@thecanine LOL. It is iOS vs Android all over again. I used to engage in flame wars related to this, way before you had a smartphone, I am sure 😂. Not. Worth. It.

Everyone carries its own cross, right? đŸ€Ł Enjoy your phone, and aim for happiness. The rest is just crumbs.
@lyse Just like @prologic, lovely 5! What kind of camera/lens do you use? Could you provide details on your rig?
@prologic you and I, mate. You and I. I am super chilling this weekend. The weather is also nice to be at home, nice and cozy.

Grats on .6!
@thecanine
> phones get thrown away, because the battery gets inflated, the great quality charging port that always gets all wiggly after a year or so of use, the random display cracks that happen and make you find out that for the price of their repair, you can get a whole new phone and all that stuff [
]

I have been using iPhones since the iPhone 3G, and those things you mentioned have happened zero times. I use my iPhones for 2-3 years, and then either trade them in, or hand them down—they are in perfect usable state. I understand everyone doesn't want to spend money every 2-3 years on a phone, though.

A Fairphone has no appeal to me. Well, also any phone running Android has no appeal to me, but I digress 😂.
Kind of getting tired of this yarn. I mean, come on, are we beating a dead horse? Where is the mute/unsubscribe/block button? 😅
@stigatle
> spend time on the computer, and just chill with my family [
]

You and I both! I kid you not.

This weekend I am rebuilding my iMac with Monterey, spending time with mum and dad, having some quality time with wife, and overall chilling around. It is rainy, it is going to be cooler (19-20°C), it is going to be a blast of a weekend! â˜ș

Have a good one, mate! đŸ»
@adi read again what I wrote, very carefully. Then once more. If you don’t understand it, well, maybe use Google Translate? đŸ€Ł
Should I assume you used to write, and/or still do? What kind? I envy fluent writers for I am not one of them. I am an avid reader, though, if that counts.
It has been over 30 years since I read Azimov. I want to revisit the robot series again, and some of his other popular books. Trying to figure out which version to acquire: ebooks, paper books, or audio books. That’s assuming they are available on those formats.
@thecanine
> Turning 22 today also the glasses I ordered just arrived

Happy birthday! đŸŽ‰đŸŽ‚đŸ„ł

I clearly remember my 22nd birthday. I was in the military (mandatory), was miserable, and didn’t know what I wanted to be. Fast forward 30 years or so, and still don’t know! đŸ€Ł

Oh, and swell shades! 😎
CISSP? That’s the only exam I know if takes that long, or longer. Oh, and some bar/medical ones too.

Either way, break a leg!
The Three Laws of Robotics

1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
@prologic no, no. Yarn, nor twtxt, are NaNoWriMo.
@eldersnake \n> you can just trawl through the source code to know they aren’t stealing your credentials [
]
\n\nI wish but I lack the skills, and time, to do that.
For IRC test, go to top.
Testing something here. Link to top. It works! Hmm, let me experiment with something else.
Windows XP is dead. It has been dead long, long ago. No anniversaries for it. It is over.
@anth "if you build it, they will come."
@thecanine It is not about that. It is about having the confidence that Chrome isn't stealing your credentials. We conduct personal, and enterprise business on browsers. I am not about to trust that, as I wrote, to "some obscure company, or a small bunch of unknowns."\n\nThat is what I am talking about.
I will not trust my web browsing to some obscure company, or a small bunch of unknowns. Anyone—and their pets—these days can come up with a browser that derives from Firefox, or Chrome.
The cynic in me dislikes things describing themselves as "focused on privacy, security and freedom". Also anything that has "Libre" on their name. Re: LibreWolf.
@movq let me know where I can toss some coins, would love to buy you a beer!
@movq oh, wow, now I get it! It is so easy to miss! Very, very crafty, and sneaky.
@eldersnake that WP entry sounds aged. I manage load balancers (LB), and there is only one DNS entry assigned to the LB entry point. Nodes names behind it never surface during the load balancing process.\n\nEither way, an unsecured (non TLS) www.rosa.ro website now loaded when I went to https://www.rosa.ro/. đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž
@adi it is https://www2.rosa.ro/. I wonder what ever happened to their www. đŸ€Ł
@prologic got the latest revision up and running. Played with it, poked around, I didn't see anything breaking this time so I think we are GTG! đŸ„ł
it shows fine now. It is a hit and miss. đŸ˜©
@prologic \n> What’s the issue?\n\nI can’t consistently replicate it. In this reply, I a) hit RETURN once after the subject and the nick, b) started the > pasted a piece of yours, c) hit RETURN twice and typed this. Let’s see what it does.
\n\n> OK. It is. \n\nThere is still something funky going on here.
@movq are out sure you pasted the right file to curl?
@stackeffect a TV that is also a DVR? Woah! In the States, normally DVRs are separate boxes, normally bundled with a cable TV tuner. I have never seeing one built in a TV.
@prologic \n> Hmmm\n\nBut is it?
@stackeffect \n> sometimes I start writing a twt but then would like to discard it [
]
\n\nThat's already on the TODO.
Actually, it only shows if SMTP is misconfigured . It everything is configured correctly, the email address will not show on logs.
@jlj So, anonymity? The recovery email and matching nick still shows on logs, once a password reset is initiated. đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž
@prologic I don't understand the mysticism behind not storing email addresses. I can create an email address in seconds. What is the issue about storing them? What makes not storing them so amazing?
@prologic let's do it! Wouldn't you agree it is a better way to login? Again, food for thoughts.
@laz animated GIFs have always been possible. Just linking to them, not uploading them through Yarn, though.
@laz \n> So, I thought the argument against Trump was not that he is who he is but that his social media took the free work, made changes and didn’t share those changes.\n\nThat is the argument, exactly.
@laz 😂 Will do!
Hey, @prologic, a thought. You have a Micro.blog account, right? What will it take to implement the same login method on Yarn? That is—for those who might not know Micro.blog, and/or how it works—you enter an email address, and receive a link to login, no password to enter, or remember.\n\nIs that something doable? It truly increases adoption with a non-friction login. I mean, Micro.blog adoption might not be big (because it is for profit), but signing up for it is truly easy.
@prologic on its defence, I get the same feeling when reading allegedly English twts. \n\nI think OP is just twting thoughts, short bursts, and the like.
@prologic woot!
@prologic it is certainly a regression, as it used to render fine before.
How about blockquote in the middle? Let's find out!\n\n> Blockquote?\n\nOr...\n> Blockquote?
OK, so far it is only blockquotes, for what it seems. How about code?\n\n
\n#!/bin/bash\necho "hello world"\n
Yup. @prologic, rendering of blockquotes has issues. How about *italics*, or bold? Or a link?
@quark \n> quoting something in it. \n\nSo, I hit RETURN after the subject, and nick, then entered the blockquote. Let's see how it goes. I will not edit this twt.
@prologic \n> I play Travian [
]
\nBrowser based, PHP driven game. Woah!
@adi>What are you doing on Discord?\n\nWhat kind of question is that? What one does on Discord? Well, discording, that's that! 😂
@adi \n> What are you doing on Discord?\n\nWhat kind of question is that? What one does on Discord? Well, discording, that's that! 😂
@laz yeah, sorry! Arrakis is a test pod that is leaning towards becoming permanent. Glad to have you following!
and this reply as well. I wonder what’s cooking.
well, it showed fine this time. Let’s see this reply.
A twt from web on mobile. Let’s see if it shows on timeline without refresh.
Another things (from IRC):\n\n> When you post a twt, it doesn't show on timeline right away. I need to refresh the page to see it.\n> Same for replies. \n> Also, sometimes I edit a twt, and two (the original, and the edited) remain showing (even on clear cache refreshes) for a little. After some time, the original drops, and the edited one remains.\n\nMaybe it has to do with caching?
Ah, I can see things now precisely because settings are not sticking. The whilelist images and domains are empty. Duh! 😂
@prologic now I see them (from a while ago) and your reply. Settings are still not sticking.
Yup, nothing from Quark is seeing here. Boo, booooo! 😂
@quark testing to see if you see this, mate. Go profit!
@prologic, seeing these on logs:\n\n
\nWARN[1441] attempt to fetch blacklisted feed @<eldersnake https://yarn.andrewjvpowell.com/user/eldersnake/twtxt.txt>\nWARN[1441] attempt to fetch blacklisted feed @<off_grid_living https://twtxt.net/user/off_grid_living/twtxt.txt>\nWARN[1441] attempt to fetch blacklisted feed @<quark https://ferengi.one/twtxt.txt>\nWARN[1441] attempt to fetch blacklisted feed @<stigatle https://twtxt.net/user/stigatle/twtxt.txt>\nWARN[1441] attempt to fetch blacklisted feed @<mckinley https://twtxt.net/user/mckinley/twtxt.txt>\nWARN[1441] attempt to fetch blacklisted feed @<adi https://f.adi.onl/user/adi/twtxt.txt>\nWARN[1441] attempt to fetch blacklisted feed @<jlj https://twt.nfld.uk/user/jlj/twtxt.txt>\nWARN[1441] attempt to fetch blacklisted feed @<darch https://twtxt.net/user/darch/twtxt.txt>\n
\n\nI have not blacklist those, of course. So, what's the meaning of it?
And now is fine. Weird.
Woah! I am seeing older twts popping up at the top of the timeline now. Weird.
@prologic while on this one, after a pull, and make, all the whitelisted domains are gone.
Did you mean (single backslash)?\n\n
\nnotty.\\dk\nport70.\\dk\n
@lyse \n> So what terminal do you guys recommend?\n\nI am macOS. 😂 On Linux, I boot on runlevel 3 for everything I do.
@lyse no problem. That client’s crawl feature seems interesting for discovery on clients like yours, or @movq’s.
@xuu like we did here #zzlgqaq? 😂
@movq what kind of client, or operating system, doesn’t have emoji these days? 🙈 I know Microsoft Windows renders them atrociously, but @lyse ain’t on Windows, right?
@lyse, some nice clicks there! I am also wanting to point out that I love, very much, those German words that carry so much meaning: “Walk in the woods”. Wish English would have borrowed those!
@lyse I don’t know about you, but it looks pretty scary to me, mouth moving or not. 😅
\n> it seems there’s another client called tt\n\nYup.
@prologic I am, but I am favouring this account over twtxt.net, Laz follows the last but not this one. \n\nThe several feeds I own have a purpose, but I understand they might cause confusion. Sorry!
@prologic the key is on the German word, schadenfreude.
@darch the site’s SSL certificate is expired.
From TheTweetofGod:\n\n> “There is no man-made problem so bad that a man-made solution can't make it worse.”\n\nAin’t that the truth.
@stackeffect both replies are fine. @prologic replies to @lyse saying tt is very good. @lyse replies to me and @prologic: telling me his client sucks, and telling prolog that it is really good for him.\n\nBoth of their replies start with my twt about jenny being the best client ever.
@movq oh wow, I love it! It is as if I am looking at a still from a game. It looks surreal!
@eldersnake see this thread, as it has the background behind the change.
“Argue for your limitations and, sure\nenough, they're yours.”\n\nAnd with that in mind, I will turn into a pumpkin.
> We are born without choosing to, to parents we haven’t chosen, into bodies and borders we haven’t chosen, to exist in a region of spacetime we haven’t chosen for a duration we don’t choose.\n\nThe Margilanian is worth reading.
@prologic I don’t think it is worth it for the information gotten, and how it is updated.
@prologic If there a way to shorten the minutes to min and seconds to sec?
More from Hugo’s announcement on picking the library as default:\n\n> The “CommonMark compliant” part is the main selling feature of Goldmark, but with that you also get attribute syntax on headers and code blocks (for code blocks you can turn on/off line numbers and highlight line ranges), strikethrough support and an improved and configurable implementation of TableOfContents.
@prologic it’s CommonMark compliant and GitHub flavored, and both fast and flexible. It is Hugo’s default library for Markdown. I have used Hugo for a long time, and it is awesome (and fast!).
@prologic in the long run, Goldmark is the way to go.
not only is unfair for the woman, but also speaks very little about the males’ abilities.
We really need to stop this patriarcal bs in which a woman with five brothers is the one who exclusively cares for parents, handles doctor’s visits, arranges funeral affairs, and so on and so forth.
@movq \n> I’ve started implementing that “don’t recreate deleted mail files” thingy\n\nPretty cool! I will check it out tonight. The best CLI twtxt client, bar none! Nothing personal, @lyse. 😊
@thecanine that’s easy to test. Not at home now, but will test upon reaching.
@prologic Whichever is easier. I don’t think many people care about fractions.
@prologic I see, so Yarn is resizing images. I asked because I wanted to know the criteria. When does images/videos get resized? To what size?
@prologic some got fixed, some got broken. đŸ€·đŸ»â€â™‚ïž
@adi isn’t it evening in Romania now? Pass 13:00 hours here, so morning is also gone. 😂
@movq we are on a countdown now. Next weekend is our turn. I dislike the transition, but would love it if we kept it the same all year long. #enddst
@prologic, what kind of compression, and resizing, is Yarn applying to uploaded images? Is it doing the same to videos?
@jlj I would probably do the same. I call it being efficient. Hahaha!
@jlj excellent, thank you! The EnvironmentFile is just a file with export VARIABLE=value in it, right?
@thecanine keep in mind I don’t use the mobile app, and when I write about UI/UX I am referring to the web front-end.
@jlj ah, I can smell the freshness of the trees, and the coolness in the air! Happy hunting to them!
