@thewismit @prologic actually, it's the mobile client not displaying links properly. I have to stop using it. It needs updates :(
err... @prologic what the heck just happened with that?
We're all one of today's lucky "Ten Thousand" at some point, and likely will be many more times in the future.\n\nEach of us take turns filling up on things that "most" people seem to know, for I have yet to meet one who knows all those "most people" things! (non-overlapping subsets etc etc).\n\nBe kind to today's lucky Ten Thousand! ♥️\n\n
@prologic if you can point me at what I need to learn that would be nice :)
@prologic do you know how I can cross-post from Mastodon to twtxt?
@prologic @antonio @eldersnake did I just enter a conversation without having to follow @eldersnake? :D
@jlj @prologic don't worry, I like you guys and want the best for twt.social! I will feedback anything that I think will be useful. I do think there are features that need to be added here to make interacting with you guys easier and I've let you know :)
I found a mastodon blog post from 2018 that the server's local feed will contain more pertinent info based on the community. But I've not been very active up until this point.\n\nAnyone else use Mastodon?
Can someone that knows more about the "Fediverse" tell me if I should keep my accounts on both mastodon.social and fosstodon.org or if I should only have one?\n\nWill I be able to find people easily on federated servers?
maybe push to the fit repo on github and something about a hook to pull the updates to my server copy? Not sure I understand all of what I'm reading though.
On another tangent, I'd also like to know if there's a way to write posts in markdown on my workstation or Android and easily have them published to hugo\n\nRight now I only know to write them on the server and rebuild the static site.
@prologic or, post to twtxt and publish a post to hugo. Not sure what's possible.
@prologic thanks. Not sure I like having to follow every person just to feed my curiosity.
@psibr probably 2nd degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
@psibr my Monday was so good, I walked away from my desk at 2pm and took a nap.\n\nIt was either that or quit.
@prologic Been thinking about portability and am wondering how I'm going to start using the blog feature and also ensure that I can pick up that feed and move it somewhere else if needed.\n\nThoughts?
@adi I'm not sure what kind of feedback I can provide you but I do have a question.\n\nIs there a way to run the process that generates the static site in a way that altering files will cause a static build update?
@slashdot @kt84 @iggi @kshumake @prologic I'm glad someone pointed that out. I was about to hop into a boiling tub of water because someone told me the bubbles would feel good!
@jack I've done the same thing! Also I'm digging your Hugo theme. Is it custom?
@prologic @ionores I guess society should take more responsibility for teaching their children what's right from wrong, instead of letting corporate terms of service and the bans that come with breaking them do it for them.\n\nThe collective result would be surprisingly effective, in my opinion!
@jlj Nice post. Thought provoking. @psibrone, you two should talk.
@prologic I'm happy to help with administrative stuff, maybe even scripting. But coding, I don't know :(
@prologic oh wait. I'd have to know go right? Or you just want it logged?
@prologic I can't do it from the android app. Will have to try later.
@hxii and your domain name: is that meant to be read as "eight", "eight, ones" or "one, one, one, one, one, one, one, one". I could go on but... Lol
@stephanie It's you, me and Todd Henrichs @psibrone on this pod so far. That means you'll see our activity in the discover feed but you'll need to follow other people that you see us communicate with, in order to see the conversations.\n\nquestions and feedback always welcome!
Everyone, my sister-in-law @stephanie has joined the pod! She'll be a good test subj... Uhh pilot user!
@darch @hxii @adi ooooh. I like this. What's that red swirly pic for down at the bottom next to the webring icon?
@psibr Seriously, this work week has been annoying.
@prologic I'm monitoring my twt feed from the browser, during work. It might be able to collapse all of this to optimize focus. If you like that idea, I'll suggest compressing the actual twt box too.\n\n
@prologic @adi @darch I think having long form blog posts can drive discussion in the twts. Especially if you can reply to the blog posts using a twt.
Does Ubuntu have a utility for reclaiming RAM that's no longer in use?
@prologic @jlj (#elyeu7a) I like them both, it just depends on what mood I'm in. Now, if you want to talk Imperial, then I really get excited! I'm a big 40K fan and I kind of side with the empire in Star Wars but they're a bit too weak-handed for my tastes. Stormtroopers /smh
@prologic @jlj Yes to the automation part but that was actually easy once Lyse told me about cron ENV variables. Also yaas! to the inter-pod discussion! ;)
@prologic ooh, hearts and drafts. Thanks for the new image
@jlj the encryption is a big part of why I wish I had gotten restic to work.
@prologic @jlj the short form that's on youtube is a good teaser video that can be used to drive traffic to twt.social.\n\nThe long form should be made available at the twt.social site.
@prologic this video is a great into for people that want to know the what and why of twt.social. I think your front page and probably the front pages of the pods need to see/hear this in some format.\n\nPeople are going to want to see the humanity behind this project. Most of us are sick of the faceless and soul-less companies running our social media platforms.\n\nI'd like to share this video with my family when you're comfortable with that.
@jlj I use Goryon but I've not seen this issue. Try wiping app cache and re-log in.\n\nAlso what reverse proxy are you using? Ever since @xuu convinced me to switch to Caddy, my proxy woes have gone away.
@jlj @prologic I see that I can twt somehow in reply to that blog post?
@adi she really is! Amazing person too.
@jlj yeah, no worries. Let me know what you're thinking re: backup. I'm always interested in this sort of stuff!
Oh. My. God. Becky, look at her butt.
Soo @prologic, do you know why after deleting the twtxt container and recreating it with - THEME=light
set as an ENV variable, the site doesn't load by default with light theme?\n\nIs that the right setting?
@prologic I want to set Mentions as my home page. Any way to do?
@jlj Also, I need to head out for a vehicle emissions test in two hours, so if you think that's going to bump into our testing, we can do it any other time that works for us. I don't want you to give up your evening for something that will be cut short! :D
@jlj That would be great! I'd love to have snapshot backups. But, just so you know, I'm going to be OK as long as it's backed up. I'm just being picky, wanting restic to work.\n\nI already have rclone installed and my remote configured. I just need an exclusion strategy.
@jlj It looks like the cron job for the restic backup is running but the restic executable isn't firing. I think I was wrong regarding the seamless SSH. Maybe this is another part of the process that's preventing success. :( \n\nIt's Ubuntu LTS 20.04 --> Raspi 4
@psibr I just noticed in that pic; you still have candy canes. I think I ate all of them except for a handful, this year.
@lyse taught me that cron sometimes needs ENV variables to run jobs properly. I've fixed the onedrive leg of my backup solution! Thanks!
@psibr when you get a moment, please log onto the web client and reply to my DM. You'll click on Messages at the top right. I'm not giving you a screen shot this time. Find it yourself!
If anyone is familiar with using automatic restic backup between Linux hosts using SFTP and password-less logon, I could really use an extra set of eyes to determine why my cron jobs aren't running/failing. Please let me know!
@hxii do you mean a client for twtxt? May I see what it looks like?
@psibr @prologic oooh. I'll have to test that for you. He's more of a noob than I am ;)
As soon as I can apply a custom pod logo, this is going to be it - pending minor layout changes\n\n
@jlj broke my decentralized Interwebs!
@prologic @psibr try on a different browser @psibr. Also, what console? Are there logs I can tail for you?
@psibr let's add @prologic. He should be around in a couple of hours and may be able to help.
@psibr it just loads an editor page very similar to what the tweet editor looks like.
@vain Wait! It's my turn.\n\n"My friend, remember that without stupidity, there wouldn't be intelligence and without ugliness, there wouldn't be beauty. So the world needs you after all!" @psibr
@thewismit @psibr I'm due to write one too but work won't leave me alone long enough!
@psibr I know you have enough random words in your head to write up a decent sized blog post. Use this button :)\n\n
Welcome @psibr to my pod! He's a long time friend, a great person and a massive dork!
