@prologic would you call disallowing access to Facebook, or Snapchat, to your children censorship? Would you call not aligning yourself to Neonazis censorship? Wouldn't you agree that stopping people spreading misinformation—misinformation with the potential to kill many, or cause harm—is worth "censoring"? There are things to which you simply put a stop. Some people and/or their ideas are not up for debate. Do you think any amount of debate will make your old man stop believing on his religion?
@prologic because I really can't bare to listen, and I understand he is a comedian, is he truly defending Joe, or sarcastically pretending to do it, or what? Again, I can't handle this type of comedy, but I am curious about you linking it.
@prologic 🥳😊, and yes, Little Snitch runs fine on Apple Silicon hardware, no need for Rosetta 2. Back to the ContentFilterExclusionList, more from Objective Development, the makers of Little Snitch, amongst others.
@prologic @carsten, you guys are living in the past. First, Big Sur was superseded by Monterrey, and second, that "surveillance" was removed a little over a year ago.
@movq that is an spectacular photo, mate! Certainly a keeper. What’s your rig? Always curious to know about what others are using on a daily bases, because I mostly use my phone.
@lyse nice click! Though the pictures are nice, on this twt is the rest of the story what gives the punch. It sounds like that road would be a cop’s paradise. If it were here, a cop would be staking it at least once a week, and writing all the monthly citations on that one sweet spot. 😂

A 20km hike is awesome exercise! Which reminds me that I need it get back to running. 😬
@carsten Little Snitch is more than just a firewall, and does more than pfSense. Have a read here and there.
@carsten it varies in the States. Where I live, in neighbourhoods it is 40km/hour. Inner city roads is 70km/hour and highways is 113km/hour. In all places, a posted speed sign overwrites.

Almost everyone violates. Not me, unless my abiding the law causes traffic issues, or could cause accidents. Then I violate the law as well.
@xuu, "the longest running Wordle player in the world". 1000 years from now paintings will be found in a remote cave representing square blocks with shades, fully filled, and empty. All signed with a cryptic "xuu". 😆
@prologic I use zero websites using IndieAuth; other that having a Yarn pub becoming an IDP, is there something else to this? Just looking to know what advantages it brings, and how I could make use of them.
@prologic again, it is only worth it—and the right thing to do—if you are not the only user. If someone else uses the machines at home, then yes, a family share is the only way viable for you. It is not about ownership, it is about single user versus multi.
@prologic yes, I did. Keep in mind that with a single user license you can install on every machine you yourself use. Originally I had a single user license and used it in my personal machine, as well as on work’s.
@carsten good night, mate, and happy Sunday! One more day, and then back to the hammer. 😂
@prologic what makes a repo worthwhile? Even the least seemingly important, or interesting, might have some use, sometime, somewhere.

If the history of mankind relied on self hosting, we would have no history. Or a very incomplete one.
@prologic the Australian government has all your information, right? Every possible PII of you they have. They have your fingerprints, and other minutiae. Doctors have much information too. Banks and credit cards companies have your purchasing history, and financial power. Credit bureaus—I asume Australia has those too—have a trove on information about you as well. And so on and so forth.

Considering that all those are, allegedly, worse than Apple at keeping your information secure, and private, what’s the problem with iCloud?
TIL that every Mexican citizen can obtain a private and public key which they can use to handle all government bureaucratic affairs (such as taxes, passport, university diplomas, etc.), without the need of lengthy waits, nor paper communications via postal mail.

That, on its own, is 100 years ahead of the way we do things in the US.
“It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.” — Audre Lorde
@movq I would be curious to know how many people visit that gopher page. I sure can’t! Why not HTTP?
“It doesn’t open” — said partner, while unsuccessfully trying to open a meatball container. “If Aladdin would have said the same thing at the cave’s mouth, he wouldn’t have found riches, nor the magical lamp, nor we had had an amazing story to listen” — I replied, opening the container whilst saying out loud “Open sesame!”
@movq I meant odds are one own self hosting will not last as long as GitHub. Many factors might influence the impermanence of self-hosting. Now, as with everything, there might be exceptions (you may consider yourself one, for example).
@movq I couldn’t handle that much bullshit, so after the second tweet on the thread I gave up. Nope, will pass on whatever he is taking. I will rather have a smoothie. 😂
@ullarah show me that meme generator, please. I have a few things I would love to put on that book cover! 😂
@carsten that’s a nice, good morning to wake up to! Clear skies, crispy cold… so nice. I woke up 30 minutes ago, it is a bit past eight now. Today is warm, at 16°C, and I ashamed of having overslept.

I wonder, do those vehicles have to make it out through that narrow passage? I can imagine the problem when everyone wants out at rush time.
@anth Google Voice will work fine. T-Mobile has a service called DIGITS that gives you a number you can set to do that too. But for free, Google Voice would work perfectly.
@prologic I use Micro Snitch to be warned on things like this. Unfortunately I can’t pick not to use Zoom as it is required for work.
2022 and we are still invading others, and waging wars. We are a failed experiment that has lasted—using our own measure of time—way too long.
A message from a Syrian girl: “Flowers will bloom.” That is a message of hope from someone currently in living hell.
@carsten I am sure your own Gitea install will not last as long as GitHub. Same applies to having your repositories on envs.net. But that aside. Is Mike centring all his complains on GitHub JS usage? Pfff! Dear lord. 😒
@carsten that amount gets you a “fancy” Starbucks coffee here, so I think €7.50 is a fair price. Inflation is eating us alive here, sadly.
@lyse quite a few gems you got on that trek! I am on mobile now, but 25, and 26 stood out, and well as the one at dusk. It is hard to believe it was cold and snowy, as pretty much all the clicks gave me the feeling of warm, and peacefulness.

You know, even if I wanted I wouldn’t be able to show you nice places like those from here. To see something near to what you see I would have to jump in the car, and drive far. While it is true the saying “grass is always greener on the other side”, I wish I had the scenery you have, that’s for sure!
@carsten yes, Apple’s long term support was a selling point to two of family member Android hold outs. That, and the lack of bloatware.
@prologic it was scrumptious. The slightly softness of the cookie was enhanced by the crunchiness of the freckles, and the sweetness, and tastefulness of the fruit jam. I am sure it was heavenly to eat, especially after the savoury sandwich. 😊
@carsten having been to Amsterdam I had to try a couple of the many, many Indonesian restaurants in town—it has to do with the Dutch atrocious colonial rule in Indonesia. The food was, in both cases, delicious! Plenty of little dishes, and they kept coming, on demand. Hope you enjoyed it!
Meh. I will soon be using exclusively ARM processors. Let Intel get into this—potential—mess. It might end up being a good feature for those still on their platform, who knows.
Oh, now your twt has the context. It took a little to pop. Reading.
@prologic what is this about? Could you provide some context? Can’t tell from anything on your twt.
@ullarah very nice day, so colourful and bright! Is that a flamboyant tree? I also like your picnic blanket design a lot. 😍 So, what was in the basket? 🤤🙈
@lyse LOL, thank you for sharing, it was awesome! I am slowly getting more and more into YouTube (subscribed to a small few), so that my children don't call me boomer. I don't really have much time, or rather patience, to sit on long videos, but this one is short enough to enjoy in one seating.
Very nice! Love the colours, and the shades and lighting on the clouds and sky. It looks like a sunrise. A crispy, clean one.
@carsten I think @adi will be tickled to read this. Maybe he will even use this twt as "what others are saying" testimonial!
@lyse he was pretty upset (furious even!), because his favourite hat was stolen, and he had to resort to this one—which was a Christmas present from his great aunt—for this shot. The photographer had to pull one or two spines off her arm, after the photo session ended. That ought to tell you he wasn't in a good mood at all.

@carsten yes, and that is fine, it is working as intended. The problem isn't on the web browser.
@prologic no, he didn't, I don't think so. He is using a browser on desktop, or a big mobile (tablet), not the app. The mobile app (not to be confused with mobile web browser) is the one with the issue.
@movq having a laptop, and/or mobile device is my definition of minimalism. 😅 They both fit in a backpack. But yes, this will not help the already negatively impacted electronics industry.
@carsten is it German? Or is it the English translation of a German word? What does it mean, other than, perhaps, to refer to something that is "relevant to a system"?
Howdy, @ynac! Let me know how can I make the Yarn.social experience a better one for you. And, if you have any other questions, feel free to ping me!
Here comes solid state storage shortages!
> Western Digital Corp said on Wednesday certain materials at two of its manufacturing units in Japan, operated by joint-venture partner Kioxia Holdings Corp, were contaminated and will result in reduced availability of flash storage devices.
I find myself each time closer to what it is, and further of what it should be.
Once a month she will turn into a different person) for a week. He, on the other hand, can't remember faces.
The Beauty Inside
Will watch the final episode tonight, and then I will have to hunt something to watch next.
@prologic I will take rock money any day, versus NFTs. With rock money, I can see it, touch it, and pay (with rock money itself!) to get it moved to wherever I want. 😂
@prologic I will take rock money any day, versus NFTs. With rock money, I can see it, touch it, and pay (with rock money itself!) to get it moved to wherever I want. 😂 More about the Island of Rock Money.
@carsten no, no, you are not causing any confusion. It is @prologic, or his mobile app, the one getting confused. The mobile app is broken. I recommend using mobile web for now, as it works perfectly.
@prologic you still addressed the wrong one here. 😅 It is rather chaotic.
@prologic he worries about being able to use ! at the end of URLs freely. Such worry is so intense, he can’t sleep. 🙈😂😂😂

Sorry! I promise, not touching the subject again, ever! I am not here, sleeping, sleeping.
@adi how about "but they're *very* very rare"? Better, no?
@adi the yelling stage has kicked in! In all seriousness, reading VERY VERY RARE! hurt my ears so badly, I think I am going to need some drops to sleep tonight. 😩
@prologic no, I just took it from the tubes, because I heard @adi likes them. I am just trying to please, and be nice, that's all! I got no garden! (oh, I am truly liking ending sentences with ! now!)
@adi ah, look the pot calling the kettle black! 🤣 Of course I end sentences with URLs, and exclamation points! Like this https://netbros.com/twt/kbhtrwq!
@adi that renders a "Bad Request". Maybe you meant it without the exclamation point? Hard to say, but I guess now we will never know! 😭
🎶 Memories:
> So needless to say
> I'm odds and ends
> But I'll be stumbling away
> Slowly learning that life is okay
> Say after me
> It's no better to be safe than sorry

Yup.
@adi yup! Though, for those, I simply prefer to use the hash tag, #4cgtvoa, unless I am trying to make a very specific point. The hash tags are very small, and takes you to the point easily.
@adi I heard you like hedgehogs—and exclamation points!—so here is one for your enjoyment! Let me know if you want more!
Gandalf the hedgehog for Adi
@adi I always do. I prefer things neat, and sensical. As you can see, I also enjoy using two to three sentences minimum, and the Oxford comma. Oh, and I like to have fun because, you know, not only girls just like to have fun! 🤪
@adi that hedgehog is really cool.
@<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt> pretty cool! The pastie I am using (Pasty) does it too (gone within 24 hours).
@prologic if only people weren't lazy, and linked things to neat way. But not, it is so amazingly difficult!
@prologic it is not meant to be funny. It is just that you don’t see a doctor’s note like that every day. If you read the page I linked you will know why it was needed.

It is like getting a doctor’s note stating you are allowed to work completely drunk. Something you don’t normally expect to come from a doctor. 😅
@prologic yeah, that I don’t know. Adi will say “preferences”, for sure. I hope he isn’t too hopeful about those two “themes”. 🤣
@prologic and it is true.
@prologic the very same. Mind it, I am not 100% sure the note is veridic, but sure is funny!
@prologic yes, always do your best, and try to excel yourself. That’s key. Of course, that’s not to say you may not look unto others, to drive yourself further. But letting that get toxic ain’t good.
@prologic the doctor is pretty much saying Churchill can drink alcohol as his heart desires. LOL. A doctor is granting him a license to drink alcoholic beverages. 🤣
@prologic one has serif font, the other is full in monospaced. But other than that, they are the same.
@carsten I am never in competition, and am happy when someone else’s makes it, and it’s successful. I do my best, but not trying to beat someone else.
@prologic no, read ~duriny’s twt (#3ty55tq). They came across something odd, but we are not sure if it relates to caching or something else.~
@prologic it reads:
> This is to certify that the post-accident convalescence of the Hon. Winston S. Churchill necessitates
the use of alcoholic spirits especially at meal times. The quantity is naturally indefinite but the minimum requirements would be 250 cubic centimeters.
@carsten I am guessing some server side CGI, possibly just shell, or PHP. But almost sure shell.
@carsten good, you had @prologic worried for a little there! 😅 Now we know you are not an impostor.
@<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt> no biggies. I fetch feeds every minute, that's why you see twts on my pod sooner than on twtxt.net. I also keep a very long cache. Like, really long. I really don't know what's going on.
@<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt> I don't think the minor difference has to do with it. I will update to main right now, it will not change the outcome you noticed.
What a doctor to have! 😂
Dr. Pickhardt note for Winston Churchill
@carsten now I am hungry, see what you have done?! LOL. Hmm… I will have some mac and cheese, with bacon bits. Will drink a chamomile and mint tea afterwards, to keep all that grease in liquid form. 😂
@movq pretty cool! TIL. That's one tidbit I didn't know. So, your space bar is made out of conductive plastic, I mean, isn't that supposed to be an oxymoron?
@carsten ain't that a beautiful thing? You know, when everything falls into place, and just works? :-)
It is not a good idea to have preferences, nor opinions. They might give you hope which will, irremediably, end in despair. Just drink the kool-aid; take the blue pill.
Keep drinking that kool-aid. 🤣
@adi I get it, I get it. You are hopeless.
@adi I mean, you hope mkws is adopted by others, right? You want (hope) people to use it, and also want (hope) people who use it donates. Are you being realistic, or hopeful?
@adi I can see how far that got you, mate. 🥲 Hope is the last thing you lose; without it we ain't shit. It has nothing to do with being realistic. You can be both; you must be both.
@prologic it wasn't a comment intended to make anyone feel bad, but someone has to be the party pooper. That's me this time 😅 (not all the time!). That's why I am reluctant to move unto including other shinny things, and would rather get what's in-place working great before moving on.

Maybe it was a bleep on your pod. It is just odd.
@adi, well, most of us aren't feelingless robots. We set expectations, longings, and build momentum on things we enjoy and like. In my case MMORPG has been one of those. I am not alone, but surrounded by millions!
@prologic well, stop using broken software, mate! 😜
They can't. The only common thing is that they are using new.css. @<~duriny https://envs.net/~duriny/twtxt.txt> took a stab, but I think it missed. The identity on GitHub and bdn.sh is "bdn", not "nemic".
As you can imagine, things like these drive me nuts. It is something you expect to work as intended 100% of the time, without failure. We are not painting portraits by hand, where each is different from previous, right? 😅
@prologic to answer your question on IRC, no, I don't follow her. Matter of that, that twt, https://twtxt.net/twt/xa4qqpa, doesn't show here https://netbros.com/twt/xa4qqpa. It is a 404.
@prologic it cannot get easier than 1Password. Wife here had similar reluctancy to use it. I ended up adding the entries she needed, sharing the ones in common—that is, doing the homework for her—and now she simply has everything she needs. Done! :-)
See? I told you @xuu will get it! It is the American pronunciation, "See you lator, Navigator! 😊
@carsten disappointment always occurs on MMORPG games. If you have ever played Activision Blizzard games you would know. Waits, timeouts, and crashes on first day/week comes with the genre.
@prologic we still have a problem with nick management for people with the same nick, but on different places. You keep replying to @carsten, not @carsten.
