Oh, dear. I have to learn C# now. And I think, Razor, Blazor .... stuff. Next project I am assigned to. The ditched the whole Python thing because of, reasons??? 🤷
I am pleased to announce that I received new glasses. Still a bit different to wear. New frame of course too. But, everything is now very sharp, and I can already feel that my eyes are much more relaxed.
@prologic This looks like twtxt
It is a bit strange. When I view a YARN thread, I cannot reply. I always get an Error 400.
@prologic Bloody Hell x2 - yes it is!
So many SPAM users lately. And all they post are links to obscure websites.
Playing GBA Pokemon Emerald on the Switch - ALL DAY LONG!
@eaplmx Sorry for late reply. That is wttr.in
@mckinley Yes in the end I did sth like that. Which was then easier than I thought.
@lyse Sorry, but those photos are private holiday ones. Maybe I will upload some without people
@lyse I hope everything is working now again. My Provider had some issues while upgrading from 300 to 450MBit this month.
Tonight: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince in Concert.
@prologic there is also a good test driven development document

Learn go with tests https://quii.gitbook.io/learn-go-with-tests/
@prologic I am
Offering help as well. If that is needed. I think I am quite good now in running all kinds of things through docker, if that is something you want.
After making the Switch a device which can actually play GB, GBC, GBA, and other Games, it is time to go a bit more retro. I ordered a miyoo mini v3 v2 and I think I will put this onto it.

https://github.com/OnionUI/Onion/wiki/Installation
I hate this docker service on the Asustor - mega hardware, but poor software implementation. Ah I wish I had waited for the Synology....
@eaplmx Fast yes, the visualization is from http://wttr.in
@prologic If you mark them "written by" I would not think that. It is a big tool to play with.
@prologic Welcome back!
Me also still fighting with restarts of the NAS and not all containers coming up right.
@prologic Welcome back!
They are already speculating about the dynamic island available to all iPhone 16 models. So, September it will be to wait for.
@lyse Me too. But actually today it is not that much raining anymore. Yesterday we had a lot of rain. But wife is sick and sleeping. So I enjoy a silent house. Printed something for my Switch and playing some good old Pokémon while sorting and exporting photos.
Mmhh I thought I can use SONARR to automatically download news shows from the state funded public tv channels, but no, I can't. That's a bummer. Looking for another solution now. Maybe some rss downloader running in the background? TubeSync is nice, but only for YouTube.
Can ChatGPT write BlogPosts and translate them into German? See here https://cbrueggenolte.de/ts/O2YaA2vvXp/
I like paint.net much more than Gimp. For easy tasks, it is the better product.
Good Morning Everyone. What a beautiful day. Storm, high wind speed, rain, a closed main entrance because of falling tiles from the ceiling, a wet entrance because of a "forgotten" ceiling after the ceiling where tiles fall off. Amazing!!!

@justamoment Invitations is much nice. We just met with a new colleague of mine. I took the chance to drive up to him with the bike and then we drove back to my place together. So he knows the way. Very nice weather for that. Was super nice. Had a coffee, some waffles, played two rounds of Mario Kart and then he left for some more biking and grocery shopping (yes, all supermarkets are open on Sunday in NL). Was much better than just texting all day long. My parents had to learn that the hard way, but they adopted and video over Signal is much better now. The relationship with them also got better.
@justamoment I do like to take calls. I like that. I call back asap if I cannot take it. People don't understand, that message is like a postcard/letter. Fire and forget and will be answered when time is available. A call is something I would use if I need immediate answer. But these days, oh my gosh!!!!!, people ask me to send them a text before calling them. It would be nice to know... what the FUCK is wrong with them. I don't care. I just call. If they would rather not pick up, that's OK. I try two more times, in a 5-minute range, then I send text to give me call asap!
Back-Online - my provider decided to only hand out IPv6 addresses for a couple of hours. What a pain. Now, I do not have an IPv6 but my old IPv4 again. It is super strange these days. About 3–4 months ago, their mobile-part got hacked and data leaked. Maybe they are trying to fix stuff and closing down and fixing services. I don't know. All I can say, that download speed is fine, but ping is bad sometimes throughout the day.
@abucci that is not nice. But maybe helps. I don't know. I use ChatGPT to give me programming examples and help in starting to write a bit of code with a lib I don't know. For example, with Python and Markdown Library and how to configure markdown extensions. That actually worked really well and much better than any 20 min Stack Overflow search.
@justamoment We also thought about that solution. Try to introduce friends and familiy to something new that is just important for you when you want to share something with them. Think about how hard it would be to convince them. Most of my family and friends will tell me last time, why I do not share things on Facebook with them, as everyone is there, and I should not make such a big deal out of it.

Then I did send out emails with one image and a link to a PDF. This was OK, but some of them said, the PDF took so long to load on their smartphone. Yes, some of the PDFs with images in were 80-100 MB big. It is complicated, and it all gets down to the point, where we, FOSS and more privacy focused people are left out, left behind or not getting informed when something happens in the family. I just don't care anymore. Only a bit...
@abucci What a web 1.0 website he is running....
My Dashboard is looking good so far.
I hope @prologic doesn't mind that I took the opportunity to add the yarn.social logo to the ultimate https://github.com/walkxcode/dashboard-icons/ repository, so it can be retrieved automatically. Sorry for not asking 😔
@prologic a bit late but DONE! https://git.mills.io/yarnsocial/app/issues/144 😁
@justamoment ja schon, could be. But my wife might be right with "When people have to enter username and password to view something / even when it is only once, they might not go and take a look"and currently, the fucking Basic Auth is not working... and I have no idea why.
@notvantablack Hello and welcome to my Yarn.Social Pod. Make your self at home and have a look around. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask. :-)

Maybe you want to start following some people? Take a look at my follower list here https://yarn.zn80.net/user/carsten/following.
@prologic I don't mind. Will do when home and I do not forget.
@tkanos depends on the host to keep them or not. Better delete them. They will always find ways to share their data. Unfortunately...
@prologic Not that I know. Will check my wifes mac when home.
@prologic I thought about that for my self, but yarn does not understand the concept of private posts, or hidden posts.
I want to use it for travel logging for friends and family. I might spin up another instance under a weird subdomain name and sent that to friends and family to follow along.
@prologic I used hedgdoc as well. But, hedgedoc is not usable from iPad or iPhone. From mobile I cannot post images, cannot edit text - even with a keyboard attached. I wanted to use hedgedoc last year for vacation and travel log for friends and family. But not being able to post from mobile made me setup my own mailing list https://lab.uberspace.de/guide_listmonk/
From the website, logged in as 'carsten' I can post to all my feeds. But I can only edit the one with my name on it.
@prologic You start a new post. Type something. Then you tap on the Post as box to get the drop-down menu. Select the pre-selected user or just select nothing. Now click on the post-button. Only the spinning wheel animation starts not more.
When posting with a different name, is there a way to delete or edit that txt?
think found a bug: when choosing a post as name in Goryon, the post cannot be send when the initial user is selected. Can someone verify that?
iOS client.
Good morning from a warm 10° C Den Haag. Going to work by Bus. Calm and no one is coughing, yet!
United24Media: "Manipulating Information: The Air Force's Response to Media Reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are Shooting Down Cheap Drones with Expensive Missiles

The press secretary of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ignat, explained why it is incorrect to compare the cost of UAVs and weapons of the Air Defense Forces, as the New York Times did.

"Shahed" carries up to 40 kilograms of explosives. When it hits a critical infrastructure object, a fire breaks out and people die. Let's calculate how much damage a drone can cause and how much an anti-aircraft missile that is launched costs.

Ignat noted that if there is a threat to human life, the Armed Forces will make every effort to preserve it. The spokesman also stressed that the missiles used by Ukraine are expensive, but the Armed Forces will continue to use them and raise aircraft for self-defence."

I thought this for myself. Buildings, Lives are more valuable than a stupid rocket.
@justamoment Ha. I just tried it and it is hack'n'slay from the early days. Very nice. I like that. Early Diablo Days. Dies already on beast mountain 2 because I increased speed a bit and, yes, gba was faster than me :-)
Have a nice evening! How awesome! That I can still experience this. I just found out that I can stream "Pocket Casts" to my Sony HT-XT2 via Chromecast when I put it on the HT-XT2 on Media Server. Awesome!
Sidequestion: currently I am running a TiddlyWiki for myself with private and public tagged posts. The intention was, to make non-private tiddlers (posts) public at one point in the future. Now I have found https://github.com/usememos/memos whis looks really nice. If I find out how to skin it a bit to have wider text, I shortly thought about switching over. No InterWiki Links so, but that is doable by linking manually.

What do you guys think of this?
@justamoment never heard about it. I maybe give it a try when I am finished today with mkcert
@abucci It is still a stupid war started by a stupid man with wrong thoughts.
@xuu Yes, I do know. I have already seen one in action.
@prologic Here it is https://git.envs.net/cblte/docker-stuff/src/branch/main/syncthing.md have a look. This is how I have created the two syncthing containers.

Instead of mapping multiple volumnes, I have just mapped two locations where the actuall user (set by PUID and PGID) have read and write permission. This way they can write data and you can also access the data on the NAS itself, but limited to the individual user or admin, of course. Please let me know if you need any clarification.

One warning: when you disable global discovery, you have to set the IP of the devices manually on both sites. I was only able to get a connection doing it this way because of the non-standard ports.
@prologic Sarcasm of course. Sad, sad. More? Here you go https://www.nzz.ch/fotografie/schneemangel-in-den-alpen-die-bilder-ld.1719448?reduced=true
@all Why is that, the yarn kicks me out of logged in status after like 30 minutes of inactivity? That is a really short timeout for a session, isn't it?
Climate Change Does Not Exixts!

In Filzmoos (Pongau, Austria), the fire brigade had to respond to a wildfire on Monday afternoon. A 1,000 square metre patch of grass caught fire in the ski area. People smoking in the the ski lift have dropped their cigarettes onto the dry grass which caught fire. However, the fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured.

Think about it: dry grass in winter caught fire because of a cigarette! In WINTER! In Austria!
This is good news https://archive.ph/Me2HX (Financial Times Archived)

> Turning the tide in Russia’s war on Ukraine
> Goal for 2023 must be to give Kyiv the means to end the conflict on its terms

But the hardest thing is probably:

> It is important for Kyiv to continue to command the high ground, pressing its soldiers to adhere to the rules of war and avoiding glorifying, like Moscow and its propagandists, violence and slaughter.

This is important. Don't get too greedy, and don't commit war crimes. Even if you hate them so much. Don't act like the Russian Troops or Wagner PMCs acted in Bucha and other places
@prologic I don't know. Telegram groups are going crazy. Pro RUS accuses own military of being stupid to use mobile phones, Pro UKR celebrates fiercely because of killings of many "orks". From here, the observer from afar, it is hard to observe. Also all the RUS propaganda and what they say in the Russian state media. Crazy people in Russia. A country that has been indoctrinated for so long. It's so sad to see. However, there are crazy people everywhere. Also in Ukraine and also in Germany. Just look at the shit that was caused on New Year's Eve: Luring rescue workers into ambushes in order to bombard them with fireworks.
@prologic AH, no worries, probably already a long day for you and fresh day for me; Just got up and have first coffee. RSS: Jap. feeds is an RSS aggregator and exactly what I meant when talking about RSS.
@movq When I quitted WhatsApp I went to Signal and this works really nice. You also have a native Desktop App and no outages so far. You can create bots for automation, which is a bit easier with Telegram, but hey, you can do that (Octoprint I hear to calling for filament change :-))

With Signal you can also donate if you like and help keep it running. For most people the stuff has to be easy. XMPP is not, Matrix is ok, but you need to create an account which is for some users a hassle, "abother account, again?" (they don't realize that Signal, Whatsapp is also an account, just their phone number is the username, but it is seamless in-transparent process to the user how it is done), Synology-Chat: You can provide credentials for them. The problem is see is, people want to share things. And when it comes to share stuff outside the eco-system, most people have bad experience or don't know how to do it as sharing to others it often hidden behind a second or even third screen tap.
None of the claims could be independently verified, but even the lowest number would represent one of the worst Russian losses in a single episode in the war, and an embarrassment for Vladimir Putin, the Russian leader. Pro-war Russian bloggers and some government officials said the debacle was caused by the military’s own mistakes.
Big picture: More than 10 months after an invasion that many expected would produce a quick Russian victory, each side has suffered more than 100,000 killed and wounded, by Western estimates, and the war has become one of attrition, with no evidence of an end in sight.
New York Times:

Ukrainian strike kills scores of Russian troops

In a deadly attack on New Year’s Day, Ukrainians used American-made long-range HIMARS rockets to kill dozens — and perhaps hundreds — of Moscow’s troops in the occupied city of Makiivka, in eastern Ukraine. The strike prompted outraged Russian war hawks to accuse their military of lethal incompetence.
The attack killed 63 troops in a building housing them, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. A former Russian paramilitary commander in Ukraine, Igor Girkin, wrote that “many hundreds” were dead and wounded. Ukrainian military officials said it appeared that “about 400” Russian troops had been killed, though they did not explicitly take responsibility for the attack. 1/2
@prologic But how do you want to implement a two way bridge when users are only on one side? How should the conversation history look like? And the big question is, is this sth people want? I would not need it. Unless maybe on rare occasions, writing to some one who is on mastodon. But I think twtxt is good as it is.
@prologic But how do you want to implement a two way bridge when users are only on one side? How should the conversation history look like?
@prologic Exaclty, how many services do you want to support? I don't know. I was thinking about putting mastodon auto post into my blog every time I create a new post to mention it on the other side. Much easier would be adding a line of text to a text file to be subscribed to. But for that, there is already RSS. And to be honest, I think the way for crossposting should be over RSS. A service subscribe and then posts to different services.
@movq maybe you should ask your family what they want? Why for example is Signal not an option to you? Or Threema?
@justamoment I never played Crash Bandicot. But surprisingly my wife loved Ratchet and Clank as much as I did. The GTA series was also one I played a lot. Pokemon is just a game you can start, play a bit, an hour or more and put it away anytime you need to. Thats why I like turn based games a lot. In the past Battle of Wesnoth, Battle Isle, Battle World: Kronos, Faster Than Light, etc. you name it. Sanctuary RPG
Day 314 of the Russian war against Ukraine.
@prologic you mean crossposting?
@lyse yeah that’s what they say. it is nice but the permission thing really drives me crazy. that’s why I ran podman on the MacBook. it is a bit easier but uses more resources because of the extra machine. the other problem is, that I have no clue what to search for when something is not working. „can‘t access webinterface of container xyz“ does not say much about the issue. And video course or Books that I read never really mentioned these scenarios. Docker for me is a lot of trail and error.
@prologic yes that’s right.
@bender you are right. ;-). still in twitterland some times. thanks for correcting that.
@justamoment I started old Pokémon Games had Black 2 on NDS and the other ones on 3DS and Switch. never played the old ones. GBA and RetroArch are really nice. I can play a short time and do not have to download hundreds of gigabytes.
@lyse oh I played a lot in the past. CS:1.6 in the past in a Clan, WoW and Euro Truck SIM 2. and more than a 1000 hrs in Factorio. still running.
nowadays with so many things in RealLufe and Work and with a house, gaming is rare. that’s why I only play on easy these days. I enjoy the story and that’s it 🤣😂😅
@abucci I have to do this for my homelab. Will let you know the next days how it worked out. There is also a nice piece of software to do so: https://smallstep.com/blog/build-a-tiny-ca-with-raspberry-pi-yubikey/

But never tried.
@prologic
I got it! syncthing 3 way synchronize without global announcement. Acces on LAN and via Tailscale VPN. Also Setting the NAS as introducer on the individual devices and the lan IP with port (e.g: tcp://10.0.0.10:22000) and the Tailscale IP with port. The port should be the one you expose out of the container which’s internally mapped to 22000. You set these IP instead of the dynamic entry in the advanced tab.

I can give you the docker-compose file tomorrow. I am
typing this on my phone right now and do not have the ability to copy such along text.
A new blog post https://cbrueggenolte.de/ts/oaoOrGYLe1/ (german)
Finally. After a long trail and error, I found out that the linkding container had an issue with file rights from a previous try. The container set internal a user of 33 with group 33 which does not exist on my machine. So, it was unable to create a database. It was a bit misleading, as the SQLite file has an initial size of around 240kb. But now, permissions are working, container has correct PUID and PGID env variables and I con continue. One hour troubleshooting; which also showed more errors and missing restart policies on other containers....
@lyse tchncs.de is offering a minetest server to play for free or host one for yourself
@prologic there is also disroot, tutanota.com, autistici.org
@movq I found a site which lists a lot of alternatives https://cellularnews.com/mobile-apps/secret-messaging-apps/ maybe something you want to look into?

OR! If you have a Synology NAS, you could host your chat app from them. Synology offers a chat application with iOS and Android app.
Oki doki. Now that I have not used my Twitter account for quite some time and have been posting to https://nrw.social/cblte I am pleased with the feedback, the conversations, the reactions, and discussions I already had. Twitter was, even in the beginning, not that nice. Too many people, too many things, and if you ask something, even with 400 followers, it does not get seen. But I also should interact here a bit more often, right? But which "universe" to be used for what?
@movq I might have a solution for you: How about going to with Signal or Telegram? Or using one of the available matrix servers? tchncs.de / envs.net are good reliable hosts.
@prologic aaahm. you could just get an account with a random email forwarding from duckduckgo? Or you could use mailgw.com (which i am using for quite some time for some services) or you could just use apple auto email forwarding thingy wingy?
WE ARE BACK AGAIN!
Now running from home. From an ASUSTOR NAS with a 350 MBit fiberline. Hope it will be enough.
A new post on a new host.
While waiting for the newest 3D Print for my wife I am playing with the NAS and moving stuff. A LOT OF FILES!
@prologic sorry for that. Hope you can repair it
JUHU! Finally! The new NAS runs. Oh boy what a process. First I had to restart and redow everything three times. Sometimes things are not sooo super obvious and then you really mess up. Who decided at Asustor that you cannot move home folders off of the Volume 1? And Why are the Asustor apps so bad? Beside that, the machine, the NAS, is really nice. Updraded to 16GB RAM and I finally have NGINX PROXY MANAGER running. Now I can setup all services with nice names!
Good Morning everyone! We had an amazing weekend and two wonderful days in Germany. Christmas market, shopping for snow proof clothing and nice dinner. But, it is good to be back at home and able to sleep in your own bed.
Good Morning @cickjaeccoine Welcome to this POD. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Found in the internet!

The German word "warum" means "why".

The German word "wieso" means "why".

The German word "weshalb" means "why".

The German word "weswegen" means "why".

And now you're all wondering: "But ... why?"

Well, ... darum.*

Enjoy our language!

(*"Darum" means "just because" and is the shortest answer to every warum-question you can think of - and don't really want to answer. Actually, the same goes for "deshalb" and "deswegen" - but there's no "dieso".)

The next hot, horny shit? Quite simply: the smartphone!

The Verge writes:

> Everyone promised to disrupt the smartphone - and the smartphone outlived them all
>
> Even the things that voice assistants and AR glasses are already good at, phones can do better. Voice dictation works impressively well on both Android and iOS, and Google's Live View in Maps is already a pretty good augmented reality navigation tool. Snapchat on mobile lets you take better and funnier photos than Spectacles. Most of what the Metaverse promises is already happening in Fortnite and Roblox

The tech industry has realized its life's work in a smartphone. And there's nothing after that.
This. Is. Awesome! I do already have a use case for this. Oh this will be good.
Thank you Commerzbank. For nothing!

You make a real-time transfer to Commerzbank and then the money is still not credited after more than 24 hours! So, it is not yet visible in the financial overview. I feel that this is an impertinence.

The woman on the phone said: "There would be a small disturbance and now would be already weekend. Therefore, the money would not appear in the financial overview until Monday. However, I could already dispose of the money." It's nice to finally know that after being on hold for over 40 minutes.

Why is it called real-time transfer or instant transfer if the money is not immediately credited to the other account? It's just funny that it always works from Commerzbank to another bank. The money is usually already visible on the other side when Commerzbank still renders the website.
Another hobby beside the coffee machine. 😜
