@jlj @fastidious Cheers! :)
@thecanine @prologic you guys have been busy. I'm a bit behind! I was in the mountains for a bit, and now I'm back I've still been neglecting my server :/
@prologic ooh, gifs!
@fastidious Just update us each month as to which account we should be following :)
@prologic yep!
@prologic Mastodon is open source. So, I thought the argument against Trump was not that he is who he is but that his social media took the free work, made changes and didn't share those changes.
@prologic not sure which part you are responding to, so will answer both parts. Ultimately, it's your project, and after putting in so much time, it's justified that you make this decision based on what you are happy with...
@prologic okay that one (1.05) works for me, as in the Settings page loads properly :)
@prologic I think this decision is for you and those putting in the work.\n\nso if Trump revealed the changes made to Mastodon, he would be in the clear?
@fastidious @prologic Ah the fastidious account that I thought was finished. When I clicked on this account, the last twt showed 3 weeks ago and I saw prologic tagging the twtxt account. After following it grabbed the new twts.
@prologic you asked me to try the one at your site\n\nhttps://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/app/releases
Oh, while you are tweaking the cache, will that affect how twtxt twts propogate to my pod? A lot of my Mentions disappeared. Just wondering what the reason might be
@prologic has @fastidious muted me? Last twt I see is 2 days ago.
You found an Anamita Muscaria :)
@prologic The last release at your git is a year ago?
Same here, using both, not sure what the shorter title does or whether only jenny? command line users would notice a difference
@eldersnake I was once considering a wacom one, they do seem to have the advantage of mature drivers. I think the article says its possible to just say no to the privacy policy, but I understand the proteat.
This is quite well written.\n\nhttps://robertheaton.com/2020/02/05/wacom-drawing-tablets-track-name-of-every-application-you-open/\n\nZzzz
And the settings blank page is from the android release from ~8th Oct
@prologic Yes, I think the text is smaller there. Perhaps a confirm to logout would not bother anyone?\n\nActually, I just tried the mobile app and the settings page wouldn't load for me.
I keep mis-clicking settings on the mobile site with my thumb and logging out accidentally :/
I think the blogging has some potential and utility for people who can't set up their own blog.\n\nOne issue I though that was kind of disappointing was that due to the nature of the twt cache, after some time everyone's blog looks stale like there hasn't been any engagement.
Congrats! If your internet router is somewhere else, make sure to get it a small one, too!
Updated the pod, and off to zzz šŸ˜“
Should have named it Trumpodon, and just changed the masto logo to a T with some yellow hair :)
I think might as well go with Yarn. I don't think many people know what a goryon is.
Also, my domain is missing a 't'\n\ntt.vltra.plus
@prologic What does this script do with this info, where is it displayed?\n\nI think I prefer the manual process, and as I am making my own images, they won't have the same last commit no.\n\nvlra-->
@darch nice nice!
@prologic twtxtfeeds is fine.\n\ntwtxt-er is all I can come with right now.
@jlj haha, no problem. No alerts on Yarn.social šŸ™Œ
@prologic Oh, yeah! šŸ¤Ŗ
@prologic Thanks!\n\nRunning! But the generated links are not including my domain :/\n\nhttps://rs.vltra.plus/feeds
@prologic I'm trying to host yarnsocial/rss2twtxt/. Any tips for docker-compose.yml?\n\nStarting the container is giving me: rss2twt | time="2021-10-21T12:44:22+07:00" level=error msg="error parsing feed : " error="invalid uri: "
@prologic Ah, I was wondering why I always seem to miss these twts
@prologic yeah

Problem is, makers stop releasing updates which forces users to upgrade, at least to another entry level phone.
Wow, nice photograph!
@prologic very cool :)
@quark I merge the main to my repo, and rebase my branch. Then I can build the new docker image. You pushed me to learn this, so I save myself from the manual process :)
@quark The guide wants you to use their install script and it is designed to be the only thing running (nothing else using port 80/443). I'm trying to run it on a bare machine but have my main nginx forward to the other internal ip
Major woes trying to install bigbluebutton today. Cannot get it setup behind my nginx proxy. No functionality beyond loading the index.html :(
@prologic @news šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰šŸŽ‰
@prologic Nice!
Getting the same here, on posts without any replies.
@prologic @quark is displayed as unlinked in your comments. Strangely, your older comments (before refollowing last night) do show as linked.
@prologic I'm already on the latest. Looks like you need to unfollow and refollow.\n\nProblem is, I need @fastidious to unfollow me from the previous domain. If he is not using this anymore, can I force an unfollow?\n\n
@fastidious At the moment, while many Johns can follow you, you will only see the first one in your list. Likewise I am following quark and quark2. I believe @prologic is aware of this and aiming to fix with john@domain
@fastidious I believe when @prologic types to mention you it will reference the previous account as he is still following that one. If he now follows you at tt.vltra.plus I believe it replaces the previous one.\n\nNow, I don't see you following me because I already have one fastidious :(
@prologic is following you at arrakis.netbros.com and my list says you are following me from arrakis.netbros.com. @fastidious I am following you at tt.vltra.plus
@prologic First edit just removed tool tips, second one (deletes the line) removes the button when there's no more pages, as you commented about @fastidious 's idea.\n\n
@eldersnake Another pod! Nice :)
@adi @fastidious Okay, I've documented my changes here :) \nhttps://git.mills.io/laz/yarn/src/branch/vltra_plus\n\nMerged yarns latest changes and rebuilt and running now :)
@quark yeah I gotta stop using my main for testing. What time-zone are you in?
@prologic What is the etiquette for doing this, and for documenting my other stylistic changes? Do I fork your project or just create my own project with the few files I change?\n\nCan I create an account on https://git.mills.io/ ?
@fastidious Yeah, I need to learn how to do that!\n\nPadding has been reverted now. If you clear your cache, mobile should look good again.\n\nI just removed the hover tooltips for Prev / Next (when there no more pages).
@adi Cheers! šŸ¤—
@fastidious Ah, yes. Actually it wasn't like this earlier today. This is something I just changed and stuffed up now.\n\nI increased the padding as I noticed the hover for Prev was being cropped. Now I see the consequence of this to the mobile page :(\n\n
@prologic Yes, this is what I've done.\n\nI'm just highlighting that other sites are allowing *anyone* to toggle this and flip between 'public network' and 'known network'.\n\nThen again, some owners might prefer not to use this e.g. a single-user pod as a personal microblog.
@prologic I mean you have basically done it already.\n\nJust the pod admin chooses to enable or not with discover_all_posts instead of a public toggle button.
@movq Nice one!
@prologic Baby typo :)\n\n
@prologic Good philosophy! šŸ‘
@prologic I just enabled it a short time ago! Pod looks a lot more lively for someone arriving and not logged in. Good job!\n\nI think Pleorma does something like this, and allows you to switch between users on the pod instance only and the wider network.
@fastidious Okay, you will notice I have styled it narrower now, too. Not as narrow as adi's, though. I haven't worked out how the top menu works.
@prologic @lyse Cool, shouldn't there just be a default link to a users twt blogs? e.g. Twt blogs for prologic Twt blogs for jlj.\n\nAn additional link for an external blog, I'm sure would be welcome, too!
@adi @prologic @jlj TOOL :)
@mckinley Also, Snikket is supposed to be a simpler way to setup a prosody server. Movim adds blogging to xmpp, but I think the web front end can be used with any server.
@mckinley I've used both. Conversations is fine; Blabber.im and Monocles are forks with very minor changes. I'm using Monocles atm mainly because the forks added an amoled option. Monal is the other iOS app that might get a little more maintenance. iOS options are weaker.
@prologic No link to blogs in profile.
@prologic @thejuicemedia 'Cool and normal, pal'. It's worrying that such decisions are thought to be necessary to strengthen our alliances. Otherwise, we have to conclude that Australia is not a sovereign state.
@prologic @lyse Would it be easy enough to add a link to an external user's blog (twts)? Currently, users won't be aware that an external user has any unless they navigate away from the hosting pod to the external pod.
I've noticed @darch is following me from twtxt.net but from my side it says he 'does not follow you' šŸ¤”
@prologic I wouldn't worry about it, mate. If I can figure it out, I'm sure others can, too. You must have higher priorities. I'm just playing with what I can.\n\nI saw @adi had squarish avatars, then I realised this is how xmpp apps display them also. The old-school social media style :)
@fastidious @prologic @darch Not on version control but I can share with you. 01-pico.css 99-twtxt.css\n\nHow do you feel about squarish avatars ;)
Welcome, @fastidious!\n\nYou are the first to join this Yarn.social pod :)
Which one do we need? app.apk?
@prologic @adi @darch (#e7igxvq) Yes, yours looks clean, and fits with your minimal philosophy and website. I kinda like the card background of each twt, and I like having muted text. I don't know if I've got the right purple here, or just too much purple...
@darch @prologic Trying a purple dark mode theme :)\n\n
@prologic Governments are probably fine with it so long as the top are able to evade it themselves. Outsources the data collection for free. Government can just demand access to the data for their own purposes.
@slashdot @prologic Probably so they can better surveil and hack their own citizens like Australia with their Identify and Disrupt bill.
@darch Oh, yeah I am anticipating the purple yarn ball.
@darch @prologic Thanks for both compliments :)\n\nFirst time for me using svg code. This was just the first font I tried, a standard Adobe font.
@prologic Can't you just open a browser with the light theme enabled? šŸ¤”\n
@xuu @antonio @prologic @darch @eldersnake @jlj I will try mate. It would be a token of appreciation, but not something I can commit to on an ongoing basis, I'm afraid. This will force me to finally get someone from my Aussie bank on the phone hah
@eldersnake @xuu @fastidious @adi @prologic @jlj @darch I'm using the Dockerfile. Have you changed anything in this for your builds? How do I change the version during the build to get the same as yours instead of 'yarnd 0.0.0@HEAD'
I edited the light theme on my pod. I wanted something slightly less contrasty.\nI removed the avatar border for a simpler design and increased the size 5px so I can see you better :)
@mckinley Always badly...\n\nI have moved over to storing on my nextcloud. First using the bookmark app, but I don't often return there to find something. Now I just paste recent links into nextcloud notes so I can easily group a series, and move from phone to pc. That requires a clean up now and then
@movq Legend!
@adi I found porkbun by whois'ing another site. I moved over from Gandi.net and saved some money.\n\nAlthough, lower prices can temp you to purchase more domains :D
I noticed feeds (Dilbert and slashdot) coming into my timeline today :)\n\nI don't think I changed anything on my end.
The twtxt.net Feeds is not looking too healthy from here\n\n\nI tried to follow the Dilbert feeds from my pod, but twts do not show in the Timeline. Also, if you guys comment on slashdot/lobste.rs, I see your twts, but there is no 'Conversation' button
@prologic Well, we did have SARS-CoV-1, H5N1, H1N1 before this book. It is a hypothetical circumstance. Both Kahneman and N.N. Taleb have a general skepticism of any anyone described as an expert. It's the naive public that in general fetishizes experts and considers them beyond reproach.
@prologic Ten years ago. First published in 2011.
@adi I'm using porkbun.com Pretty competitive pricing, and quick and easy to set up.
@prologic the 'Asian disease problem' 1 of 4\n 2 of 4\n 3 of 4\n 4 of 4
@jlj @laz If you are not afraid to skip ahead, there are a good 2 pages on the "Asian disease problem" that is quite relevant to the times (Ch 34 Frames and R
