@prologic Mastodon is open source. So, I thought the argument against Trump was not that he is who he is but that his social media took the free work, made changes and didn't share those changes.
@prologic not sure which part you are responding to, so will answer both parts. Ultimately, it's your project, and after putting in so much time, it's justified that you make this decision based on what you are happy with...

@fastidious @prologic Ah the fastidious account that I thought was finished. When I clicked on this account, the last twt showed 3 weeks ago and I saw prologic tagging the twtxt account. After following it grabbed the new twts.
Oh, while you are tweaking the cache, will that affect how twtxt twts propogate to my pod? A lot of my Mentions disappeared. Just wondering what the reason might be

@eldersnake I was once considering a wacom one, they do seem to have the advantage of mature drivers. I think the article says its possible to just say no to the privacy policy, but I understand the proteat.

I keep mis-clicking settings on the mobile site with my thumb and logging out accidentally :/
I think the blogging has some potential and utility for people who can't set up their own blog.\n\nOne issue I though that was kind of disappointing was that due to the nature of the twt cache, after some time everyone's blog looks stale like there hasn't been any engagement.
Congrats! If your internet router is somewhere else, make sure to get it a small one, too!

@quark I merge the main to my repo, and rebase my branch. Then I can build the new docker image. You pushed me to learn this, so I save myself from the manual process :)
@quark The guide wants you to use their install script and it is designed to be the only thing running (nothing else using port 80/443). I'm trying to run it on a bare machine but have my main nginx forward to the other internal ip

@fastidious At the moment, while many Johns can follow you, you will only see the first one in your list. Likewise I am following quark and quark2. I believe @prologic is aware of this and aiming to fix with john@domain
@fastidious I believe when @prologic types to mention you it will reference the previous account as he is still following that one. If he now follows you at tt.vltra.plus I believe it replaces the previous one.\n\nNow, I don't see you following me because I already have one fastidious :(

@fastidious Ah, yes. Actually it wasn't like this earlier today. This is something I just changed and stuffed up now.\n\nI increased the padding as I noticed the hover for Prev was being cropped. Now I see the consequence of this to the mobile page :(\n\n 
@prologic Yes, this is what I've done.\n\nI'm just highlighting that other sites are allowing *anyone* to toggle this and flip between 'public network' and 'known network'.\n\nThen again, some owners might prefer not to use this e.g. a single-user pod as a personal microblog.
@prologic I mean you have basically done it already.\n\nJust the pod admin chooses to enable or not with discover_all_posts instead of a public toggle button.
@prologic I just enabled it a short time ago! Pod looks a lot more lively for someone arriving and not logged in. Good job!\n\nI think Pleorma does something like this, and allows you to switch between users on the pod instance only and the wider network.
@fastidious Okay, you will notice I have styled it narrower now, too. Not as narrow as adi's, though. I haven't worked out how the top menu works.
@mckinley Also, Snikket is supposed to be a simpler way to setup a prosody server. Movim adds blogging to xmpp, but I think the web front end can be used with any server.
@mckinley I've used both. Conversations is fine; Blabber.im and Monocles are forks with very minor changes. I'm using Monocles atm mainly because the forks added an amoled option. Monal is the other iOS app that might get a little more maintenance. iOS options are weaker.

@prologic @lyse Would it be easy enough to add a link to an external user's blog (twts)? Currently, users won't be aware that an external user has any unless they navigate away from the hosting pod to the external pod.

@prologic I wouldn't worry about it, mate. If I can figure it out, I'm sure others can, too. You must have higher priorities. I'm just playing with what I can.\n\nI saw @adi had squarish avatars, then I realised this is how xmpp apps display them also. The old-school social media style :)

@prologic Governments are probably fine with it so long as the top are able to evade it themselves. Outsources the data collection for free. Government can just demand access to the data for their own purposes.

I edited the light theme on my pod. I wanted something slightly less contrasty.\nI removed the avatar border for a simpler design and increased the size 5px so I can see you better :)
@mckinley Always badly...\n\nI have moved over to storing on my nextcloud. First using the bookmark app, but I don't often return there to find something. Now I just paste recent links into nextcloud notes so I can easily group a series, and move from phone to pc. That requires a clean up now and then
