enjoy the weekend everyone!
Do anyone of you have a macbook M1?
nevfr had one, but I'm very tempted to get a M1 laptop..
Im used to linux/windows and open source, but still it's very tempting to get one of those..
@prologic yeh, we all got it. ws pretty bad for a week. puked like crazy as well, and lost taste and smell... we're all good now and back in shape :)
@prologic hi! doing fine, got rid of that pesky covid. back to work, and are back at the office. (the image was taken there this morning ) :)
how are you doing?
@fastidious going OK for now, one of my jkids (9) has slept for 24hrs now, fever has backed down a bit. The rest of us are doing fine, but kinda waiting on it to start for the rest of us. But I'm sure it'll go fine, fingers crossed.
covid reached our household last night :(
First week of the new year is done, been a good and busy week. Enjoy the weekend everyone:)
@fastidious a lot of people do not know you can ctrl+c on a dialog and get the full text in the clipboard :)
Happy new year from Norway!
finally vacation for the rest of the year!
@fastidious I start vacation next week, work monday to Wednesday as well. look forward to having some time off work.
@movq Yeah, Norway. The weather has turned a bit the last days here. So now it rains and such. But just a bit east from here - there was a massive queue due to snow on the highway, people spent 10 hours in their cars waiting for the traffic to start moving. People left for work, got stuck, then could not start heading home before 5 in the morning.
I think the same about all the stuff you code on every day, haha.
it's been snowing the last two days. I like it much more then rain.
@prologic no, not this morning. but I'll keep it in mind :)
@prologic here we had freezing rain. thick ice everywhere 05:30 this morning when I drove to work. luckily a bit warmer the next days, so all the ice will go away.
@ullarah I like the idea of smaller avatars, or possibly configurable size that you can set as a option. Possibly none, small, normal.
I have a nice Thinkpad x200 with libreboot on it, I did a fresh install of the OS on it today, I got debian testing installed, also went for KDE desktop, even though I like LXQT more, or xfce.
Going to give this a good run. The machine is working very well, and super stable. I really like using it.
@lyse Thank you! Much better now. :)
@prologic Thank you! Been great today, got to take my daughter for a walk by the coast, and we had the firstt snow this year today, so it's been a nice Saturday :)
been knocked out by a cold this week, finally feel better. going to be good to get out of the house tomorrow.
@lyse my goal is to work there my whole career, that would be great :) off to a good start :)
got this one at work today, and cake!
Im 38, so I have spent a lot of time doing what I do, proud of beeing here for so long, through downsizing and pandemic and all that stuff.
Got a new SDR dongle today, so much fun scanning all radio frequencies looking for conversations or data etc.
@adi indeed it is :) very hard to get a hold of one. cost a lot back then too.
@adi lemote yeeloong 8089_B. bought it 9 years ago.
I wanted to fix the machine by using it - including the tools on it. Everything except the base OS is compiled from source on the machine, single core 800mhz, 2gb ram (or 1, i do not remember). I love to spend time on it, getting things to work etc. :)
Been spending 2 days in terminal only (including browser) on openbsd , trying to fix so that I can compile a gui based browser on my mipsel machine, took a lot of fiddling around, but now surf browser is compiling. Fingers crossed. I use openbox as desktop.
finally weekend again, been yet another busy week. time to relax, spend time on the computer, and just chill with my family. just the way I like it! :)
@prologic hi! just very busy with work, many projects at the same time. so when I get home I just chill with my kids etc. So I have not spent much time on my computer lately.
other then that all is good :)
good morning to you all, hope you get to have a great day!
ws very busy day at work today, now I'm home, watching TV and chilling. kids are out playing, Tonight Ill code or play some games.
Hope you all are having a nice day!
Got my twitter archive today, so I'll start coding the migration tool tomorrow.
I have not decided what I want to make it in yet, c, c++, rust or possibly F#. I'll make it to my self for the challenge, but Ill put the code out for anyone to use.
@quark I maintained Yaics for a long time, but I do not do that anymore since I do not run a statusnet / gnusocial server anymore.
https://gitlab.com/stigatle/yaics/
I really like to have desktop clients like this.
goryon mobile client is made with flutter, and If I remember correct you can make desktop apps as well with that, using the same codebase for mobile/desktop would be nice.
today I want to code on something. Not sure what yet. kinda want to make a tool that can take a twitter arcive and convert it to yarn, including media and such. Might write it in rust, since I've been wanting to get more into that. At work I code in c++, c#, javascript, python and work with QT, so for personal projects its nice to work with something else.
@adi I really want a pinebook pro. hope to get one soon.
@quark it's work office. (oil industry), office is right next to the ocean, love it there. my home office is at my kitchen table, not as exciting view :)
I took this one last winter at work, one of my favourite images. was 20c below zero that morning.
@quark jup, same here in south Norway. at winter it's dark when I go to work and dark when I get home.
the sunrise from my office window. I never get tired of that view.
@quark I'm not a apple fan, but I really want a M1 laptop.
@prologic - So, I got yarn to run here now, I've got one question, the cookie, magic and api sign strings that you pass on - should those just be some random unique strings (same every time)? Or something in particular?
I'm going to put it on a ssl enabled site soon.
there is a problem with goryon and some links, fails to open. see attached image.
One thing I really enjoy is flightsim! (xplane 11).
Got a nice setup with flight yoke, pedals, VR and so on, really fun to spend time with that later tonight.
@quark june to late august is best :)
@prologic yeah, near the ocean (10 minute walk), and got forest just outside the door as well. (can walk for hourrs there) 10 minutes in car to city center as well. just the right mix of everything :)
beautiful day today.
@prologic that blue sky looks great! how warm is it?
@jlj thank you, I'm glad I found this, exactly what I was looking for :)
@kt84 that is a place I'd really like to visit. :)
another picture from that day, we walked up the timber slide to here. a old farm, we made food on the fire and spent all day there.
upload from gallery works now. testing with a picture I took last weekend, we where out on a walk (with our kids). we really like this place.
@prologic thank you, installed that one now :)
@prologic not sure, latest from android app store.
@prologic goryon for android is the one I installed.
@prologic Thank you! And thanks for running this, I really like it here.
@fastidious @prologic And just for the record, it was ' libavutil-dev' and not 'libavutil-devel' I wrote that one wrong in my previous reply.
So the complete list was:
apt-get install ffmpeg libswscale-dev libavformat-dev libavutil-dev libavcodec-dev
@fastidious Thank you, I was able to build it now, I was missing a couple of things.
The packages I installed (complete list) was:
apt-get install ffmpeg libswscale-dev libavformat-dev libavutil-devel libavcodec-dev
after that it compiled, working through a terminal on my server, but I'll get it up and running later tonight, at least now I have it compiled.
I think we should add these to the compilation instructions, so that others save time by quickly getting the required packages installed, makes it easier for the next person trying to do the same.
@adi @fastidious thank you. I tried on debian, and ubuntu earlier today, but did not compile. Ill try on openBSD tomorrow, would be nice to get that working. I want to move from my current vps over to openbsd.amsterdam and have my own yarn instance hosted there.
installed the mobile app, works great!
I code at work every day, and I enjoy open source stuff in my free time, so Ill see if I can help out with anything of this.
Also, once I have it hosted on my own server I want to migrate my 14.5k tweets over.
Do anyone of you run this on #openBSD ? I want to migrate my current VPS over to that, and move my website ( https://stigatle.no ) to a static site, and then it would be nice to have Yarn running there as well. I have to give that a try one of these days.
Hello everyone! Been looking for somewhere to migrate from twitter.
I found yarn.social , I initially wanted to self host it, but I could not get it to run, I'll look into that later on.
Decided to join here first now, and get a feel for this place.
Hope you all are having a great weekend!
