Highly recommended, @prologic, in case you haven't used that either. :-)

My workmate was also a bit caught in this disaster when coming home from vacaction and got her train ride rescheduled the day after in the morning. Pretty crazy reports from over there.
This is what Audacity looks like after watching YouTube for a while:

The screen is two years old …
These ghost images go away after a while, but they’re annoying as heck. 😳

Oof. 😂 I personally go with “free software” for these reasons: https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/open-source-misses-the-point.html (In fact, I misunderstood “open source” for a very long time. Embarrassing, even.)

I’d go with “human readable formats”. Some arguments here: https://blog.codinghorror.com/there-aint-no-such-thing-as-plain-text/

I kind of miss the audible feedback of home computers, too. When the drives were active, you knew the machine was doing something. 🙃
(I still have hard disks, not just SSDs, but they’re so quiet these days that you hardly hear them anymore.)

Finding a specialist doctor in germany can be difficult. Not just eye doctors, but all of them. And when I *do* find a new doctor, I expect to have to wait for several months until I get an appointment. According to this statistic, there are only about 8.4 ophthalmologists for every 100'000 people in this country (in 2020). What the heck, isn’t that a bit low? 😂
You still get help in cases of emergency (afaik, they are even required by law to help you *if* it’s an emergency). Luckily, that’s not the case for me. Technically, I can wait. Still annoying. 😅

wife is out of town so had to adjust the running schedule a bit. doing it on the treadmill today and realized it has been a while. i did notice the watch thought i was going faster than i was (kept quoting an 8:15-ish pace) when really i was locked on at 9:40. adjusted the distance to reflect. interesting how much it looks like the heat and humidity play a factor on my HR though.

In fact, none of the ophthalmologists I called so far take new patients. 🙄 Might take a while until I find one … 😩
(Dude, “ophthalmologist”, what a word. In Germany, we call them “eye doctors”. 😂)

I saw a couple of these UFOs. 😅 Planes were crazy/desperate enough to approach the airport. They were flying right into the heart of the thunderstorm. Next day, I read reports that passengers couldn’t leave their plane, because everything was flooded at the airport. 🤷

These are some truly amazing shots, mate. Very impressive, well done! They do not compare to mine. So many other levels. Even a UFO in 6387. ;-)
I read something similar the other day for BaWü. Muuuuuch more recorded lightnings this summer than in previous years. Not as crazy over here, though. Your numbers clearly win by far, that's for sure.
Reminds me of a guided tour in the computer museum at University of Stuttgart when Clemens Krause told us that back in the days, the operators could hear what the machine is doing. For example they recognized by ear that the end of the tape is about to be reached soon, so they then could walk over and prepare a tape change or the like. Pretty awesome. :-)
