I really want to look more into Golang. Maybe I should do more smaller projects, instead of a big one in the beginning? Somewhere I found this "test-driven-development with go". Need to look it up again and finish it, or better: start over!
A curated list of awesome Go frameworks, libraries and software. #programming #awesome
@david nono. I am still experimenting with it on envs.net. Here I played some hours with different CSS frameweorks. Tailwind, Water.css and others. I might be going with mkws if I am in the mood of setting it up.
But you also a point, why should I use a generator when I do update the page, once a year.
@prologic I really like the glider. And now that I remember it again, I might be using it for zn80.net as the logo instead of the CPU. The video itself, very informative and an awesome piece of education. Thank you for sharing.
*Olympic officials will withhold medals in events where Kamila Valieva, the Russian skater who failed a drug test, places in the top three.* NYT - One person - she is 15 years old btw - maybe using drugs, all have to suffer! Dafuq?
I had a M1 8CPU 8GB 512GB one, very nice. But unfortunately I lost it to a not so nice guy. My wife bought a rosegold 8CPU 16GB 512GB one for her study and is doing a lot of Adobe work on it. Ps, Id, Ai and Figma. Beside that she is having all kinds of Documents open. PDFs in Acrobat, Word Documents. A lot of that is related to her study. Working with all of the programs open is about 12-16hrs. Sometimes a bit less depending on how much she uses Photoshop or InDesign. I highly recommend the 16GB RAM version.
@prologic He is a nice guy. I also do recommend Mark Rober. He is doing all kinds of weird stuff with chemicals and elephant toothpaste.
@david Thanks for the update. I really missed that piece of information.
Oh, boy! I as in the middle of writing a blog post about Shiori, when my wife called for dinner. After dinner, I fiddled around with the website a bit and two hours later I am finished with the redesign of zn80.net and the other landing pages! Don't get me wrong. Even while it looks simple, I tested out a couple CSS frameworks while ending up with my stuff anyway.
My wife got an M1 and is super happy with it. I will for sure upgrade next iteration with an M2 or just give her the new one for all things Adobe and take the golden-rose M1. Yes, she has chosen that weird color. ;-)
@david Good news to hear. I haven't followed those releases a lot as I am still working on a 2013 MBA. So I think I will renew my license with Little Snitch when I upgrade to a M1 or M2
@prologic I am with you on the selfish point. For the vaccination, I do think people should get it as we do for all the other stuff as well. But the "being selfish" is a good point I totally agree with you. I think the Asian people do it a lot better. When you are sick, wear a mask to protect the others when you really, really need to leave the house.
@prologic Oh yeah. That's a good one. Saw that a couple months ago. Linus Tech Tips also just released a video about this topic with his RED battery packs https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=Mkum7G-0vWg

@prologic The posts I found are all from 2020, just before the release of Big Sur(veillance?). https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/11/apple-lets-some-big-sur-network-traffic-bypass-firewalls/ for example. It seems that many other articles refer to https://appleterm.com/2020/10/20/macos-big-sur-firewalls-and-vpns/. Big Sur is one reason I installed pfSense. My trust in Apple has been slightly scratched since then.
@prologic but maybe I am seeing sth not. So I might be wrong about the differences. LS can do more locally, yes.
@prologic But with the blocking of unwanted calls locally, you are right.
@prologic with the new m1 Macs and Big Sur(?) Little Snitch can no longer work at the kernel level. And while I like Apple a lot, they haven't covered themselves with glory by bypassing the network extension framework for some of their own domains.
WTH: Comic Mono?!?! https://dtinth.github.io/comic-mono-font/
@prologic little snitch blocks things on your laptop. A firewall. PfSense is a firewall on the local network. Work similar. One on the machine, the other for everything in the network.
@david I think, this applies to everyone. When one does it, then everybody else does. The worst situation with traffic is actually in the morning around the school. So many big cars and SUVs.
Back at home. The drive was ok. But now I am quite tired. Driving in the morning is a better compared to driving in the late afternoon after coffee and cake. Resting on the couch now after a delicious dinner with Shakshouka
Yes you can call it that in one way. Not everything is bad, but blockchain and cryptocurrencies and especially NFTs are not my thing. It is a shady business and I know quite some people who lost more than a 1000 euros.
In the Netherlands we have a speed limit of 100 km/h during the day and from 7 PM to 6 AM it is 120 km an hour. Everybody’s going crazy and even the police is driving faster than they probably should!
And in the meantime I spent about two hours reconfiguring the tv channels for my parents. What a mess it is with satellite tv. 1800 channels and you only need 40 of them. Who watches all this bullshit tv with commercials?
I really hate old cheap hardware. I have an old WiFi repeater from a no name brand. I just cannot figure out, how to reset it.
https://web3isgoinggreat.com/ #Web3 is going just great...and is definitely not an enormous grift that's pouring lighter fluid on our already-smoldering planet.
@david @prologic nobody will come after you, but I also think that if you’re not the only one using a machine, you need more licenses. Computer vs User. I had LittleSnitch in the past, but do not use it anymore. Using pfSense now
After a long and funny evening, it is time to sleep. So happy that I was able to see my sister and her kids again. missed them a lot. everyone is doing fine and all are doing well.
@david no no no. most of them
just stand their. it is the inner parking spot for the houses surrounding that spot. And there is no rush time.
@david and it is even 200 years in front of Germany
Let’s Go! 323km to the destination.
@david you mean thinners right? https://apps.apple.com/de/app/micro-snitch/id972028355?mt=12
Good Morning. Frost and ice over night. brrr
This *Störtebecker Baltik Lager* beer was a bit string. But maybe I am just tired. Time to go to bed. #goodnight
@david Exactly. This is why we also stay with Apple products. They are a bit more expensive when it comes to the initial purchase, but - at least for me/us - they do pay off in the long run.
@david The Hague was and will be always a bit more expensive than other places in The Netherlands. We have so many diplomats, embassies and government agencies and institutions, that everything is more expensive. And yes inflation is coming. This year we have pay an extra 50% for heating and warm water.
@david Now that you said it, the JS usage, it seems that he is doing that. And maybe your right. Own things might not last that long as github.com does.
@david It seems that he is doing that.
I have not thought about this, but Mike seems to have a point here https://mikegerwitz.com/about/githubbub. Maybe I should switch all my projects from github.com to my own gitea or to envs.net?
Updating my iPhone to iOS 15.3.1. - I like how often updates are releases. But more important is, for how long you receive updates! When I look at the phones of my parents of friends. Oh-my-gosh! They use 2 year old Android bases smartphones and already their latest update is 6 months old. #iPhone #Apple
@adi The page is https://envs.net/~cblte - but there is not much yet on it. Maybe I will fill it with more things. But for now it is just an decoration page
@david Yes I enjoyed it. Was takeaway but was good. Still a bit expensive, for 7,50 Euro it could have been a bit more.
today for lunch: Indonesian food. and much better: I am invited!
LUNCH TIME!
@prologic I will try my best to write better in the future :-)
@prologic cm = centimeter, “The hundredth part of a meter; a measure of length equal to rather more than thirty-nine hundredths (0.3937) of an inch. See meter.”=
@prologic i can image that. I tried it yesterday to recreate my envs page. and as far as I could see it will be perfect also for generating Gemini pages as it is small and handy and fast
#GoryanTestFlight there is strange behavior with the keyboard. After tapping twice on space to set the dot, shouldn’t the next letter be uppercase?
Of course. Stuck in traffic on a Friday. And everyone is fighting for every cm on the road. crazy #commuting
I do like the new layout of #Goryan. Also the font is much more readable. no that big and fat anymore.
@prologic ha. mine is not that beautiful. and I did not see yours earlier. nice rainbow.
Good morning from the windy and cloudy side of live
@prologic no problem. Was just funny to read.
@david and is that a good or a bad thing?
Going to bed a bit earlier today. Finished playing around with #mkws. Nice generator. Fast and easy to use. I even managed to get markdown integration.
@prologic I have sent you a DM on IRC. Waiting for your email.
@david Thats the exact translation for it. It is used in Germany for all kinds of things to justify certain laws or orders or whatever.
@david For the on the go. I have so many devices, I can't even keep track of all of them ;-) But it is just hard for me to throw old stuff away.
@david Thats a bad new. But I am upgrading my NAS at home with standard drives. But even the Ironwolf ones are up in price. So I might have to wait a bit. BUt this one is doing fine. 30% used but 46000hrs of duty.
@david Interesting. If I follow my orbsmart account, and then type "@carsten" I get both accounts to choose from. This local one and the other on orbsmart

@prologic I am using the one that is avaiable in the AppStore. If you have a testflight one, I am happy to use that and provide feedback.
@(#bqvebda) @david @prologic hihi sorry for causing confusion. I will update the avatar later today, hope that it will solve some confusion.

@prologic I realized, you are quoting the "wrong" account. Maybe you want to unfollow and re-follow this one here :-)
@adi ah even nicer. I saw mkws for the first time. I like that kind of simplicity
@<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt> (#phhl5bq) thanks again. me also user of envs. very nice server.
@<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt> (#phhl5bq) ah thanks. welcome that
#Goryon is a nice client for twt. I like the simple layout and UI. but I would like to have an option to edit the last twtxt, and maybe set a different font. bold everywhere is a bit hard to read, at least to me
yes. but it is not really a village ;-). Me living in The Hague, NL
@prologic exactly

good morning everyone
@adi @prologic naja. if you have an URL and want to put it inside a text, like this „https://pca.st/episode/8245c79a-1b4c-4f0a-92b6-5a4c13462d03“,
just put it in between quotes and all problems should be solved. or at the end of the post as an attachment outside all sentences.
what’s wrong with naked links? they work normal, right? https://pca.st/episode/8245c79a-1b4c-4f0a-92b6-5a4c13462d03
@prologic that’s super expensive. I mean, sure maybe some magic in the background. but really? you could host VSCode in the cloud for free
@david Got it! I was getting 127 as return code, command note found, using full path for fortune (/usr/games/fortune) did the trick. Now it works.
I am not a fan of him, but I like this quote:
> I don't believe in the concept of an enemy. We have been conditioned to always be in competition. Stop looking for something to beat and just be. You don't have to do all the work. Once you start moving in love the universe will assist you. (kayne west)

Hi @<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt> may I ask you how you have done that fortune output on your website? Thanks
@david Really? Oh ok. Sorry for that.
Updating avatar in between...now I look a bit better ;-)
Almost finished my conversion script for the Wordpress export. It is a bit fiddly but it should do the trick. Just need to figure out, how to get the text into the right format so it will not blow up the twtxt.txt file. #python
@david Thats sounds tasty as well.
Ah, so full. Delicious soup with pieces of bread and slices of bread with pesto on top. For dessert we had small apple cakes. Now I will learn some more Dutch while enjoying a cup of hot milk with honey.
@david Yes, sometimes it is easy and sometimes it takes some time. Especially when the program is not written by yourself and you are the one who is taking over a broken project.
I like it when a program finally works. No I can go home and get some dinner. 😋
@prologic Looks good. Thanks for looking into this. Will test it when back home. But for now the binary from the docker image is working fine.
I heard, that it was a disappointment for a lot of people with a really bad start. Super long waiting times
Good Morning everyone.
First post here! Finally, managed to set it up with everything working. Happy I can go to bed now.
