Apparently if you try to start a new DM (Direct Message) with someone, you end up creating an "Empty Room", the system "invites" the party, but the "room" remains empty until they join? wtf is this shit?! seriously?! 🤦‍♂️ #Matrix

@prologic I think that's approximately what happens behind the scenes, it shouldn't be visible on that easy to the end user, so I guess something else is going wrong... (or bad UI in the client you're using?) 🤔

The thing is the experience is as @david rightly said, extremely slow. I'm seeing huge amounts of Disk and Network traffic joining any room. And I"m seeing Join times of 2-person rooms (Private Chats) of up to 30s.
