@prologic ain’t that the truth! Modus operandi also varies from person to person. I have co-workers that never interact on public channels, where the entire team is being pinged. I am the only one “saving face” for the entire team, by actively replying to queries, and actioning as needed. It is just the way I am, too.

Pinellas County - Tempo run: 5.23 miles, 00:09:06 average pace, 00:47:37 duration
first time the garmin suggested a tempo run to me so i went with it. the run felt great. bit hard to get up to tempo on the last rep but that was mainly due to traffic.

the cool down was rough because a woman let her dogs out from the car to run to inside the house, but the dogs saw me running and crossed the street to bark. now i stopped because you never know and she yelled at them to come back. the bigger of the two ran back across and she was still yelling to get the smaller one back. but i saw oncoming traffic as the dog was starting to cross and i tried to get in the middle of the road to slow the car down. unfortunately not fast enough and the dog was hit. the driver and i waited and the owners said the dog was seemed okay but still not a pleasant experience.

I hate reading translations. Here's an example why: the same passage of the English and the Portuguese translation of the same (French) book. Not just the length of the passage shows one of the translations wasn't faithful, the behavior of the character in one version is the opposite than how he behaves on the other version...

@eapl.me work messaging/interaction is different. They are talking about the rubbish that is Discord. Enterprise messaging is work. It is very important especially whilst working remote. While at work, I have customised notifications, and yes, I almost instantly reply to queries, whether on Teams, emails, or voice (unless, of course, otherwise engaged on something else, but I multitask quite well via chat).

Checking messages once a day, and replying hours later is completely unacceptable within my work environment. It also goes against my own work ethics.

I miss writing documents in LaTeX. 😢 It’s so satisfying to produce good looking PDF files. Sadly, I just don’t have a need / use case anymore … Last thing I did was writing the (german) PDF for asciifield 5 years ago: https://www.uninformativ.de/git/asciifield/files.html

still just me and the kids so opted to do the long run on the treadmill (meh). i am not going to lie... my HR is great when in controlled environments. halfway through i was getting a bit bored so brought up some long play of the game "shadows of doubt" which i found entertaining at least.

@prologic Inspired by Indian road traffic. (I never used Discord and never will.)
I quickly looked into the starlit sky yesterday night before I went to bed. Bam, a shooting star came down. Great! :-) The first one this season. Should do this more often.
Why I don't like Discord: It makes "beeps" at you, you go and figure out who wanted your attention, but you can't ever figure that out. It's just "beeping" at you for no good reason 🤦‍♂️

@mckinley Yeah okay this is pretty interesting use-case. I'm sure we can make it work, the problem of course being IP space. And I didn't think of IP usage either, so in theory we'd have to figure out a valid and fair pricing model for that too right? 🤔

It was 28°C when I left the house at 20:00 for a quick stroll. There was an eerie silence everywhere. A bit surprising, but I'm the last to complain about that. The whole residential area was filled with delicious smell of grilled meat. When I reached the end of town, it changed for freshly cut grass. Some clouds were backlit quite nicely. I came across two groups who were camping or partying in nature. Both times pleasantly quiet and good music penetrated my ears. Another positive surprise. I saw plenty of bats cruising over my head. On the way back I also encountered numerous frogs, well dark spots jumping across the paths in the darkness. Next time I go out this late, I definitely have to bring my torch to enjoy these amphibians. Or head out earlier.

@prologic Yeah, shell is full of these very weird things, that just make no sense. You just have to memorize all these silly definitions. Standards were followed in my case, that's sure.
