@screem is totally right, just setting that one property on your page does wonders for your website's accessibility on all kinds of devices 😅 @win0err you should consider adding this 👌

Also if you're lucky enough to be using JVM 10+ (or unlucky to be forced into writing Java™ code 🤮) this _correct_ behaviour is now just built-in to the newest JVM v10+ and the options are no longer required.

@slashdot Oh come on! Didn't we try this already with Toyota's subscription service to unlock your fucking car with your own key fob?! 🤦‍♂️ What the actual fuck is wrong with these companies?! 🤬 If I buy a product, something physical I take home with me, I DO NOT expect to pay a continuous fee for something it _should_ "just do"™ Geez christ 😳

@zimpenfish I guess the thing is we have to define what behaviours we would derive from this property.

For example the only one yarnd currently uses is as a mechanism to filter bots and automated feeds out of the "Discover" view of pods, making it basically (as much as one can make possible) other folks you can "discover" (from other user follows on the same pod).

@win0err I like it (on desktop) 👌 On mobile (iOS) the text is a bit small/hard to read. It's otherwise a good layout 👌

@win0err Nice! What client are you using too btw? You _ are_ obviously missing threading support (which a lot of us do now!) -- But at a basic level you can just copy/paste the (#xxxxx) hash in a reply to keep things in-context. 👌 (it was designed to be as backwards compatible and as easy to use as possible).

@zimpenfish That's what I tend to think too. An author (such as yourself) "declares" that this feed is automated in some way. For examples all of the feeds at feeds.twtxt.net which aggregates and converts RSS/Atom to Twtxt _could_ be doing this too 👌

I'm in favour of something like:

# automated = true

Something as simple as this _might_ work?

@zimpenfish Well before you do, we should discuss this openly and come up with a robust way to do this. We have a bunch of Spec Extensions -- So we should start there. The _probllem_ I see at the moment is "how do we prove it's a bot or automated feed", "do we care?" cc @lyse and @movq for comment.

Also as an aside (and it doesn't matter so much because the network and ecosystem is quite small still), feeds do tend to find their way across pods as yarnd is both distributed and decentralised. All it takes is one other person interested in Cricket to follow you (very nice) feed and boom 😅

@zimpenfish Hey! 👋 Just wondering if this Cricket status thing is basically what you would consider a Bot? The reason I'm asking is that typically yarnd filters out Bots and Automated Feeds out of the "Discover" view. We _should_ try to do something here for new bots and automated feeds and find a way to generalize this? 🤔

@melyanna Not sure if you follow me at all... But for anyone else...

Had a quick look at status.cafe (didn't create an account though) -- Kind of curious why we couldn't work with these guys behind this and get it integrated with Twtxt/Yarn? 🤔

@andreottica Hello! 👋 Welcome to Yarn.social 🤗

I'm going to ask @eapmx to chime in here as I _believe_ hs is also a native Spanish speaking person 🤗

To answer your questions:

- All Yarn.social pods (as we call them) federate with other pods. Yes.
- Media (photos, videos and audio) can be disabled via CLI/Env or via the Manage Pod UI.

Otherwise the server you intend to run this pod on is totally fine. yarnd is designed to be pretty lightweight.

Let us know if you run into any issues! Please check our repo for examples of running in Docker (I run my pod in Docker to!) and other configuration parameters you can use.

On public brokers, this is planned and on the roadmap, but I'm not quite sure we're really ready to do this. And as always (just like Yarn.social itself) we _would_ really want to encourage folks to spin up their own brokers on their own domains, however for convenience we _should_ run a few ourselves (the developers/community) to make onboarding easier.
