primarynodedeath sounds like a good domain and relevant
@novaburst this is a side-query. where do these instances find all of these interesting domain names?
@justamoment this is dystopia supreme. reminds me of the movie in time
@prologic curious if you think all oligarchs are assholes?
@prologic wasn't joking. sleep helps the brain work better. unless you know a secret i do not
@prologic

have a lot to unpack here, philosophically as it were. perhaps a phlog/blog post is in order.
@prologic @screem cut a pr to address this.
@darch keep in mind swarm behaves slightly different from compose/plain-ole-docker. also the stack file you're downloading from @prologic is setup for his network and traffic configuration (cloudflare) so there may need to be some tweaks as everyone's setup is different.
@novaburst

not the only thing he would go mad on. one time i made the mistake of using the acronyms oss and foss in the same sentence and received a thorough .5 page rant.
@novaburst my door is open if you need a hand or some gear.
@novaburst

i'm personally quite fond of a hydra-model. where traffic ingress/egress at a single point, yet behind the scenes there are one || many machines serving purposes. meanwhile to the casual observer it appears like a vps on the interwebz
@novaburst i've been experimenting with darknets for several years now. there's quite a few ways to nat punch || hop without dns trickery. should you ever wish to discuss it, do let me know.
@prologic i'm awaiting the t-rex at any moment. :popcorn
if it feels too complicated, it likely is.
@novaburst glad to see this up and added. and the fact you use the terminology darknet properly is inspiring.
seems the pod call went on with @screem working out the pwa css problems. i think we should push this as a branch today.
@prologic perhaps we should make sure you get some sleep? :-)
@carsten that works for me. feel free to reach out directly
@carsten what is this you speak of, pdf?
@novaburst if i could live a life where pictures were ascii, i might achieve happiness. the python script works well but needs a bit of cleanup.

https://github.com/dialup-inc/ascii <--- this i think needs some attention speaking of ascii-related matters
@prologic we'll make some time this weekend. sent you link over signal
@novaburst

> I personally convert them to ASCII art and paste as preformatted text, hah

teach me :-)
when your satisfying hobby becomes somebody else's work in trade for a paycheck, do you find a new hobby?
@novaburst i'm all smiles today.
welcome @markraini
@prologic did you sort out your network? if not we could try the author's instance since you have allergy to jitsi.
@prologic had no idea this worked. hat-tip

@retronav i had tried obsidian for a bit but ended up with joplin until i finish my text-file organisation system.
i believe i've worked with mushrooms before in a professional setting.
@prologic how do you use organise with hedgedoc?
@prologic several reasons

- i don't like plex's interface
- i don't like plex privacy policy
- i've used jellyfin since 2019, lot's of time invested
- i'm not interested in paying money to share media with others, i give someone a key to my mesh or credentials to my auth gateway. 0$
- i control my data
@retronav i hold the belief that text is future-proof. we started with gopher and now we have gemini to keep it company.

i find reading things without the distractions is much more efficient. no browser needed unless you care to use a proxy in browser (sometimes necessary away from keyboard)
@tkanos it's usually posted towards the end of the week.
@tel tiktok has immense value in sheep-herding, psychological operations, and keeping the audience asleep.
@tel i have jellyfin deployed in my cluster and am quite happy with it. transcoding == :chefs_kiss
@prologic

- i don't think it's a matter of tolerance, but a matter of not enough resources to tip the scale
- he with the most toys wins
- they have more currency than we do
- d.) all of the above

i'm tired of trying to rock the system. instead building my own. the internet is merely transit layer for my world.
@ullarah @prologic will have to sync on a convenient time for all.
@prologic good plan. getting it rock-solid is primary imho. then start adding features.
@tkanos @prologic i'm also interested in helping. i don't live here 24/7.
@screem

will reach out to assist you with setup.
@prologic

planting seeds yields fruit.
@novaburst

noted in text file.
@novaburst zuckerberg is likely busy experimenting with bbq sausage and ai that speaks a hybrid of esperanto and pig-latin
@novaburst spreading smiles pixel by pixel hat-tip
yes, i'm aware my gimp skills are atrocious.
@xuu that's one way to drop a mic.
@lyse i haven't lived there for many years, but when i did the only ones who would speak english with me were younger people, as a result i learned as they say trial by fire. and a lot of laughter from the residents :-)

is it common now for germans to speak english?
@novaburst amazing :-)
@screem

here is the issue i opened to demonstrate behaviour
@adi i tried void for a while but was not enthusiastic at the time.
@xuu @prologic

i remember this when i first tried the pwa it was joyful. thanks to both of you chaps for dealing with the msgbus and other issues.
hard to do if you don't have a television nor are you willing to pay for a subscription
@xuu dresden
@astrid .dd bit me quite hard in the day.
@screem i think the pwa in salty.im could use your help :-)
@novaburst ++1 i had used alpine for containers, but recently partitioned my laptop for alpine and am quite pleased with it. i'm experimenting with nixos off/on for a year but i keep coming back to alpine. relays are on hardenedbsd which works quite nicely.

ubuntu wouldn't be as bad if you didn't have to gut the thing with a dull knife to get proper packaging going. as well, there's the matter of systemd which we've both drilled on recently.
- self: i'm using nixos
- redacted: ubuntu is best practise for servers
- self: according to whom?
- redacted: cis and r/netsec
- self: great, now i need to change
- redacted: don't worry i can help you get setup like the rest of us
- self: that's precisely what i'm looking to avoid
- redacted: did you mean void linux?
self: did you know mouthwash makes you drunk?

@astrid

after reading this i don't feel alone anymore.
@thecanine i like this. do you experiment with animated pixel art?

i tried to learn but am not very artistic.
@slashdot

dev: hey team i want to demo this new feature!
team: that's great, johnny!

johnny goes to work for sendgrid today.

love how it's malicious hackers as opposed to criminals
@tkanos following this yarn.

this is inspiring thought. remind me to share my thoughts on signal(input <===> output) processing soon.

but first my site needs to manifest.===
@novaburst

and are you interested in help? i would like to work on a system project as it's core interest.
@novaburst bookmarked
@tkanos i just realised. when i had li, we were connected. the internet is indeed a smol world.
@tkanos indeed. latin is one of handful of root languages that waters the downstream flowers of linguistics.

it's quite troubling when authorities try to flex by googling smart-sounding latin quotes and interject them into a modern english conversation. what's even more troubling for them is when i start speaking conversational latin in response.

at least my education is not totally akin to lighting money on fire. :-)
those latin quotes that you think make you look smart, ja?

it's not working...
@darch yes sir.
@tel it can work over a public gopherproxy.
@prologic it's a nice vision which i share in many respects. but getting there is the journey. perhaps before we get planted in the ground, ja?
@novaburst i don't recall giving them my information. :‑X
@usr

you operate out of necessity. zero issues with this. i would do the same.
@prologic you're not too far off, but missing the deeper backstory. if you are keen on a research hole, look into the work of timothy may. you'll understand a bit more about my interests by proxy.
@prologic

this is what i could consider sound parenting.
@movq you should think kev would be from an era where nntp was still relevant.

this old-timer appreciates forums and nntp. i will not miss reddit.
@novaburst funny part is reich == nation state deutschland and then there's windows ironic.
@prologic maybe keep issue open and ask for community help. you're stretching yourself thin.
@darch there's a button i believe in settings -> poderator settings where you can fire off feed updates.

i may create a pull request that allows operator to paramterise these workers.
@prologic @yarn_pwa good deal. hopefully i don't watch replay of messages i sent yesterday :-)
@prologic it's based but i respect that and am based on some of my own choices. i believe @novaburst and i suggested mumble. it's in c++ so you can shift from java to bjarne memes :-)

i'm personally not exactly pleased with google consuming our private chats into transcripts as i demonstrated to you. but i respect your haus.
@novaburst @prologic

i think the interpretation is subjective. for myself the web died long ago. i just read text to obtain the information i am seeking. really sifts out the cruft.

many netizens equate the internet to the web which is a fundamental inaccuracy.

i hope one day people will start moving to more sustainable technology that's been here all along :-)
@mckinley i did the same.

cc: @prologic @ullarah maybe there's an opportunity for a ui/ux pivot here?
@justamoment if you clone the repo you can build the latest docker image if that helps?
@crunched

the world is full of doors that appear to be locked. looks can be deceiving.
the modern day blockchain is very power inefficient. to balance the scale, the same could be said for the plethora of computer operators running datacentres in their home hoovering power.

turn the clock back to the genesis block. cryptocurrency had a purpose. autonomy of transaction and being able to exchange without being plugged into the system. those were indeed the origins. now it's turned into a poorly-constructed meme chock-full of people who've literally gone mad.

just like the paper counterpart. money isn't real.
@darch really glad you got to a good point. you did most the work :-)

i'm dropping my pod soon as well so if you'd like to collaborate on some setup and host-hardening you know how to reach me.
@novaburst

jfc on rubber crutches. this is real. first it ran on a pregnancy test, now it's on grafana?

dead
@novaburst

same situation. setup a tunnelbroker which works, but one more thing to maintain
@novaburst

indeed :-)

but reminded me to ask you about ipv6
@crunched

great yarn!

list:

- writing
- research
- chess
- urbex
- archivism
@prologic need to get this fixed up. your i/o delay is akin to a line at the apple store circa 2007
@prologic

i am apparently on the wrong planet
@novaburst related, are you on native ipv6 or do you have a tunnel broker?

just set up the latter.
@slashdot

.us utilised remote viewers for target acquisition

.de utilised magick for warfare

.cn utilised harmonics for asymmetrical offence

what happened to the days of older where things were settled with fists or a blackjack at most?
@novaburst

unpacked well. the last time i jumped on an instance i felt moderate cardiac discomfort.

thus cancer is an appropriate label.
@Rob

or a stream of atomics that read fix or syntax

even if changeset is minimal i prefer summarising. if nothing else it's courteous and a sign of craftsmanship
@prologic

i remain mute on this matter
@mckinley @prologic

mumble has always been a favourite. i've ran a system for years. very latency tolerant and works over tor to boot.
riddle me this: when is a work day 22.5 hours?
@novaburst spot-on, as always. proxmox 7.x.x uses the abomination to manage swap. proxmox isn't in a happyspace with swap.

i think this will help stabilise @prologic infra.
