@deadguy @felixp7 To be honest I _think_ Email is a poor substitute for the Web-based Pull Request code review tooling we've gotten so used to. Gogs and Gitea have it, so I personally would just ust one of those. I run Gogs myself, so I'm not that worried. Question really is where will the community at large move to, or will it now be divided?
@felixp7 Yeah it's not hard to convince me really. I already have my own Git code hosting using Gogs -- The question is will my (_not so few_) contributors follow me and come along? ๐ค
@felixp7 Agreed. The diversity and inevitable splits are a bit of a downside to all this. The thing about things like Github is the community, it's a shame it had to be sold ๐ข

@news Nothing conclusive, but I _believe_ after doing some analysis and running the codebase through the built-in race detector in Go I found a few bugs that trigger race conditions. Those have been fixed (_the ones I've found_). so hopefully this doesn't happen again ๐ค

I have no idea how's Github's own "social algorithms" would have ever recommended one of my projects to you! ๐ณ But _somehow_ I'm glad it did ! ๐ค At the end of the day, and @felixp7 made mention of this in v7m47ga about Twtxt / Twt.social "losing steam", but it has not, its going along at the same pace as it ever has. We're just not going along "fast enough"โข ๐คฃ But OTOH I personally am very much against advertising for on other platforms that sell people out!
By rebranding I'm saying we may (_one day_) change the branding "Twtxt", "Twt" and "Twt.social. We'll see. Marketing is hard and certainly not my fortรฉ! I'm just an engineering trying to make a difference ๐ And build a _better_ social platform that actually respect people as "users" and not a product of advertisers!

@news this has the upside of removing the last piece of personally identifiable information (PII) we store on user accounts, but a downside of if you forget what your email address is or lose access to your email then your account is forfeit!
But you know... These things take time, we built what we have today in only 3 months. Now we have to "market" it, "fund" it and keep going! We have even have to re-brand a few times.
@felixp7 Nope, it hasn't died down. We keep seeing the same numbers of new folks swing by, stick around, etc. It's been the same pace as it was been since we started this journey with Twt.social We _really_ haven't kicked it up a notch yet! Just one day at a time. 1-2 new users every day or so, and 1 active user say every week or so.
