@lyse I doubt there is a basement. I have seeing previous photos of the construction, and some seems to be elevated—like in some kind of pillars. This one is an example. Basements take a lot of work, especially if you live in rainy areas.
@prologic do you think he sees what you write (I am assuming he follows you, haven't checked)? I know he doesn't follow me, and I don't know if he ever goes to his mentions stream. Maybe he should get his kid to show him the ropes! 😊
@prologic in Vietnamese it is called Đậu Sốt Cà Chua. I didn't take a click on the one I ate, but this is what it looks like, more or less:

Đậu Sốt Cà Chua
It is a win for some, a tragedy for many. It would be cynical for me, an American, to point fingers on this one, as many of our previous administrations have done similarly just about everywhere. What can I say… bloody humans!
@adi, you hoped @jlj would give you some money, otherwise you would not have come asking. What I truly hope—and this is simply a hope, as I have no control over it—is the @jlj would stop supporting your filthy habit, and instead encouraged you, like the rest of us have done, to get a job. Unless, of course, he is claiming you as a tax dependent (I would still encourage not to support a filthy habit, anyway). 😂

I want to point out that @jlj comes across as a really good fellow, with a really good heart who, in my very own—and only mine!—opinion, is donating to a wrong cause this time. But what he does is none of my business.

Our family donates each year to causes on which people have no control, for those who are caught in the mist of terrible circumstances, or are otherwise dispossessed. Those who we donate have hopes too. They just don't hope for cigarettes, and many do their best to get ahead in life, and not stand with their mouth open hoping for cigarettes to fall in them.

I hope I clarified hope for you. This subject is now plonked.
I knew that eating (two bowls) that deep fried tofu, on that homemade tomato sauce (sweet and spicy), with freshly made steamed rice would give me a food comma. Yet, I couldn't help it. I am just a sucker for mum's food. Now, I am going to crash.
@carsten cool! What language? I would assume Dutch, but assumptions are often misguided. Either way, grats, and keep at it! The best way is not to be shy, and use it constantly (radio, TV, books, etc., all in that language you are learning).
@off_grid_living I read it in a more random way, as "the heaven and the earth created God in the beginning". LOL. Talk about how the mind and sight sometimes work, eh?! 😂
@carsten welcome, my fellow dyslexic twter! I constantly have to go over documentation, and pretty much everything I write, because of the same reason. It can be a pain, and the results often unsavoury.
@jlj you did it this time again. Each time you hit reply on one of these, you are welcoming support, not the people/bot that just joined. 😂
@thecanine LOL. The give away is “bought” (in between double quotes), and the fact I “misplaced my key thingy”. 😂😂😂 Shoot me if I ever buy an NFT!
@<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt> welcome back, three of six! 😊 I am still waiting for my third shot, hoping to have it completed by the end of month.
@thecanine it is an NFT I “bought”. LOL. The proof is in the chains, somewhere, I have just misplaced my key thingy. 😅 😂
@lyse oh, I entertained that idea too. I mean, people hasn’t changed that much through the ages, right? :-P
@lyse bingo! The amphora was key, though there are those other odd details that come when something has been cheaply mass-produced. :-)
@lyse north east corner on the Alpsee Lake, in Hohenschwangau. It was inside a castle. Imagine being rich, having people doing everything for you, and waking up to that view. :-D
Ah! It seems the cache must be refreshed to update that followers list. I was not expecting to having to clear cache to achieve that. I guess it is not a major problem, after all.
I deleted some "users" yet they still show as following the @support account. Is there a cyclic job that will take of that, or is that just rubbish that will be left behind forever? Hopefully the first.
Sven Guckes died yesterday, 20 February 2022 in Berlin, Germany. I interacted with Sven a few times, 20 years, and a bit more, ago, when I got more serious about Mutt. He was helpful, sometimes (very few!) coming across as an ass, but everyone who knew him came to appreciate even those very few instances. He was awesome, and I am sad he is gone.
@novaburst oh my! I am so glad I no longer know what’s that. Haven’t seeing a core dump in over 10 years, easily. Knock on wood! 😅
@thecanine pfff! You already gave it much more attention that I would have ever had. I know it might make some people curious, but when it comes to Covfefe, I fully pass.
@adi sure, here, have some! 🚬🚬🚬🚬🚬 Use one per day! If you need more let me know. There is more from where those came from!
What do you find odd, or wrong, about this one? I know, it might be too obvious.

There is something wrong on this one; find out and tell me.
@thecanine, I am curious, which few browsers dropped off their macOS development? It has to be some very obscure ones, because I haven’t heard of it.
I am trying to understand the rationale behind these smash-the-keyboard accounts that were just created. Is it to test the super simple, trouble free registration? It can’t be for spamming as Yarn truly isn’t conducive for that.
@prologic oh, I bet, but tried telling that to partner and that got me into a senseless quarrel. Main driving force other than having the indicator gone off? We got a discount coupon in the mail. That’s it, that’s why I am here.
Time for an oil change for one of the two fossil fuel vehicles in the house. We were supposed to change it 2 February 2021, or 115,331 miles count, whichever comes first, and we are at 115,748 miles right now.
@benk wish we had that weather! I have just woken up to 18°C, with a high of 27°C, kind of day. I read drizzling and overcast, and hot cocoa, and warm ham and cheese croissant instantly comes to mind for breakfast. :-)
Not a painting. A window with a view.

Somewhere in Schwangau.
@prologic yeah, it is of no use for us. With so many browsers to chose from, I don’t see why we would need to use a browser that was originally specifically made for RISC OS.
@adi you shouldn’t try. You fucking suck at it.
Pinch me, @prologic, I don’t believe my eyes tonight. Either this isn’t @adi, but a cousin, or sibling using his account, or he has converted to Buddhism and is trying to reach enlightenment. 😂
@prologic oh, I see. Well, for that he doesn’t need Fengari at all. I thought the idea was for the static generator to use the Lua solution at the yarn’s root.
@prologic configurable at pod’s level, sure, and perfect. Configurable at user’s level? Please, don’t. 😅
@adi I assume the same way you would use Lua in the browser, using Fengari. The idea is to mix that with HTML, no? There is where mkws comes handy.
@prologic I like it. I believe it was asked for before. If implemented, please no more than one pinned at a time. Otherwise it becomes a pinned fest pretty fast!
@ullarah I think you know now, based on @prologic's screenshot. :-) Just Markdown/HTML, nothing more, nothing else.
@adi yeah, I am sure most of us saw it on HN, and Lobste.rs, and Reddit, and just about any other techie website. Until I see a true practical use of it, it would not dazzle me at all. It is like running Linux in the browser, so what?
@jdtron more than half way through it, and so far, so good! Hoping and wishing you have are having a good one too! Had leftovers from a Chipotle take away, so food comma is about to kick-in in one, two… 💤
We have 24°C today, feels like 24°C, 42% humidity. Oh yeah, Spring is here!

@carsten having another feed/persona for bookmarking isn't too great without a search for it. I need to remind you that entries will drop off the cache also, and you will not see them until a proper search comes to life, or you increase the TTL of your cache.
@thecanine they have the advantage of having started early, yes. Sadly, things often change for the worse. See what happened to Skype.

Apple Music also has that "social networky" that allows you to follow friends, and see/listen to what they are listening, and provide recommendations based on friends taste if so desired. Of course, it works only if friends are on the ecosystem (perfect for me, for example). No tie-ins with Discord, but I don't use, nor care about that platform.

Isn't Spotify changing the speed of songs, to bypass copyright? I remember reading about that a long while ago, but I searched the engines and found nothing on the tubes about it now. Maybe they do not longer do it. Either way, I meh at them, and their service.
@thecanine the just care about their income more than anything else. I have never been on Spotify, and never cared for them. Now even less. I am forever thankful for competition, as it provides customers with a choice.

@carsten I liked that article very much, thank you for sharing. I am going to share it at work for when the next iteration of "let's change server naming conventions" comes. Right now, I hate to admit, we have the stupidest naming scheme ever. At least it wasn't my idea, so that's my consolation.
@carsten I agree. That’s something it is missing in Yarn; more interesting people, more diverse set of interests and topics. I am yet to find an “alternative” social that combines and/or agglutinates more interests. They all seen to centre around the social itself (Mastodon, Pleroma, Yarn, etc), but very little outside of it. That is, a social network that talks mostly about itself.
@lyse pics or didn’t happen! :-) Show us the finished product when ready, please.
@carsten name then as you wish, just the same you will name your children. There is no right, nor wrong, unless you are on a corporate environment, in which having a naming scheme becomes very, very important.

@ullarah sorry if my reply above bursted your happiness, mate, but you kind of know me already. I come in peace! 😂
Well, let's see what Sunday brings. Will go get my weekly coffee with older folks, maybe grab some mochi donuts afterwards. Then I don't know what else. I can't plan that much in advance. 🙈
What buttons are we talking about here? The ones on the user's profile? Or the ones that replaced the icons on the formatting toolbar? For the later (that is not to say I like the huge ones on profile either), I dislike them so much that I have set .toolbar-nav { display: none; } on my custom CSS to hide the formatting bar all together. 🤣
@carsten how are you connecting that SSD to the device? Yes, often small, but many in numbers, files take longer to copy, or move.
Watched "Nobody" (HBO Max), and "Love and Leashes" (Netflix). Now looking for the third one to watch because, you know, third is the charm. Then sleepies. Weekend, come on, what's the rush?!
@novaburst write then, or not. You could bother, or not. It might be enough to make you write anything, or not. There, I made the decision for you, or not. 😂
There is no place like home.

@prologic @carsten was referring to a roadmap for the mobile app.
@carsten awesome, sir, and thank you for your service! :-) So, you are learning Golang? That's neat, and something @prologic will appreciate. One more musketeer is always welcome!
@carsten the opposite happens here all the time. The cup is fine, but the coffee is normally too hot to sip. That often happens because it has been brewed wrong. The optimum temperature to brew coffee is below boiling point (but close), somewhere around 90° to 93°C.
@lyse nice click, mate! Seven is very good as well. I love wind too. I have been on winds you can't stand, you are moved if you do. Even laying low you feel the drag, that strong. I have, though, seeing with own eyes its destructive force. I have seeing a roof of a house come off, almost fully. It can be horrifying.
I am not saying the guy didn't do anything wrong. It seems he committed some sort of fraud. Nevertheless, he didn't get a due process (at all!), nor the punishment he received suits the crime.
Amazingly chilling article about the terror of doing business in Dubai. Imprisoned in Dubai since 2008, Cornelius "bitterly regrets believing that Dubai was a safe place to do business.”
> Dubai is the glitziest of the seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates (uae). It’s a tourist playground of beaches, turquoise seas and imposing glass towers that gleam in the year-round sun. Entrepreneurs are attracted to Dubai, too, seeing it as a pristine, modern, rule-bound entrepot in which to invest. But foreigners doing business in Dubai are often unaware that local politicians and businessmen – elite figures are often both – may use the courts to pursue vendettas, settle scores or raid assets they covet. Even the smallest debt can lead to years in jail.
@lyse ah, poor Babylonians! It is very consoling to know I can get a 100W light bulb being lit for an hour basically free. Most of our bulbs are LEDs, with a max of 65W. It is other appliances the ones killing us. 😩
@carsten yup, that sound is meant to be obnoxious, so you pay attention. You can disable some of those in the US (not all), and most people do. I keep all enabled on my phone.
@carsten that, my friend, is probably the result of having harnessed the wind, and the tides, to generate electricity. Nordic countries are very good at that. Now, in Netherland's case I am not too sure, emphasis mine:
> According to Statistics Netherlands, gross electricity generation was approximately 110 billion kilowatthours (BkWh) in 2015. Fossil fuel-fired power plants produced over 80% of the electricity in the Netherlands, mainly natural gas (42%) and coal (35%). More than 12%** of the Netherland's electricity is generated from renewable sources, mainly biomass and waste (5% of the total) and wind (7%** of the total). The Dutch power system is connected to Belgium and Germany, as well as to Norway and the United Kingdom via high voltage lines that run along the North Sea bed.
With a $235 electric bill received this month, this meme is very fitting.

The Arrival of the Electric Bill
@movq that sounds like the beginning of one of our hurricanes here. We are very used to it, it puts into a gentle sleep. :)
@stigatle and you as well, mate. May your Friday run fast, and your weekend slow down tenth fold!
@ullarah that's pretty neat. I wonder what will come on iOS 16, which is due sometime towards the end of the year. There hasn't been any leaks yet, but I am sure it has been in the works.
@ullarah many points are missed, yes. The fact that Apple engineers the hardware gives them the ability to have a hardware/software "harmony" non existent—that I know of—on any other system. As you mention, product-line integration makes their "ecosystem" an almost perfect one, one in which all Apple produced devices work very well together.

When it comes to desktop—and mobile, but that is not on topic—use, I wouldn't move to any other not even if offered money. It is that simple.
While on pricey apps, and related because it is about editing photographs/images, Darkroom is $50 to unlock "everything forever". Pricey, yes, but an excellent app. They have macOS and iOS/iPadOS versions.
Just about any electronic components supplier is affected by shortages. Recent days contamination on IC manufacturing plants did not help, but further exacerbated the problem. I think we are relying on too few manufacturers. That needs to change but, I know, it all comes down to money.
@carsten there is no roadmap that I know off. Since there is no developer, it makes sense there is none.
@carsten if offers more control on settings you use the most, and the override of settings (like white balance, speed) on the app itself. It is very well done, but not something I would use as a daily driver. In most occasions I just want a quick click. Now for special occasions, and least for me, the app is well worth the money.
@carsten yes, absolutely makes sense! Send it in on an issue, and request it as a feature (if not already there). The problem with Goryon is that we do not have a developer working on it. @prologic has done the best he can to fix things, but he isn't a Flutter developer.
For those not happy with the default camera app, and wishing to gain a little bit more of control, Obscura 3 camera app is a good choice. I have used previous versions and like it; just kept coming back to the default app because I tend to be a purist when it comes to stock applications.
@carsten this is a repository, and issues for Goryon. I think all this findings/suggestions you have been twting about should better be documented or entered on the app repository issues.
@carsten view what with Goryon? Images? I am not understanding this one, could you please elaborate a bit?
@carsten nice, I heard a lot about the "Siemens and Bush" movie. It is like "Bonnie and Clyde", but instead of money, it is clothes. LOL. Enjoy! On a serious note, we set the machines and then go off to the actual TV. The bothersome part—at least for me—is folding, hanging, and stoving away.
@prologic such a lying bastard! This has little to nothing to do with children, and/or placing "the power back in the hands of parents". It is about them politicians, to grant themselves the ability to intimidate, silence and prosecute those speaking against their sleazy behaviours. 😡🤬
@carsten are you using yarnc too? Yarnc is the command line client.
@carsten you know there is bookmarking built-in on Yarn, right? Bottom right of a twt, the little bookmark icon, if you click it, it goes to your bookmarks, which you can see under your settings. A hash tag isn't needed for this.
@carsten I would not, no. I don’t use anything from them, nor see any dazzling innovation coming from them.
@screem you meant, waiting to login, and get into game for a while, then playing. :-D I wish I could play it, but it isn't available on macOS. Maybe some day, one can dream. Everything irie on David's house!
@jlj thank you for letting me know. Maybe you are pushing that Pi too hard? :-) I am still waiting for the ones I reserved; really anxious to play with them, but was told will need to wait till the end of March. Anyway, I am digressing. Hoping Pleroma gets better!
@prologic ah, the way I read it it seemed you meant $450M/each. My bad! 🤦🏻‍♂️😂
@carsten are we chatted on IRC, you will need to allow cloudfront\\.net on the "Allow domains" under pod management. In my pod I allow everything (.*).*
@carsten as we chatted on IRC, you will need to allow cloudfront\\.net on the "Allow domains" under pod management. In my pod I allow everything (.*).*
@prologic it is $450,000, not $450M. Still a seizable amount of money, but not on the same order of magnitude. Also, we can do both: worry about our own planet and resources, and people, and look to the stars. We wouldn't be anywhere if we didn't do many things at once. :-)
@prologic hmm, I don't understand your twt asking "Anyone have any other details on this story from AWS with their EFS and sub-millisecond latencies? Apparently the story posted on /. was a dupe, but I can’t find the original one" then. The "story" was simply the blog post I linked you on IRC, nothing else. It was posted twice on Slashdot. This one, and this one.
@lyse very nice shot! I had to look up snowdrops, as I was not familiar with the plant. They look lovely, do they have a nice fragrance? For this picture I would have removed the leave at the top left, and the one in the middle, in between them. I know purists will say that's editing, and tampering with the order of nature. I'd reply that's artistic freedom. :-) As I said, lovely nevertheless.
What an amazing read! Some more here and here. A few movies could come out of this, easily. Books too. It relates to BitCoin, the alleged death of crytocurrency exchange founder, missing money, intrigue, and more.
If you have an iPhone 6/6 Plus, you now own a vintage item. Preserve it in good state, and you might have some money say, 50-60 years from now? Or pass it to your kids, for increased value!
@carsten it is an upsetting case, and one it could be easier to solve should Kamila be simply disqualified—which, based on findings, she should. But as she is not yet, and is being allowed to compete, and the final ruling on her doping case will drag for weeks, you don't want her winning gold medal now, to later be known someone else is actually the gold winner, and having to swap medals, etc. She is the favourite to win, by the way.

With all facts found, she should be disqualified. End of story.
I find it interesting that there hasn't been a dispute between Apple and Alphabet when it comes the use of the word Messages. Apple Messages (named Messages) saw light in 2007, while Google Messages (also named Messages) saw light in 2014. They both have similar function, but are exclusive to the OS they run on. I think that is the reason Google Messages might never show on the App Store (though it would give Alphabet the upper hand if it were to be).

I understand there is Apple Maps and Google Maps too, which is also puzzling. On this one Google was first.
@mckinley I get it; the "big, fake media" is the bad one (with the exception of Fox and OAN, and any other alike), and outfits like Joe have genuine conversations.
@carsten so, no more mkws, or still using it? I mean, for what you have, which it can be done by hand within one minute or two, I don't think you need a generator of any kind at this stage.
@movq very nice, thanks for the details (bookmarked now, because you know, my memory ain't what it used to be, LOL). About buying a DSLR again you will not have to worry much, they are on their way out. Mirrorless are their replacement.
@prologic we are not talking about "big business" or "corporate propaganda", unless you consider Joe that. Joe has misinformed. Joe has hosted people who seek to misinform, and spread misinformation and lies. Joe has engaged in "propaganda and lies". He has encouraged it, either because he truly aligns to them, or for profit; either way the end result is damaging and bad. Boycotts have existed since I have memory; some have worked, some haven't. The tubes has simply made it easier to boycott someone/something.

The problem goes beyond Joe, and COVID. There are people doing harm, and trying to do harm, each day (including politics, environment, finances, religions, you name it!). Their message of hate, and harm gets amplified by the internet, and gullible people eats it. Weak minded believes it. Each of us gets to decide. Each of us bears the responsibility.
