How does anyone think that this particular contraption will stop anyone from attempting to walk over or around the wall to the other side?! π· and a close-up
π Today (_13th Sept 2020_) marks that day that this Pod has reached ~2M hits in a month. Time for a celebratory family Sunday afternoon drive π π· ~
@becrobinson86 Nice! Somehow though when you were posting this image, you deleted the part of the link, this is important so that it displays properly inline :) You can go back and edit your last Twt though, and just fix the link to be
A few months ago we rescued this little cutie from the back porch, and when we handed him in to the local vet it turns out that it was a rather particular rare bird that migrated here from further up north! π¬ \n\n
@kt84 Ack, I _think_ I broke something in the MediaHandler when adding support for videos. Not sure what though just this minute, I'll fix it after dinner! π€
Just be aware that (_at least for the time being_) you can only upload very short ~10-15s videos at this time. We're working on making this better so you can upload up to and including the full Pod (_default_) ~16MB upload. π€
@lukem Yup! "Live" is all the rage very since FB introduced it! Silly really. We keep playing this tug-of-war between "active" vs. "passive" things that divide our attention. Personally I prefer the later always. There are very few times I want to engage in "active" activities, mostly only sport.
@hjertnes I couldnβt agree more! But Iβm rather enjoying this platform actually doesnβt have push notifications (yet?) and remains rather passive, although should it? π€
@mdosch Oh! Hey! I'm so glad you responded! I wasn't sure anyone I Twt to externally (_that doesn't use this software_) would ever see my @mentions of them :) -- WOW Congratulations! π What does being part of the #XSF entail?
@slashdot Right, so in the end Open Source and Open Leadership wins?\n\n> New data shows that "the confidence, intelligence and extroversion that have long propelled ambitious workers into the executive suite are not enough online because they simply don't translate into virtual leadership," writes Arianna Cohen via the BBC. "Instead, workers who are organized, dependable and productive take the reins of virtual teams." From the report:
@dooven@lukem Tell me about it! It pretty much wipes me out for Thu/Fri and the weekend! On top of that you often get invited to other to other _somewhat important_ mgmt meetings that start at ~2AM my local time which you have no cnoice but to say "Maybe" to because they _seem_ important. The joys of working for a remote/global company (_but if we didn't have an internal bias of hiring in a certain TZ we wouldn't have this problem!_)~
@dooven I saw similar photos this morning from some of my own colleagues from Netdata cloud work over there! Itβs truly horrific. I hope you are safe π€
@lyxal Hah! You can of course pause stop listen and pay attention to the conversation then go back to your typing right? π€£ Or Is this a classic case of belief in oneβs ability to multitask!? π
@lahvak This is a really great read. I only wish you had summarised it a little here on your Twtxt feed! cc @off_grid_living you _would_ be very interested in reading this piece too! Very insightful stuff!
@m15o Hello! π Welcome to Twtxt.net! π€ So glad you can join our little (_ever_) growing community! π We're doing great, little tired (_early start to my day!, so thinking about going back to bed for a while!_)
@off_grid_living Thanks for the reminder! π€\n\n@https://twtxt.net/user/dooven/twtxt.txt> Let's talk about getting Goryon out of "Beta" and into the hands of the general public? Let's see if we can draw up a _reasonable_ timeline for this? πββοΈ
@off_grid_living Haha you mean OS; but yes your points are very valid, even if that wasn't the point of the "Conversation"! It was more of an example of this so-called "Dopamine" effect we were talking about that is problematic with these so-called social media "Likes" / "Reactions". As much as we'd like to _believe_ they provide feedback/affirmation about one's own writing, they have the unfortunate real side effect of causing human psychological problems and are _actually_ bad for some people's health (_mental health_)!
π£ SEV3: I'm very sorry about this, but I made a boo boo! π’ I accidentally committed to master (_which rolled within ~5mins to every hosted Twt.social post we manage_) a change that caused the @stats bot to get a bit more noisy that it usually is (_once per day_). Ooops! This has been fixed and the offending "bad data" in that feed nuked across all pods. π€ As a solution going forward, I will enable "Branch Projection" on master and prevent myself from making commits directly to master from here on! π€£~
@kt84 Came across a very recent example of this "dopamine" effect you mentioned in your Twt Blog! This is what I got "alerted" to today whilst working via the beloved (_or loated?_) LinkedIn What is interested to note here (_I cut out the author and who reacted_), is that the author gave himself a "β₯οΈ" reaction, many engineers gave it a "π" (_but never replied_) and other executives, recruiters and management folks gave it a "β₯οΈ"._
@lyxal Oh well good! I'm very happy to hear that! I mean isn't that what we all want anyway? π€ I also _recognise_ that as a Pod grows larger "community spirit" may degrade slightly. However as Twtxt.net (_the software_) is designed to be decentralised from the ground up, my _hope_ is that folks would migrate to other Pods! π€
@kt84@felipeweber With over 2800 anonymous sessions per hour and 25 permanently logged in sessions of active users on this pod; itβs not such a small community anymore! π π€π
