@darren I could not agree more! We lowly humans of society, have our asses raped and thrown in jail for illegally copying/stealing/sharing copyrighted material of all kinds, but OpenAI Microsoft, Google and other companies are allowed to rape/pillage/steal as much copyrighted works as they want to train their models on and reproduce new derivative works on and even sell and profit from it, without even so much as a fucking consequence 🤦♂️

I am so literally fucking sick of this AI / OpenAI / CoPilot shit™. I took a very strong moral and ethical stance many years ago, Why I no longer trust Github for the exact same reasons Actors and Musicians are now suring AI companies. Why is this shit™ so fucking hard? Pay the content authors! Training on the hard work and contents of others is stealing.

@movq Very cool photos! You got lucky again with the blackbird, so cute.
Thank you, @movq. Yup, and he's also wearing knee pads.

@lyse Lovely shots. 👌
So, the person on 58.jpg was the one who’s about 60 years old? That’s why he was wearing a helmet, huh? 😳

practiced a marathon pacing strategy (simulated) of 5km/10mi/10mi/5km. went pretty well even though i was going faster than the described paces at each step. but overall i felt good. also scouted out the two overpasses i will have to climb during the marathon. definitely nothing compared to the overpasses i regularly run over. freezing outside! i think it started at 33F and ending around 45F? pretty lonely run though because the cold kept people inside except for the crazies.

@prologic Woohoo, it's coming together. Digging holes that quickly fill up with water is not so pleasant. I'm glad that they managed it, though. Let's hope that your upgrade is completed next week.
@stigatle I got you covered. :-P Fingers crossed that you can pay your forests a visit soon.
11 might be deer tracks, maybe a hunter can tell. It's definitely originates from wildlife. I was the only one on that path. There were no other footprints than mine.
I took plenty of videos and now have to edit them. Phew, that's unpleasant work. Gotta replace some audio. The wind noise makes my ears bleed. I reckon I will finish this tomorrow. :-/
I really enjoyed to finally get some shop time again. It's been quite a while. But today I started on the shelves.
In the afternoon I then decided to go out and soak up the winter sun. This turned into a four hours walk. In contrast to yesteray, there were a lot more people on the way. I wore my other gloves and boy, do they work better. So much warmer! Gonna always bring them from now on.
The autofocus left me in the church when I spotted the great spotted woodpecker in 03. Sigh. Despite the focus causing trouble yet again, timing in 31 was perfect. The fisherman casts his net to catch the car. ;-)
Two people were having a barbie at the public fireplace on top of the mountain. Haven't seen that in action for quite some months now. The fire smelled beautiful.
I estimate the sledder's age to about 60 years. He went down the steep, snowy and icy mountain road. Quite a bit crazy with people walking up and down, too.
Iced up twigs
@movq Thanks! Yeah, not to speak of our mouths either. :-)
I've decided to set up org-agenda, and I'm absolutely amazed. I can't imagine myself using any other agenda anymore.

Getting warmer tomorrow and the next week or so, hope most of the snow melts so that I can head out and walk in the forest again - I miss that.
@prologic exactly! Plus they get pirated anyway even with every restriction they apply, so they're just inconveniencing all of us including those of us who would pay money.
Update on my Fibre to the Premise upgrade (FTTP). NBN installer came out last week to install the NTD and Utility box, after some umming and arring, we figured out the best place to install it. However this mean he wasn't able to look it up to the Fibre in the pit, and required a 2nd team to come up and trench a new trench and conduit and use that to feed Fibre from the pit to the utility box.
I rang up my ISP to find out when this 2nd team was booked, only to discover to my horror and the horror of my ISP that this was booked a month out on the 2rd Feb 2024! 😱
After a nice small note from my provider to NBN, suddenly I get a phone call and message from an NBN team that do trenching to say it would be done on Saturday (today). That got completed today (despite the heavy rain).
Now all that's left is a final NBN tech to come and hook the two fibre pieces together and "light it up"! 🥳

@lyse That “on top of the world” view is so great. 😍
The sheep are crazy. It’s always astounding to see animals out in the wild in winter, just walking through the snow, seemingly unbothered. Humans just aren’t capable of that. Our toes would fall off. 🤔

What Hollywood/Disney/etc have never seemed to understand about this DRM nonsense if, if you sell me a movie DRM-free, I actually have no interest in sharing this with anyone. It would live on my server, and go nowhere else.

I'm glad I switched to Jellyfin for my home library a while ago. They say "buy" movies but like most services, it'll most likely "buy" a subscription to access said movie, that can be revoked any time. Unless you could buy a movie and have the file on your hard drive DRM-free, but that will never happen with the movie studios involved.
