@movq My grandpa always put woodchip wallpaper on the ceilings and painted it white. I will take a photo tomorrow when the journey continues.
@stutteringsteve Yes, I organize it in the filesytem like @movq describes. But additionally I try to tag the files too, so that the entry in the player looks alright. I don't have playlist files, though.
@movq I continued ripping wallpaper off the ceiling. And then started on pulling down the lose render (or whatever it is called) as well. It was a miracle that it stayed up on its own.
@prologic Haha, I bet it's different from what I have in my naive mind.
@niplav You will find it in sandboxes.
@movq Yeah, I was really surprised, too. And I never heard of the DOS emulator up until yesterday. Agreed, 1.5x speed works fine.
@movq Hahaha, sounds like a hickup. In the very beginning I pronounced it "moffk" in my head.
@homer Hahahaahaaaa, lol! Sounds about right. :-D
@off_grid_living Ah, I was not aware of such a distinction between gray and black. In the town everything just goes to the water treatment plant.
@off_grid_living Oh yeah, this is really cool! Very nice to have so much space. I'd love to have a lot this size, too. So waste water goes into a septic tank I assume?
Nice, Linus Torvalds on Linux at DECUS 1994 audio recordings were rediscovered and published. Just listened to the first bit, now onto the second one about the issues.
@fastidious Hahaha, how mean! :-D Happy holidays to you all.
@prologic I'm too tired to think now (it's nearly three in the morning over here), I need to go to bed.
@prologic Let's workaround that, second to last line: https://www.uninformativ.de/twtxt-old_2021-12-23_f6y65bq.txt
> a) 01.jpg is an awesome shot 😍 b) So is *this* “the woman in the red dress”? 🤔
@prologic Cool, our dad also built us a hut to play in when we were kids. That's really cool. Let me tell you, green window shutters hinged at the top were the best thing on this structure. We loved to play shop with them.
@movq Sorry, I'm too tired and lazy to reconstruct the hash of your rotated twt promoting the abend.jpg. Oh yeah, this is a hell of a shot, well done, my friend! It's just sooo cool on so many levels. The sky, the blinking tower on the horizon, the planets, the street lights in the foreground. I love it. Truely awesome. I'm also very pleased when I see Jupiter, Saturn and Venus in a row in the evenings, quite magical.
@movq Thanks. Hahaha, very nice, I true love your humor a lot! :-D
@movq @prologic Indeed, I missed them. Hmm, maybe your rotation strategy could be adjusted slightly, so that you keep let's say the ten most recent items in your main feed and only rotate the rest. That would help crappy clients that don't adhere to the spec. Such as tt.
@ullarah Bwahahaaaahaahhaaaaaa, this is fucking hilarious! :'-D I'm literally laughing for five minutes now. :-D
@prologic The woman on the tall bench is a bronze sculpture cast in a nearby art foundry. The artwork goes by the name of "Frau mit rotem Kleid", in English "Woman with red dress" by Ludwig Bauer in 2004. But it was moved much later to the current location. I saw her sitting in front of the foundry. Somebody put a scarf around her neck a couple of days ago which I find quite funny.
It was kinda strange, that it got warmerish (~1°C) on our return today. I'm not used to hike in the morning. Southern view at 11 o'clock still looks a bit like sunrise The big oven was about to be used again to presumably bake bread. https://lyse.isobeef.org/waldspaziergang-2021-12-23/~
@sorenpeter Looking crazy, but I like them. The orange one is my favorite.
Oh yeah, Glitter Bomb version 4 for package thieves is available! \o/ https://youtu.be/3c584TGG7jQ

@prologic That sounds great! Three months seems like a very good number to me.
@ullarah Hahaha, that looks really cool, mate! I love it. "Don't throw away yarns!" That's inspired by ancient "don't litter" signs, right?
It was quite nice actually, my mate whipped me up the mountain, so temperatures weren't an issue at all. I almost drowned in sweat when reaching the summit. Crystals of leftover snow on a bench form pretty nice patterns A small bit of snow could be found up top, but not much. It will be gone by the day after tomorrow I assume. The setting sun was fricking red again. https://lyse.isobeef.org/waldspaziergang-2021-12-21/
Yes, @prologic, a thicker jacket, scarf, beanie and gloves are advised. It also helps to wear long johns. @ullarah, let's see what today's hike in two hours will be like. ;-) No white holidays for us, @ionores, they forecast 3-8°C for the weekend.
It's -2°C right now, in the afternoon the temperature will peak at 1°C and go back down again to -5°C at night.
@prologic @ullarah Let me send some white frost to you: Hoar frost on the trees There are even some tiny icicles on the metal frame of the washing line.
@prologic Very simple, but effective mechanism.
@prologic Ta! The videos were always linked on the pages themselves, if any. But you're right, I tried it inline in the yarn for the first time today. Quite impressed that it simply worked. Very good job, mate!
@ionores Thank you very much! Jumping had always been my thing somehow. :-)
@fastidious Hahaha, thanks! Jumping on a 40 cm tall object isn't too hard. ;-) I'm glad you didn't mention d) the workshop is a mess and needs cleaning up. :-D
The footstool worked like a charm. It was the perfect height. The platform size wasn't actually too small as I thought it might. It wouldn't hurt if it was bigger, but transporting this was very easy, the bigger sheet would not have fit in the trunk.
I also added more photos in case somebody is interested in the crude but functional joinery.
@homer @prologic Thanks! Woodworking is a nice hobby I started after watching Matthias Wandel on YouTube for several years. I thought, it's sooo fucking cool, I wanna do this, too. Unfortunately, I spend too much time on other (mostly useless) stuff.
@lohn For all my private code I use Vim. GoLand only at work.
Alright, check this out. Flipped over footstool I dug through my lumber rack and sort of quickly throw together this footstool out of scraps. Tomorrow, I have to flushtrim the diagonals and screw them in place. They're just glued at the moment. The footstool doesn't look nice but it doesn't have to be. It only needs to be ridgid, which it is. Looking forward to use my new 40 cm tall helper. In hinsight I probably should have used the bigger sheet of particle board to get more walking area. Let's see, at least it's bigger than my shorter footstool I used yesterday. Another photo.
@off_grid_living Wow, that was rather quick! I like how much space you have in that kitchen. You can really get some cooking and canning done.
@prologic Just check it once a day via cronjob and regenerate the page. Or maybe each hour. And also publish the last checked timestamp along with the results.
@prologic I have a ladder, but a small platform is just ten times better if you don't have to move it around so many times.
@fastidious Yep, that's also my take on this matter.
@off_grid_living I can relate to that very well. Each summer camp the children built huts in the woods with handtools only. We custodians (not sure what's the proper English term) set up a scenery for the daily theater play and the kids to play in. Really great fun nailing things together, but also tiring. Looking forward to your wall progress photos. :-)
@ionores That feels good, thanks for the tip, mate! Now, let's see how much of a mess I will produce on mouse and keyboard.
Four hours of scraping wallpaper off the ceiling and ripping down a styrofoam ceiling took its toll: Giant blisters on both palms from the putty knife. I could feel them in the shower just now. The spray bottle's head disintegrated just enough so that it leaked water that ran down my sleeve all the time. Very annoying. Tomorrow I need to build a taller stool to continue more comfortably on Monday.
@prologic Who is "us"?
@movq @prologic Yes, exactly. It's sick, no question about that (probably asscovering, making sure people understand licensing, I dunno). On the other hand, hey, at least it's somehow possible. :-S
@ionores Oh that's a good idea!
@prologic Woohuu, there are bricks in the background! :-)
@off_grid_living Awesome! Quite a funny look with the beautifully finished floor but a missing wall and a hanging down rough corrugated metal sheet from the ceiling. :-D Coming together nicely.
@movq Yes, when I was a kid, I put wet towels on the radiator to help with that.
@movq Training as in course of instruction, education or schooling (Schulung).
@jlj At least here we have to do three trainings in order to be allowed to legally contribute. I think it's three, maybe even more. Awareness, Use and Contribute or something along those lines.
@jlj Didn't read the article, but your quotes seem to be spot on. That's what I experience as well. There might be a slight change, though. Contributing back to upstream now seems to be a tiny bit easier than it used to be from what I grasp. But I personally haven't done that so far. There was no opportunity so far. And I still have to do the mandatory special training which allows me to do so.
@fastidious The weather report claims 99% humidity, which sounds about right to me if I look out the door. Fog. This afternoon was maybe 60-70% I think. It doesn't compare to your climate. Haha, lol! Yeah, the black sheep was well-bred. In 5 they cut down all the brush the other day and one of the arborists probably had some fun with the chainsaw I imagine.
Except for three very tiny shady and cold spots where the sun never gets to, the snow was completely gone. Before we got there, we saw sheep next to the road without a fence. Luckily the shepard was nearby and drove them back. Sheep enjoying the grass We also came across a rabbit at the top of the mountain. The weather was quite warm today, when the sun was out on the way there, 4°C felt more like 10°C. Finally, clouds drifted in and kept the warmth. https://lyse.isobeef.org/waldspaziergang-2021-12-17/
@fastidious Yeah, that really sucks a lot. I was in the same situation with incompetent and overpaid work mates at my previous job. Except, I never agreed to be on call.
@fastidious Ah, you're the chief cook and bottle washer.
Three weeks vacation! \\o/
Three weeks vacation! \o/
@fastidious Being on call really sucks. So you're a system operator?
@fastidious You might want to have a look at Go and improve yarnd.
@darch You probably also know Alestorm, right?
@anth Perfect timing, my sent mail to a GMail account just got rejected. $%&/(/&%$§"§!
@darch Oh yeah, Nanowar of Steel are really great, too! :-D
@fastidious I agree, the font is a bit too tall and some slides are changing a tad too quickly. Likes are not only just not recorded, they are even non-existent. I suggest to replace the "sign up" with "operate your own server", or at least add it. That would be more in the spirit of Twtxt. And the meta question is, do people actually wanna watch such a video? I certainly wouldn't, I don't give a shit about ads in general. Also most often not on things I truely consider myself a fan of. But maybe that's just me.
No, @prologic, that's what I heard as well. Several studies show that protection is better if you use a different vaxx for the booster, just as @ionores said. Not sure, though, what happens once you're through all the different vaccines one day.
@fastidious Yes, killfile is better.
The yarn on the ball is quite wide. I personally like logos that have a very limited number of colors. But I'm not an artist, so who am I to judge? :-)
@ullarah Reminds me of Blinkenlights.
@fastidious I don't play. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't have any time for this. I'm busy wasting my time with watching videos. So e.g. yesterday evening I irrecoverably lost precious two hours of my life with reaction videos to We got the moves by Eskimo Callboy
@fastidious Congrats! :-D
@fastidious @ullarah Try "One barrel of coffee" next time.
@fastidious @ullarah Try "One barrel of coffee" next time.
@fastidious Either block them at the mail server or have fun and rudly reply back that you don't give a shit.
@laz Looking forward to some photos of your mountain trip. :-)
@fastidious Menus also degrade keyboard navigation such as f in Tridactyl, in case somebody cares about that. Might be okay for less frequently used operations, such as edit and delete, however, introducing a second step for reply and fork is probably very annoying. Again, I don't use yarnd, but if I did, that would be my concerns.
@movq Hahaha, now that you pointed it out, I also see the pun. :-D
100% agreed, @fastidious! 9 ranks quite low. ;-)
@movq Oh yeah!
@movq Oh wow, quite a lot of matches. Image processing was never my cup of tea.
@movq @fastidious @prologic Thanks guys.
@mckinley_tt Oh, this is very nice!
@mckinley Oh, this is very nice!
@movq And there's also the Utah teapot, although by far not as spectacular as Lenna.
@fastidious LOOOOOL! :-D
@prologic @ullarah Hahaha!
Same here, four days left now.
@prologic Your heat is even radiating into the Northern hemisphere, we're climbing up to 6°C over here.
@movq Me too, now.
@jlj They're best run using rm -rf. ]:->
"Matschpilzkran" or in English "Mudmushroomcrane" is the title of today's adventures. A branch leaning against a forest boom gate; this subject does not really fit into today's series This also delivers on my promise to prologic to take shots of the crane field. There you go: https://lyse.isobeef.org/waldspaziergang-2021-12-13/
@xuu I say so, too.
@fastidious LOL!
@fastidious Oh yeah, what a shape. Probably not very useful, but cool looking nonetheless. This shot looks really great in combination with the clouds.
@ullarah, this garden view looks really nice, mate!
@prologic "Follow me to avoid getting deleted" is quite sneaky. :-D
I scraped off wallpaper yesterday (on a Saturday).
@movq Sadly not. Further south there will be snow, but not here in my area.
@movq This is cool!
