@abucci And that's just it, we do not have any tools or mechanisms for promoting one person's content over another or even topics or tags. Everytime the topic of "Likes" come up, we say no, including the existing community. It makes Yarn.social a bit more boring and unexciting, but that's okay I think? π

@abucci I'm not sure it's actually possible to "dogpile" on Yarn.social - We're tried to make is extremely difficult to do things like this or enable behaviours like self-promotion, etc. -- If there's a new way someone discovers to do this, we'll find a way to code that way so it's "harder" to do.

@retrocrash Yeah there's a lot of supporting growing evidence to suggest we're basically "fucked" as a species, let alone how we've ruined the planet beyond repair (maybe?) -- I'm not even talking about the world population either, I'm talking about genetic diversity. The human gene pool is allegedly degrading at an alarming rate, we may not be able to recover without some kind of miraculous solution π€

But another part of me also _thinks_ we just don't have "good enough" medical technology and information to be more effective. I jokingly said to my wife today that I wished we had something like a smartwatch or something that could alert you of close proximity to a personal or animal with a viral infection.

You are right though,anecdotally people that work as teachers with children or in child care centres with todlers tend to either a) not get sick or b) when they do, they get over it quickly.
Same is true of my children, they interact with other children of varying health conditions and pathogens. They are younger. They have strong immunse systems.

- I don't go anywhere.
- For the past couple of years I've deliberately avoided humans I don't know or trust, crowded places, indoors with recycled air, public transport, etc.
- I even took an entire season off of Table-Tennis because I wasn't sure of the health practices of the hall, the people that play there and whether there was enough "open air".
Then one day my child comes home from school feeling "unwell". She tells her mother she has a sore throat and points t her throat. But she gets over it pretty quickly. Two days maybe?
Then my wife comes down with something on Saturday.
Then I start feeling unwell, sore throat, Sunday.
Anyone that knows me and has ever heard me exclaim how selfish humans are can hopefully empathize with how I feel right now. I'm so fucking angry, you can't escape stupidity and selfishness π€¦ββοΈ π€¬

@abucci The media is displayed inline if it is in the allowed list of "domains" -- Which by default that means the pod itself. You can add .* to permit inline display of images from everywhere if you want (I don't).

The main difference between the "Timeline" and "Discover" is quite simply this.
- Timeline contains only Yarns/Twts of feeds you directly follow.
- Discover contains only non-Bot/non-Automated Yarns/Twts of anything on your feed.
The later of which helps with discovering the wider ecosystem and other users and so forth -- especially so on a multi-user pod (which is the default configuration).
In either case, they are just "Views" of the cache, everything is in chronological order, there is no algorithm (besides sorting) going on, etc.
