@prologic ask Santa! If he doesn't bring us one, I heard he is pretty good himself! We will need to pay him with cookies and milk, though... 😂
@thecanine
> Speaking of garbage, this is the third time I’m writing this reply, it keeps logging me out when I try sending it, if it happens again, I’ll stab someone. 🔪

Run, @prologic, run! You have a murderous canine after you! 😜
Competition is good, @thecanine. SMS/MMS is still very compatible for both (Google and Apple), and it will eventually get better when RCS becomes mainstream. I don't sweat over encryption (though the encryption and privacy provided by Apple works well for me) and what nots, I leave that to you, seemingly stressed with backdoors.

I am sure you have carefully analysed all of the Signal code (client and server), and keep a close tab on their servers, as to rest assured nothing "backdoory" is happening, right? 😉😂
@xandkar I see on this list linked, in downloaded-and-parsed.txt:

fastidious https://twtxt.net/user/fastidious/twtxt.txt

That one is gone long ago. The feed itself is 404. Should I question the verification process?
@thecanine dear lord! Is a good thing you are not in charge of anything. You just described hell. 🤣
I will stick to using the good old SMS/MMS when interacting with non-iOS users, and Messages when interacting with iOS users. It works fine. It is instant with other iOS users, and it is carrier delayed for non.

In an ideal world, all my family and friends would be on iOS---which almost is, with the exception of two of my jerks brothers, and their wives---but we don't live in one. 😩
@jlj yes, in the States is completely out of control. People forgot, or simply don’t know, the original reason for tipping. That is not so in many other countries; only if they don’t know you are American. If they do, a tip, all of the sudden, becomes an expectation 😳.
@prologic for the girls, the Advent of Christmas is a new, different thing , each day? Could you explain a little bit more what it encompasses? The Advent of Code site is unusable while on mobile, but will check it out later on desktop.
That's weird. Maybe it has to do with network latency? I have been running the pod peering code for over one day already, and everything shows just fine and dandy. No twins, no ghosts, just A-OK.
The tipping concept, action, habit, in the States is endemic and it must be abolished as is. If offering an extra remuneration---either small, or big---for services well rendered is to have a true meaning, one most not do it as an obligation, nor should it ever be added to a tab as a default.

Employees must get paid *without* having to count on tips as a source of income. It is not. It is a reward.
@lyse Santa came early this year! Now, based on the replies, it seems what I wrote was misunderstood. I was so happy to have made it to Santa’s “good” list! Now I am afraid I might be on the naughty one. 😜🤣
@prologic the set of “rules” I wrote are my very own, and personal ones. I wrote “I”, not we. That is, consider what I wrote the result of my often pedantic personal behaviour, and not something that I, even remotely, want someone—or anyone—to subscribe to.

Oh, how often written communication is a double edged sword! 😅
As I said to @lyse today on IRC, I shall not:

1. Edit a twt.
2. Delete a twt.

I am further challenging myself to:

1. Twt with substance or, at least, with certain verbosity. That is, no one liners.
2. Reply twts in kind, following what’s stated on 1.
3. Use emoji sparingly, only when their use would help clarify or convey the message stated.
@prologic I am not sure. Right now I can subscribe to any feed without having to find it on a shady list. I really find absolutely no use for it.

Now, granted, I can edit the template and get rid of it, but experience tells me it is a hard and laborious task to keep changes on templates fresh, with the many changes in code still happening. Hence my proposal to make the showing of the external feed configurable via a setting.
@prologic 5.56 is ammo, NATO standard. I think that is what @anth is talking about.
@prologic yup, that mess is what I am talking about. I don’t want it. I think very few people do.
@prologic I don’t think you are following what I am trying to say. On https://arrakis.netbros.com/feeds, see that mess towards the end of the page? I want to rid of that.
@prologic as a pod’s owner, I get a setting showing the current external feed mess, and I get to pick which will show under external feeds for my pod’s users. That’s what I meant.

I am more interested in disabling them, though, as it is the easier thing to do, as you wrote.
@prologic the issue is to fully disable external feeds (pod wide setting), and to provide a way to selectively pick external feeds. Right now we have no seemingly choice.
Bringing an issue I just created here for exposure, at the very least: Ability to disable/select external feeds.
@movq what I am most puzzled about is, what does *btrfs* has to do with bass?
@darch oh, I see. The Zoom link was provided, but I completely missed it. It is on 3 December 2021 from 10:00-11:30 UTC+01 (06:00 my time).
@darch pretty neat! Is the workshop going to be videoed? If so, please follow up later with a link, so we can take a look!
@lyse woohoo! I can almost smell Santa, that old bastard! 😂
Bye bye Jack! These days CEOs mix too much personal stuff with company's. This has happened to Jack, and it happens to Elon.
@ionores "I don't know Jack)™" 😂
@lyse absolutely lovely. Looking at snowy trees and rooftops is so calming!
@ullarah "My pod is showing up twice?" Only showing once for me, so far, but let's give it some time. LOL.
Running it as well. Let's see how it goes.
@prologic the reason I pointed it out was, “Discovered pods peering with twtxt.net” and then seeing twtxt.net peering with twtxt.net. 🤯😂
@prologic comprendere. 🤌🏻
@prologic wouldn’t twtxt not been listed? The home pod itself is implied, no?
The way I see it is, he misses being young.
@prologic I always found the most difficult part was overcoming that serve. It is not piece of cake after that—when playing against a skilful player—but, in certain ways, it is. 😅
@ullarah woot!
@prologic morning mate! Good to know there is still a world for us all tomorrow. I am still in your past. 😝
See this commit, @ullarah
I forgot to tag you on this yarn, @ullarah. 😅
You also used a slightly older template to modify, as @prologic had changed the anonymous profile not to show non-sensical information. The screenshot above is me browsing anonymously in your site. The “does not follows you”, the follow icon, and the block/report do not make sense for anonymous users.
The “Recent…” header font is too big:

Screenshot
@ullarah how difficult of you think it would be to widen the mobile interface just a tad? The margin around the card (twt) is quite big on my phone, and I think it would provide more real estate, and look better, if the margin were to be a little bit thinner. What say you?
@xandkar seeing feeds that no longer exist. I used to be https://twtxt.net/user/fastidious/twtxt.txt, deleted the account over two weeks ago. That URL renders a 404.
@thecanine alrighty, have fun! 🐩😊
This is as good as anyone setting up their own DNS, and using whatever they want 😂. It is rather worthless.

I do something similar with WireGuard (.wg TLD) for all my WireGuard connected hosts.
@prologic in the States we use a blue reflector on the road (same as those used to divide lanes, but instead of yellow they are blue) to signify a fire hydrant. So, you see the blue reflector, and look at the side, and you will see a fire hydrant.
@prologic auto blur, or pixelate? I don’t know if any tool that will automatically do it. There are plenty of editors which will allow you to do it manually. Pixelmator comes to mind, but there are plenty more.

As I have no use for it, I don’t know which will send data to a server or not.
@prologic death cap comes to mind.
@prologic yes, and no. Yes, it is recommended you eat a bit, and wait. The caveat is, there are some mushrooms for which you only need to eat a bit to depart from this world. 😬
@prologic I haven’t been home—coming back home day after tomorrow (my Monday)—to try/play with this. I will ping you.
@lyse lovely skies! I would have picked 2 to premiere. 😊
@prologic not even a mild cold. Been lucky on that front, I guess. Not even with kids growing up—and I was the one they picked/wanted when with cold/flu to carry them around.
@ullarah isn’t it smaller already?
@ullarah maybe have it with elipsis after certain length while on mobile.
See how yours look on my pod now:

@ullarah right, but the icon isn’t needed, as the full nick is telling whether user is local or not.
Just make it wrap to the next line, like it is on current.
I see it on your pod, not on mine running latest from master.
While uploading media, the little spinner that used to replace the camera during the upload process is gone. Just noticed that.
Notice my nick chopped off, and @movq ‘s too closed to edge.
@ullarah two:

@ullarah I rather see the full username (with @ in it), as it also denotes whether the user is in own pod or not.
Dropped a comment on the PR. Nicks are now too close to the edge of the card, some (like mine) getting chopped off. You are getting there! 🙂
@prologic got to treat that lawn! 😊 What kind of grass is that? In here we use St. Augustine and Bahia grass mostly, for lawns. Drought resistant.
@meff happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🥘🍂
😂😂😂 I know I might sound philosophical, but we own nothing. We borrow things for a, rather short, period of time.

I know many people prefer local, offline access to music and videos; and that some prefer to buy both on physical media. As the complete opposite, I rather use the clouds for that. If they are not available due to any reason, I go and smell the flowers 😊.
@ullarah on this template, I would remove the “Recent twt from …”. I think it is redundant. For external profile nicks it will wrap and by too big too.

@ullarah yes, I know. I tried setting the labels a tad smaller and failed. I think they would look a better if the font was a notch smaller. On previous theme I had those level (twt options, desktop) at an 85%.
@ullarah it is very nice, yes. I would still prefer the icons thinner, and the labels a tad smaller. Hopefully that’s something doable.
@prologic you are such a boomer! 😂😂😂 Slashdot and Freshmeat were *the* sites in the late 1990s. Hacker News and others of the like replaced them.
@movq wow, he makes it look so easy—not! It is masterful. Of course, I can’t even doodle on an old casserole. 😂
@lyse I used to have a few thousand of songs, some “acquired” on the nets, some carefully ripped from CDs. Not anymore. All the music I hear now comes from Apple Music. Anything I want, or like—and then some—is there.
Sorry to hear that mate. Hoping you fully recover soon! I have forgotten what it feels like having a cold, or flu. Haven’t had one for over twenty years! 🤞🏻
@movq “The economy is tanking!” — people shrugs. “COVID cases are up!” — people shrugs. “Leaving EU was a huge mistake!” — people shrugs.

“We are running out of alcohol!” — Mayhem ensues. 😂😂😂
@lyse woot! Good stuff!
@jlj, looks like a painting!
@lyse yes, diameter. Regular roses get almost twice the size. This one will not grow more than that. It is not quite a dwarf one, but close. 😊
@lyse “but nothing too major. Just as usual I’d say” hahahaha! Too funny! 😜
@lyse if you are lacking of newts, let me know. We have tons in Florida, and can send you some. 😂
@lyse thank you! It is small, around 4.5-5cm. It is also not on its prime; I meant to take a pic of it a couple of days ago, but was kept busy and forgot.
Tiny rose at mum’s.

Tiny rose
Sorry to hear that, both! Hoping you get the needed rest, @movq, and that your daughter gets well, @jlj! It is going to be a busy day here, Thanksgivings and all.
Frasier on being sacked: “Every exit is an entrance somewhere else.” 😂
@kt84 oh?! Would you have a link to the news source about the writer charging guests? I am not familiar with it, I am in the US.
The suspense is killing me, @prologic! 😂 What is the meaning of this English, plain text, cryptogram?
@prologic does it means that people are talking about their problems to the optometrist, or that they are complaining about the optometrist cover charge? I don’t get it… much. 🙈
@prologic this is easy to test. I will pull one original, host it, and link it on a twt. Then we will compare it to the uploaded version. Granted, it will be a visual comparison only.
@lyse and @movq, you will notice a few broken yarns. Yes, @prologic knows about it. Yes, a mix of editing, and replying to the original, then to the edited one kinda scenario. 😂
@prologic so I checked. It seems we are already using the best resampling method. So... hmm, yeah. Other than resizing the images less---say, instead of 850px, resize to 1000px, if bigger than 1000px---I don't see any other way to get better results.
@prologic I will run a small research to see what's would the best resampling be. I will be looking something of a compromise, whilst trying to achieve better quality.
@prologic I am not sure, or I don’t know. I figure it is the process that shrinks them to 850px that’s affecting their quality.
@prologic yes, it is a hanging moss. Very, very rarely kills the tree. They coexist.
Oh, and I am a sucker for milk! 🙈
@lyse looks yummy!

Try this one day. Fresh bread slices (like those there), toast them slightly. A thin layer of butter on both, then baby Swiss cheese and slices of your preferred ham, then add some blueberry preserves (not jam, but preserves with chunks of the fruit in it, light on added sugars, or none). Eat as a sandwich. 🤤
I need to explain that the garlic and spices are mixed with the olive oil. Bite size bread pieces are dipped in it. Delicious!
As @lyse mentions, *pass* runs on the shell, and uses *GnuPG*. Running it on a secured VM could do the trick!
@will there are many password managers out there that will run multi platform, with datafile(s) saved on your own chosen location. Sadly, I have no experience with those.
@prologic it is just a statement from me 😆. I love olive oil, we use it for all cooking needs. I especially like a fresh baked baguette with finely chopped garlic in flavourful and aromatic olive oil, with extra spices in it (marjoram, parsley, oregano, basil, rosemary, sage, and the like). Simply amazing.
@will I am not a genius 😂, but I use a password manager (1Password). I will move them all next year to Keychain. As you can tell, I exclusively use macOS/iOS. But 1Password runs on macOS/iOS, Windows, and Android.

The four OS you use, are they all personal? My work provides us with Secret Server for everything related to it.
@lyse really nice—but that’s a given for almost any pic you take! Are those flowers that small, or are those ants really big? Either way, I like it very much. Second fave, 19.
