SO now Linux GIzmos a website that I regularly like to subscribe to and read via RSS/Atom -> Twtxt has now suddenly gone down this path of "Please disable your adblocker, pretty please, because ads help support us!"
-- Geez christ! 😱 🤦♂️ The answer is "fuck no". Not only can your ads not be trusted as you have no control over them, they can be downright dangerous too! 🤬 Fuck me 🤦♂️ Wtf is going on here?! First Youtube, now some random little site?!

Crap! I just realized I never made a backup of my Windows 95 CD. And now I can’t find that CD anymore. My collection is incomplete! 😱

@movq My brain always reads this as "f" and then I think: what the heck? A split-second later it occurs to me, right, it's an extinct letter. What was it again? Hmm. Ah, an ancient "s"! Every single time. In all those years, I haven't gotten used to it. :-)

@lyse @johanbove Speaking of “ss” and “ß”: I regret that we don’t use the “ſ” anymore. 😅 It’s nice if you can tell “Wachstube” and “Wachſtube” apart! 😅

It's weekend again, time to chill.
Weekends means family time, long hikes and late nights with the TV.
I'm done with the long walk for today, and kids are busy with friends, so now I sit on my laptop for a bit.
@johanbove The former is Swiss German as they do not have the "ß" and always use "ss" instead. Everywhere else the sharp s is used in that case. I always wonder how the Swiss then distinguish between "In Maßen" and "In Massen". :-)

@johanbove Yeah, I think that’s the case with my Epson as well. 🫤 (But mine is about 18 years old, so I’m happy that it still works at all.)

@johanbove I had no idea where it came from. 😅 There are so many “black $something” throughout the year and similar sales events … It was news to me that it’s related to Thanksgiving.

@shreyan Well, I think it’s more of a workaround than a solution. And there’s a lot of guesswork needed from Firefox – that’s why I probably won’t enable this option. It needs to guess which elements to hide and, if set to the more aggressive option, which elements to *click* (to discard the dialog). That sounds very wonky. 🫤
