@Codebuzz That's what I figure as well, thus my robot.txt looks like that:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /
Allow: /$*
IRCCloud is shareware and proprietary :(. Free period only two weeks and after your connection disabled after two hours of inactivity. Maybe Quassel or TheLounge is better?
Currenly im use senpai in Termux and soju from p.psf.lt
@sorenpeter I started out with Konversation (KDE IRC client) but then moved to weechat over a decade later or so. I just like the terminal. In both setups I was just online when my computer was running.
Recently, @bender made me finally switch to weechat in a tmux session on my server: tmux new -s irc and then run weechat inside. On my local computer I then simply attach to that session, even got an alias for that: alias irc='ssh -t isobeef tmux attach -t irc' I'm now basically online 24/7 and can skip over the new messages in the backlog by hand when I start my local computer. :-D
I'm very happy with that. Can't imagine ever going back right now. I'm also wondering why it took me all those years to finally make the small step. Happy IRCing!

@slashdot Ugh, do we really need more brainrot, even if it is more open? 😅
it literally does, but i'll leave it as a mystery for you ponder.
its offline atm, but my usual setup basically makes my xmpp server into a bouncer (biboumi) and my xmpp client just does its normal thing to read the irc backlog as server-side message history.
@bender Yeah I mostly read IRC backlogs on mobile, very rarely talk per se 😅

@sorenpeter I can IRC on mobile, but I choose not too. It is not as easy as when using a desktop computer.

Nice. Will this be the place to slowly build a better documentation and explaining some of the considerations for people who use and/or start using twtxt?
We cannot bulletproof it, no matter which solution we use. If somethings changes, most likely something breaks. However a Nick+Timestamp is fairly unique hash, even if someone for whatever reason had the same nick. For display nick@url would make that unique and recognizable again.
What are peoples #IRC setup? Do you have your own bouncer server or just have a you computer always on? And do you IRC on mobile?

🤣 Indeed. It's like using disallow is only pointing them to look for more stuff to index. Those few kB's for a twtxt file, meh.. shouldnt even be a discussion.

Well for iPhones 15 Pro and 16 Pro Max, and all on the 16 line.
iOS 18.1 is out. It brings the beginning of Apple Intelligence.
@prologic Yeah, that’s what I don’t understand about this behavior. Once you put up a web server on the internet, you’ll be hit by *so many* bots instantly – the few hits on my twtxt file hardly matter … 🤷

For .onion gophersites you can install Orbot App on android for VPN, than go by lynx or overbite app to gopher://magical.fish, then you can open the .onion site of magical.fish.

pretty good even though it was exhausting. kept the tempo pace at what i thought it would be (between 8:30 - 8:45) and the heart rate stayed mainly aerobic but within the range i had hoped for (171 - 179).

@prologic no, no, I haven't said anything about turning of smartypants! That would be a step backwards, right? I mean, 1/4 is the way to represent a fraction, so its rendering is right spot on.
@aelaraji To be honest I thought the same too, I felt as though you were being a bit too harsh on yourself 😅 Chill 🤗

@bender True, I'm just not sure we can have it both way? 🤔 I can turn smartypants off, but I do seem to recall you wanted it on 🤣

@movq @bender Oh yeah, cool, thanks! Wow, the number of strings picked up a lot over time.
@lyse the name of the instrument is Guzheng. She is amazing, wow! @movq, she never shows her face, it is her artist's "signature" behaviour.

@prologic right, but that uses code/pre. Don't get me wrong, whatever works, it works.

I never thought about it.
I agree. The idea of twtxt is to be an 'open' format or standard. Regarding how often, the TTL could (should?) be honored, but open means open.

@falsifian hmm, Smartypants does that. I am not sure there is a way to escape it. One could write “1 of 4”, or 1 / 4 (not sure how this last will render).
@aelaraji let me come to the defence of Aelaraji here, and make clear that they are not a “piece of shit”! 😊
