justamoment Hit a tad bit of an bump in the road. The tabs aren't working very well with .tab-a:checked ~ .content-a { display: block; } because (I think) the iframe has a different parent to the tabs. Might need to redesign that π€
@justamoment this little project will also be CSS only, so I won't be touching javascript with in this one, plus I don't actually know javascript at all, so would need to learn it first haha
A bit more work done. Planning to have a replica of my browser on here, and maybe(?) clickable tabs that change what webpage it's on. A lot of work, but I'm having fun! π€ͺπ
@prologic yessir! Looks good, quick fix for our dreadful looking courtyard and makes it usable for the little one. The cat is also enjoying the grass, so that's a plus π
@prologic Yeah, I think the Ukraine situation has really made him rethink his position. Definitely just one miss step in a sea of good that he's done. 200+ Russian people were arrested in St Petersburg for protesting, so there definitely is internal backlash, which is very relieving IMO.
@prologic He's just admitting that he was wrong to be so pro-Russia and telling people that Russia wouldn't needlessly invade another country, is all. Thought it was a little funny, but doesn't devalue his efforts towards privacy.
@carsten couldn't agree more. Russia would also use it to their advantage and coerce their own citizens into believing their propaganda. We also wouldn't get any insights into what may happen/be happening in Russia as well.
@carsten never heard of mailbox.org before. What are the German officials like when dealing with requests from foreign governments to hand over data? I personally have been using paid protonmail for quite a while now and love it!
@prologic Snowden has been very outwardly pro-Russia prior to the star of the Ukraine invasion. As soon as it started, he went silent for 3-4 days. He usually tweeted once a day, at least.
A few days ago, Edward Snowden tweeted this after days of silence following Russia beginning the Urkaine invasion. At keast he knows he could it wrong π
Finally getting the courtyard sorted at our tiny house sorted out and looking a bit nicer. Will post before and after shots once done π Glad to finally get this under way.
@prologic I think it's finally time. I'm going to learn how to manually create a SVG image. I feel like this is going to be one hell of a learning curve π
I figured out the issue where changes in a Github Repo don't quickly reflect on Github Pages. It can sometimes hang on trying to find a free machine to run the build and deploy workflow. Simply cancelling the workflow and restarting it moving though! ππ
@prologic I meant more the helping from the community and businesses π I couldn't imagine being effected by a flooding event. They're pretty unheard of on this side of the country, at least not on a large scale.
π₯³ Welcome home! Glad nothing is damaged for you. I hope for the same for your neighbours and hope those effected are able to get everything sorted out quickly π
@prologic I hope for that outcome as well. I also hope that Putin's Russian political opponents stop "going missing" when they run against him for Presidency.
@prologic Yeah, I'm definitely joking. Given Russia's track record with flexing their nuclear capabilities, it's not likely they will resort to using that amount of force, however Belarus is an unknown for me. They're looking to grow a nuclear capability.
Belarus has joined Russia in the invasion of Ukraine. This whole thing seems to be ramping up a bit, I just hope they stop targeting urban areas and killing civilians (especially children).
@prologic plus side is that Russia already isn't able to receive money via SWIFT and Bitcoin's value dropped 3-4k USD when they announced they would use it instead of the plummeting ruble. There will probably always be an exchange that is willing to service Russia though π

@mutefall less landfill makes for a happier planet π I've also got a few Raspberry Pi's floating around that I could use as well, but thinking of using one as a web hosting server instead.
@mutefall I'm over in Perth, Western Australia. My pod runs on a tower PC with just bits and pieces thrown together π I'm currently running it out of an office owned by my parents and my dad's offered to replace the PSU if needed, thanks for the offer though! π
@prologic I fully agree however we need our world leaders to push this as well. Unfortunately, the reality is someone will be fighting to perpetuate their ideology across the world or wanting to take resources by force, so I don't see this happening in our lifetime at the least.
One other thing I'd like to see come from this war, but likely won't, is Western countries supporting countries like Ukraine against foreign governments seeking to invade _before_ it's a full blown war. I feel that's a major weakness for the West at large.
@carsten Perks of globalisation, we pay money for goods from people that may not have the best intentions. I'm hoping there's something that can be done to get Putin to back down but I'm thinking he might be too proud and stubborn to do so π
@prologic unfortunately, I think there'll always be someone fighting for more and more power over others. If I had more skills geared toward offensive or defensive cyber security, I'd be helping Ukraine any way I can.
@prologic if you go high enough up the rank, they'll pull another NSW Police and get their anti-terrorism units to go after you for "harassment" ππ¬
@prologic This is one hell of a slippery slope! Even if they have the best of intentions, it's very easy to see this being abused. I hope no one starts trolling on my pod otherwise I might be liable π
@david For this particular one (Lost Ark) it's been extremely popular in the East, and I've been having a lot of fun so far. All about what you want out of a MMORPG really
On the surface level, it's not bad. I haven't really had a deep look tbh, had some other things occupying me recently (the MMORPG Lost Ark just had a Western release today π₯³)
@prologic the role is Cyber Security Consultant with EY in their GRC team. Very small team (I'll be the 3rd consultant) which is great, but I could be waiting some time for it all to be finalised, so I'm not counting it as getting the role just yet π
Just got feedback (unofficial) that the 2 interviewers have given me the green light. Now to just wait until they sort out some internal issues and they can approve the position π trying not to get too excited until I sign, but looking very positive!
@xuu I would say so. The interviews were fine honestly. 30ish mins, booked for an hour. Just waiting up to 2 weeks to hear any feedback or if you're progressing is pure agony π
@prologic Thanks! Yeah it is kinda long but the recruitment process is longer atm because "WFH". I won't question it just yet π Hopefully it'll be shorter, but if hearing back the first time is anything to go by...
@prologic Yo! A couple q's about zs when you get a moment. When I want to build a site from a repo, do I just do zs build from the repo directory? Does it automatically publish to port 80?
Afternoon! Hope everyone is doing well. Been a bit absent the last few days π¬ Got my Pfizer COVID booster shot yesterday and I'm once again quite sick from it. Silver lining: I'll be fine for work Monday π
Anyone have any recommendations for a good Linux Mobile distro that supports the Razer Phone 2? Been looking at some like Ubuntu Touch, but sadly it's not supported.
