Thank you, @kat and @ionores! Yeah, number four looks like a forest fire.
It was supposed to start raining this afternoon, but a rain cloud hit us in the morning just when we approached the foot of our backyard mountain. With the dark sky above us and wind speed picking up, we decided to take the next turn and head back. Luckily, the rain didn't last long, so we paid the tadpole pond a visit to prolong our stroll. My mate told me that it was frozen a few days ago, but there was not much of the icy cover left today. https://lyse.isobeef.org/waldspaziergang-2025-01-02/
One could have made a temporary sundial out of this branch in the pond a few days ago
@prologic There are still people who prefer it over Git. I mean, OpenBSD even still uses CVS. I don’t understand why, but they say it works fine for them … 🤷

@prologic Yep, I saw this a few days ago. 😃 Haven’t had a closer look yet. But before I wrote my own editor, I considered porting SVED
. 😃 (Couldn’t do it, because they use features that my kernel doesn’t have.)

@kat Yeah sorry but maintaining a mobile app with Flutter became too hard and complicated as the whole mobile ecosystem is just a giant PITA 🤦♂️ Every new version of Xcode, Android, Flutter, etc... Something would break 😢

@kat No worries! I consider Yarn.social to be really an ecosystem of clients, tools and services. Twtxt is the underlying exchange format used and extended (See https://twtxt.dev)

@prologic I haven’t used WireGuard for a very long time. Can the WireGuard server communicate with peers without being itself one?

really wanna make an ssh zine app inspired by a telnet zine cms i found on github. i'm gonna probably go ahead with the telnet zine idea i have if i can get people for it but if i could build my own ssh mirror for it with golang and the charmbracelet wish library that'd be epic

asciinema is really cool. thought about self hosting my own upload site which they have docs for but i don't need to host everything even if it'd be a fun project. the default/main site is fine enough for me when i won't be uploading a whole lot.

@prologic to run that WireGuard tunnel you need to run the client on the same machine running the WireGuard server, right? Looking forward to your write up!

We had a faint yellow-orange-redish sky this evening. Only subtle, but it was actually one of those rare 360° sunsets. Just when I thought, that was it, it's now over, the colors took off like crazy: https://lyse.isobeef.org/abendhimmel-2025-01-01/
Sunset
A much nicer start into the year than all the hell yesterday. However, just as I type this, there come also the next round of explosions as darkness falls. Those bloody fuckers, please blow yourselves up!
Für mich, als leidenschaftlicher Raketenstocksammler, ist die Ausbreitung von Feuerwerksbatterien ein trauriger Fortschritt. Frohes Neues.

@ionores Opening the windows is the worst you can do with all that crazy smoke out there. But the music ain't too bad. :-)
being a k-pop fan in nerd circles means no one will ever take you seriously. the solution is to be so unserious and insane that it wraps back around to people taking you seriously as you do cool things while being deeply unserious

i've transitioned text editors from nano (yeah i know) to micro and god micro is just so much better i did not know there was a CLI text editor i could use with sensible keyboard shortcuts that did not leave me feeling like i'm typing nuclear codes to do simple tasks like saving and editing
