From our vacation to Colorado. This one was taken somewhere around Pikes Peak. Kid was daring, and partner was afraid. I took the photo.

Kid at Pikes Peak
@ionores oh yeah! Of course! My children do not know about that one, because sadly it is no longer. Cartoons have changed quite a bit since. 🥲
@xuu it is all about standardising. It doesn't matter how is named, actually, but for auto-discovery, having it to be something constant is preferred. Wether twtxt.txt or nick.txt it doesn't matter, as long as it remains the same.

I have seeing it as many things. If being linked from a website, and auto-discovery is not needed/wanted, then anything works.
By the way, a Twtxt file is implied to be a plain .txt file, same as an Atom feed is an XML, .xml. There is no need to spell out the extension.
@darch, your #555 commit changes nothing. I don’t follow, what was the change?
@ionores likewise! In Spanish we call them “pájaro carpintero”, meaning “carpenter bird”. There were quite a few of them around my childhood’s house trees.
@yarn_police just a quick, short, note to thank you for your service. 🚓👮🏻‍♀️👮🏻👮🏻‍♂️🚔
@lyse we have so many squirrels here, they are borderline a pest. On squirrels, when we went to Austria, we saw this one, which was different i colour to any squirrel we have seeing before.

As a comparison, this is how our squirrels look like:

@lyse indeed, the mileage of that one is probably around 10-15mpg, or so. If not worse! 😬
@lyse you would have lots of fun with a kite here. We live 45 minutes from the sea, and there is always wind there. When children were small we had quite a few good times flying them by the beach.
@lyse those container ships had to be 5km, or less away. If I were to guess, I would say around 3-4km from the beach.
@prologic how did this happen? See the hash? Yesterday it happened to me too, when I forked a twt. Is there a bug lurking somewhere?
@prologic if “filling the blanks” was possible to provide the context, I am all for it!
Of course, same will apply if you interact with someone you follow, but I don’t, whether is a feed or not. That is the inherent drawback of twtxt. If it catches on, then this drawback has the potential to grow fairly unmanageable.

I don’t think there is a solution for this right? I mean, I can’t subscribe to everyone’s feeds, so that I can see contexts on yarns.
@prologic see this twt of yours, for example.

I mean, feeds are one way only. The Dilbert feed will never reply to you, correct? And, as you can see, there is no context for it once I see it in my pod.
So, I don’t get replying to feeds. Two reasons: they can’t reply back, and the reply context is lost across pods (because not all pods follow the same feeds). Is there a reasonable solution?
@prologic ah, I see! Eventually things will have to happen though. I mean, imagine if city governments required that everyone use horse drawn carriages. Or if we were to still sail across the oceans using wind as propulsion. Things change, and the old, well, is left behind.

Anyway, not an easy feat. The new timeline approach on issues looks more doable. 😊
@prologic woohoo! 🥳🎉 The hard part is done. Maintaining it now is ease pease.

Slightly off topic, but still on it. I have thought about the timeline, and I think it will greatly be improved with an ever fetching, “never ending” approach.

How difficult would that be to implement?
@prologic did you just hotlinked this one? 😬😅
OK, I found this red oldie one. Ttfn! ☺️

Last one for the night: morning sky.

@prologic that’s very neat, and a very good start! If I knew I would help documenting. Take some rest mate, Rome wasn’t built in one day. 😊
Yes, that’s me with my Red Hat hat. 😂

@prologic so, all kangaroos left are in captivity, or special reservation areas?! Wow, that’s truly sad.
Not mine, just happened to catch my attention. The click just followed.

Bike by the beach
@lyse the threat list is long in Australia, that’s for sure.
Thank you both! I think I am going to go around tomorrow looking for things to shoot. 😊
@prologic you asked “there a particular setting on the Camera app to be able to take close-ups”, nope. Just get close, tap to focus, and shoot.
Correction, it was with an 11 Pro.
@prologic yup, iPhone. I believe it was the 7 Plus, but let me look the original photo to check the EFIX.
@yarn_police hurry, hurry, fork, fork, fooooooooork!
A succulent’s single flower.

@lyse 🤣🤣🤣 He wasn’t kidding when he said he likes to use emoji. Before I found Yarn’s twtxt, I would normally use a text emoji once every week or so :-). Now it is 😂🤣😅🙈 on every single twt.
Droplets of water in the morning.

Droplets
@lyse hear hear! Let's keep the beauty of text untarnished. All hail emoji.demojize!
@yarn_police yeah guys, let's slow down. We don't want any trouble with the law!
@yarn_police (#7n733mq) oh oh, we better slow down. Sorry officer, we will not do it again! 😅
@movq oh my! It is getting pretty deep, but I figure we will tire before you run out of screen real estate. 😂
@movq for me it has been the "All Activity". The explore has a gem every once in a while (sidebar), and more gems if you go full explore, but I still find the "All Activity" to be the best.
@lyse SpongeBob SquarePants, Yarn Patrol! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@movq will we? Hmm, let us all see how far the might *mutt* can go!
@movq that one. You also get to see things on your "All activity" from the people you follow. What they star, who they follow, which give you leads on what's out there. Since you normally follow people with similar interests as you, you are bound to discover lots of interesting things.
@lyse HAHAHAHA! This is way too much fun! ⋔⋔⋔
@yarn_police thank you for the announcement. I would have been in troubles otherwise! 🤣
@lyse they are now in place too, thanks! I wonder is there is something I need to do to for a re-fetch of all feeds, from the people I follow...
@lyse bingo! That exact one. We joked around, and @prologic actually recommended something useful, as you can see. Sadly not well taken. 😞
@xuu tell me flag, for Pete sake! Help me out! 😂
@movq back to the question. He got upset because he was told to get a job when he was begging for a donation, and simply left.
@lyse you are right, that’s weird. As I understand it, the cache is supposed to populate if older twts and brought up.

Is there a way to control how big of a cache to keep, @prologic? Because I would like to extend mine two, or three times more. That is, to cache more things, for longer.
@lyse if we had hearts, I would ❤️ it. But we don’t, so I have to write this little blurb. Either way, ❤️ it!

I use GitHub. When you star repos, or fork them, the AI knows your interests, and recommend based on that. Same when you interact with repos, either by commenting, discussing, adding issues, or PRs. Same when you follow other people. You have it use the platform to get usable things out of it.

Exposure on GitHub would be ten, or thousand folds better than on an obscure, sometimes on/off, self hosted Gitea. I mean, it is just logical.
@lyse wow. I mean, just wow. Dude! Like, wow. Fucking A.
Ops, just saw it on tiny font at the bottom of the photo: Canon EOS 600D, EF 70-300mm, at 300mm. D'oh! 🙈
@movq really, *really*, really neat photos! I know what rig @lyse has, but what about you? Care to share your setup?
About running more than one instance of *yarnd* on the same machine, @prologic. Is it OK to run the same executable, pointing it to a different -d, -s, -u, and -b, or must I run two different executables?
I was not mindful. I should have cropped this photo before uploading. So sorry!
@lyse this was the original.

Original for the grey scale
@lyse I converted it to grey scale. I will post the original later, so you can see.
That—ham and cheese croissant—and Vietnamese coffee was my breakfast.

Ham and cheese croissant
@lyse 🤣🤣🤣
@darch it looks good. It just needs to be finished (light and dark), and mobile ready (many of us use mobile a lot). I can’t wait!
@lyse totally up my alley! I was wondering when we will get to see some Winter whites, and here they come! ❄️😍
First day of my mini-staycation. I think I am justified to go over mum's with a few fresh croissants and have her very strong Vietnamese coffee (strong coffee sweetened with condensed milk) with it. I know she likes to sleep until 09:00 or so, but if I get there 15 minutes before it would not be that much of a difference.

Day's cloudy, perfect for pastries and coffee. Off I go!
That sky... 😍 and the colour contrast with the field below... 😍 Nice click!
@prologic for the love of god, someone work the CSS for profile and external profile. The nick needs to be centre aligned.

As for the follow link, it is hugely grotesque. It also needs thought and work. I wish so much I was good on UX/UI! 😩

@deebs that is a well known feature, first announced last year. You can turn it off. I find it very useful, and use it every day on macOS and iOS.
@lyse (#zxaj5ya) where is my fork?
@xuu *Yarn Patrol*: "You are fined!" 😂
Or just click my avi, and click follow. I don't know why I didn't think of that.
@will "arrakis huh….." 😂 Go to "Settings", paste the feed I provided on the "Follow a new user or feed", and hit "Follow".
Interesting, I found the source code behind it. It is written in go, same as Yarn.
@will ah, I see! Will check it out. Amongst the issues I have with Scuttlebutt is the lack of an appealing desktop client. I run macOS.

Off topic, I think you are following the now deleted "fastidious" on the twtxt.net pod. Add this one instead: https://arrakis.netbros.com/user/fastidious/twtxt.txt.
@will I know Scuttlebutt, I have used it in the past. What is scuttle.space, a pub server?
@will I tell the same to family. “Call me, message me, or simply drop by.” They don’t live in other countries, not even in other State. Heck, many live within my own phone area code!

“Create a fake account, it is just for family to keep in touch”, they tell me. Absolutely not. Then I remember that amongst the reasons I quit a month or two after joining in 2006 was how I strongly disagreed with everything they were sharing with me: the pushing of their religion down my throat, their racist comments, and their political nuggets so opposite to my own.

So, why to stay in a medium they just upsets me? Yup, no, thank you.
Finally, I envy your snow. I haven’t seeing snow, nor touch it with my hands, for over twenty five years. Every Winter I think “this is it”, yet doesn’t happen.

Sorry about your shivering. Know that, at least, someone hankers for your snow.
I am lucky somehow. I don’t crave for the mainstream social media. I have no interest. Family in both side have tried to get me to Facebook and they have failed. They have tried the nice way, and they have gotten mad. Both approaches have failed.

I am a sporadic Twitter reader. I now dabble here. Tomorrow? Who knows.
@will, the Internet in general has gotten worse through the years. I can’t help but remember what my parents used to tell me, “when I was your age…” followed by something that was better, and then it was not. I thought it was old folks talk. Well, now is my turn.
Semi-watching “Black Widow”—which isn’t worth watching, by the way, but that’s just me—I came across this:

> “Real power comes from undetectable influence.”

For such a shitty movie, I believe the sentence to be accurate, isn’t it?
Shades of grey.

The real Nyan Cat (not my cat, it came from The Tubes).

@movq regarding this:

> Exposure: This has been brought up earlier, I still don’t get this point.

The kind of exposure I referred to was developers. Skilled individuals that could join, and/or contribute to the project. Yarn needs that kind of exposure.
@lyse for what is worth, videos show fine here. Such a cute fox!
Hmmmm... and now?
I clicked "Fork" on a top level twt, what would it happen? Let's find out!
A test. This twt show not have a "Fork" associated with it, as forks are only for replies within a conversation, right?
@lyse wow, you even got foxes! Can it get any better?! You, my friend, are living in paradise. 🎶 "...Oh heaven is a place on Earth..." 🎶
@jlj aaaah! That oughta do it! LOL. The last time I was *very* drunk, you know, to the point of having someone stealing something from me, was 30 years ago, when got my release from the army. That night I got drunk to boot, puking and all. Never again.
@lyse also, I know it might be easy for me to say, because the weather here---albeit cloudy---is rather warm at 24°C, but I would love to be on the weather you are having right now. And so the "grass is always greener on the other side" saying comes to mind. Ha!
I think that you have said this many times before, but might be worth saying it again: caching is hard. I think it is all about caching here, for sure.
Oh, wow, now the fork formed, and the hashes disappeared. 🤯
Something fishy is happening, @prologic. I hit "Fork" on this twt and instead it created this one, which I see headless on my pod.

I am also seeing hashes, when I have the feature to hide them enabled. Something very fishy indeed.
Hmm, forks ceased to work now? Let me test a couple of things, as it might be caching.
On this regard, see how crispy that image is @prologic? If I were to upload it (it ain’t mine, so I wouldn’t do it), the quality would be affected. That is something we need to work on.
