@prologic if you don’t mind using a saas ci I would recommend Bitrise. they have a free tier that should be enough. but if you have Mac server you can use Fastlane and have it all hooked up to TestFlight
@prologic I read the issue. I don’t think you need an entreprise account. I think you can sort out using CI, where once something is merged to a branch it pushes out a build to Apple Store Connect. Would that achieve what you want?

@fastidious @prologic I will need to have a look. I have changed laptops recently so my Goryon setup is missing and I am in a middle of an international move coming up in two weeks so I won't promise that I will look at it too soon but I will try.

@ocdtrekkie @prologic The only convenience that I see on Github (apart from the discoverability) it is that with one account I can create issues in any project. If we start hosting our code on our own Github like instances we will need to have an account for each instance. Which is a bit inconvenient (just a bit because we are likely to use a password manager and it would be set once and forget)
@ocdtrekkie @prologic Perhaps treating the Github project page as a Twitter™ account that some OSS project have where you can link to the real project source and have a Readme there on Github with a FAQ. I don't know. But it is a bit of the story repeating itself, right? Some website comes around, looks inoffensive, everybody start using it, becomes relevant to what we do, and then, some company comes around and start to change rules and abusing it. I think the lesson is only one here: Take ownership of your identity and don't rely in a centralized service.
@prologic If you feel that strong about it I think this is enough of an abuse from M$ and Github. But despite of that, today we have great alternatives for self-hosting such as Gitea. But I also think Github gives a great exposure to projects that helps discoverability and bringing new collaborators.
@prologic @jlj @xuu I am not a heavy user of IRC, so I don't know but I would consider using libera over freenode. I actually don't get it. The person who sold the freenode, what did it sell? Just the domain name, right? But since IRC is centralized it gets all the communities in it? It probably had a value because the irc server and all the ppl connecting to that domain?

@prologic @xuu @mckinley I haven't heard of Threema. And you are right you need to connect your phone to the desktop app to use Signal on the computer.
@prologic @mckinley @xuu I heard ppl were worried that Signal haven't update the source code upstream in a while. I mean I agree it is the best option but I am also still looking around.
I hate automatically software updates. And when settings changes on me I hate even more. 😡
@prologic @mckinley @xuu That is the one. I used it before. Did some tests early on and wasn't impressed. The video calls lagged a bit. Perhaps they have improved it. I also would like to look into what happened with the ownership you mentioned. The last thing I want is to switch all family members to another Whatsapp.
@xuu @mckinley @prologic yeah that makes sense. I personally use smartphones but I can see your point. Right now I don't have a way around it, specially after I became a smartphone app developer. 😱

@movq @prologic I read somewhere that Signal is considering removing the phone number requirement. Hopefully this will be a option for you soon. I also wish Matrix has easier for normal users. To setup the server I used Yunohost and it was really easy, even with federation.

One online for the bulk of things I bookmark for later but I still use the local bookmarks for tools I access all the time like my CI tool, my bug manager, etc. Can you tell me more about external search engine shortcuts?

@eldersnake So far so good. I haven't got any RAM issue so far. I am trying to keep the number of tabs down. I found that if I start to opening too many tabs it will get very slow.
Today I switched all my working settings like bookmarks, extensions, etc from Chrome to Firefox. Now Firefox will be my main browser. I am happy to do this change. Also I am using DuckDuckGo including the iOS browser as my main browser

@prologic I definitely heard the: "I don't say anything important one." But most ppl are starting to understand the privacy invasion mostly because of the relevant ads that they are seen. I still think that the convenience and the fact that most ppl they know are in the platform will be what will stop most ppl from moving.

@adi @ionores I think Session is decentralized while Signal is still centralized but with a good privacy and encryption.
@adi @ionores I have Session installed too. I think it is a bit buggy on iOS. But it is getting there.
So many ppl coming to Signal that the app stopped working for me. But I do hope that Signal can handle the income of users and become the de facto app for messaging.
