Found this great introduction about Email Self-Defense
I think, I agree with this. But don't we write a blog/post/message not only for our self, but also for others to read?
Good Morning. Or better, good afternoon. Back to my #golang course/book. — I still find it hard to concentrate and learn something new. I might need a good project or task to keep me interested, I guess.
@prologic Thanks, that looks quite interesting. #bookmark
@prologic why do you need so much storage? But honestly, it is probably not much compared to storage that the big companies use.
Copying thousands of files from an SD-card to the SDD takes longer than expected. The /data/ddocker/btrfs folder had countless files. But now, rsync the volume folder and the sync should be done soon. Fingers crossed that my changes to /etc/fstab are correct!
I finally got the new case for SSD. Now I can move all the docker stuff off the SD-card onto the SSD. This should speed up the system a bit but. In addition, an SSD is much more reliable data storage than an 8-year-old 64 GB SD-card.
The wind is picking up again. Strange windy noises from the world outside my cave.
@novaburst Hello and welcome to the Yarn World
The Player That Changed Geometry Dash Forever - HOW on earth can you even beat such a color madness?
@david I see. I do not know any Flutter neither have I ever set up an dev environment for iOS development.
Me also do not want to move to another system. It's not only that I already spent quite a lot of money on, but as you also mention, it's the seamless hand-in-hand of hardware and software that I like a lot. Unfortunately, I have to use a Windows machine currently. But as soon I get my new MacBook Air, I will switch again.
@prologic HAPPY WEEKEND to you too
Sooo. I finally managed to activate my account on git.mills.io to create some feedback-issues. Now I will go back to my Golang tutorial… #learnToProgram
"Car on its side after collision with streetcar The Hague - In a collision between a streetcar and a passenger car, the latter came to a stop on its side." regio15.nl. The tram /streetcar is big and has a lot of light. It happens regularly. People do use their smartphone way too often.
@david I do not know how hot the coffee actually is when it comes out of the machine. It's an interesting point. I think I can use one of the fishtank digital thermometers to test that. If I remember, I will do in the morning.
isn’t it weird, that you cannot hold a cup of coffee because the cup is so hot that it burns, but drinking the coffee is no problem! #FirstWorldProblems?
Dutch warn system. The text is ok, but the sound that iOS makes is pretty scary! #strongWind
@david okeee. Our provider for energey (warm water and heating) told us, that we need to pay about 50 Euros more each month. Electricity on the other hand went down by 40 Euros and they asked us, if we want to adjust our rate to only 18 Euros/month!?!?! Sometimes I do not have to understand those things.
@david unfortunately me neither. do you know if there is a roadmap somewhere? or a document about planned features?
@david what do you like more with Obscura? Not the cheapest app but probably worth it. To bad that you cannot change the default camera app
@prologic #feedback #Goryon #yarnd website gives you an autocompletion hint when you type the -sign to choose who you want to address. I tried, but it seems the iOS client is missing this feature.
sure @david. when you click on a link it opens in a web view first. Would it be possible to change that or have a setting for it to set a default browser. does that make more sense?
@prologic I did play FarmVille a lot in the past. never paid for it, not proud of it. was a waste of time
@prologic #feedback #goryon When viewing a feed via the “yarn” button, it would be nice to open this in a browser or copy the ID, which is shown at the top, via a simple tap to have it for reference.
@prologic have you read the license agreement shown at 0:46? the last visible sentences are crazy. I mean, you would be dead, but if your money runs out your simulation is terminated. better donate money to your friends than this. There is also a TV show about such thing https://m.imdb.com/title/tt7826376/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk
@prologic @darch agree to this. I like the things people are doing to decentralize. that’s also a reason why I run my own yarnd and have it open for others.
@prologic #feedback #goryon #yarnd the website served with yarns shows the “yarn count”. Goryon maybe should also show this count somehow?
@prologic #feedback #goryon A setting to choose between “view with Goryon” or “view in your favorite browser” would be nice to have.
@prologic #feedback #goryon would be nice to have additional buttons for the hashtag and the at-sign.
@prologic #feedback #Goryon Uploading the same picture twice, generates two unique urls. Maybe a hash could solve duplication?
@prologic #feedback #Yarnd #Goryon How do I access uploaded media when I accidentally upload something and then do not post the text?
@prologic #feedback #Goryon does not come up with the keyboard when you insert an image before typing any text. To see the keyboard again, you need to switch accounts via the big blue pulldown-menu
@prologic a lot of times this is right.
Today’s TV program
Oh I should update, right.
Would you donate to Mozilla? https://donate.mozilla.org/ I think I will do it.
@david I do like Pleroma. It is a lot easier to selfhost it. But not using it anymore.
@screem here we are doing fine. fighting a bit with the storm. Preparing our garden for more wind during the night Friday to Saturday.
Into the art exhibition at the click of a mouse
The website digitalcurator.art shows the aesthetic way in which artificial intelligence can be used: almost 160,000 art objects from 90 museums in Central Europe have been digitized. Users can now view them in digital exhibitions that have been put together according to their own criteria or at random. And on top of that, there are exciting backgrounds from the database.

@prologic Someone at work said, that Elon Musk will now maybe calling his workers "Automates".
@prologic Not read the news about things happened here in The Hague or the Netherlands. I read some news about my home town and area in Germany. There were a lot of trees and others things flying around. And afaik no deaths, yet. Luckily. But there was a 50.000 people town with oout power for a couple of hours and of course, the Deutsche Bahn has a lot of problems. As usual when storms happen.
Good morning. That was a windy night. Wind speeds of up to 100 km/h caused a lot of trouble and it's not over yet. From Friday to Saturday, according to meteorologists, the wind should increase in strength a little more.
@prologic On my site, it does not render at all. I might have to add the hostname the the allowed list, right?
@david Fully agree.
Meta , Metamates, Me -- Yarn, Yarnmates, Me? He lost his mind. Instagram used it for a while. Will put it on internal discussion board and see what we will be naming our self in the future :-)
@prologic that would be so much fun. New browsers will arrive and webmaster all over the world using this stupid thing will get some headaches. Especially those, who rely on the UserAgentString to deliver targeted ads and special prices for iOS, Windows or Android users.
@mckinley this is so old, and still we have not learned from it.
I also forked and updated a bash script https://github.com/cblte/bash-script-wttr
@prologic We have some rain here, and it is a bit windy too https://windy.app/forecast2/spot/78694/The+Hague%2C+Netherlands+%28Den+Haag%29 (klick on the 'knots' to change measurement) or check out this page https://www.wttr.in/den%20haag (also available via curl in your console)
@prologic Good afternoon to you too. Thank you for adding it. How would I do that for mine?
@jan6 hello - welcome to the yarn universe
good morning. so much rain today. need to hurry a bit so I get a free parking spot inside.
I do use hedgedoc a lot. It is fast, easy to use and a reliable tool for me. #recommendation
@prologic There are so many great facts and explanations about different numbers. It is every time amazing and fascinating to watch or read about them.
I really want to look more into Golang. Maybe I should do more smaller projects, instead of a big one in the beginning? Somewhere I found this "test-driven-development with go". Need to look it up again and finish it, or better: start over!
A curated list of awesome Go frameworks, libraries and software. #programming #awesome
@david nono. I am still experimenting with it on envs.net. Here I played some hours with different CSS frameweorks. Tailwind, Water.css and others. I might be going with mkws if I am in the mood of setting it up.
But you also a point, why should I use a generator when I do update the page, once a year.
@prologic I really like the glider. And now that I remember it again, I might be using it for zn80.net as the logo instead of the CPU. The video itself, very informative and an awesome piece of education. Thank you for sharing.

I had a M1 8CPU 8GB 512GB one, very nice. But unfortunately I lost it to a not so nice guy. My wife bought a rosegold 8CPU 16GB 512GB one for her study and is doing a lot of Adobe work on it. Ps, Id, Ai and Figma. Beside that she is having all kinds of Documents open. PDFs in Acrobat, Word Documents. A lot of that is related to her study. Working with all of the programs open is about 12-16hrs. Sometimes a bit less depending on how much she uses Photoshop or InDesign. I highly recommend the 16GB RAM version.
@prologic He is a nice guy. I also do recommend Mark Rober. He is doing all kinds of weird stuff with chemicals and elephant toothpaste.
@david Thanks for the update. I really missed that piece of information.
Oh, boy! I as in the middle of writing a blog post about Shiori, when my wife called for dinner. After dinner, I fiddled around with the website a bit and two hours later I am finished with the redesign of zn80.net and the other landing pages! Don't get me wrong. Even while it looks simple, I tested out a couple CSS frameworks while ending up with my stuff anyway.
My wife got an M1 and is super happy with it. I will for sure upgrade next iteration with an M2 or just give her the new one for all things Adobe and take the golden-rose M1. Yes, she has chosen that weird color. ;-)
@david Good news to hear. I haven't followed those releases a lot as I am still working on a 2013 MBA. So I think I will renew my license with Little Snitch when I upgrade to a M1 or M2
@prologic I am with you on the selfish point. For the vaccination, I do think people should get it as we do for all the other stuff as well. But the "being selfish" is a good point I totally agree with you. I think the Asian people do it a lot better. When you are sick, wear a mask to protect the others when you really, really need to leave the house.
@prologic Oh yeah. That's a good one. Saw that a couple months ago. Linus Tech Tips also just released a video about this topic with his RED battery packs https://redirect.invidious.io/watch?v=Mkum7G-0vWg

@prologic The posts I found are all from 2020, just before the release of Big Sur(veillance?). https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/11/apple-lets-some-big-sur-network-traffic-bypass-firewalls/ for example. It seems that many other articles refer to https://appleterm.com/2020/10/20/macos-big-sur-firewalls-and-vpns/. Big Sur is one reason I installed pfSense. My trust in Apple has been slightly scratched since then.
@prologic but maybe I am seeing sth not. So I might be wrong about the differences. LS can do more locally, yes.
@prologic But with the blocking of unwanted calls locally, you are right.
@prologic with the new m1 Macs and Big Sur(?) Little Snitch can no longer work at the kernel level. And while I like Apple a lot, they haven't covered themselves with glory by bypassing the network extension framework for some of their own domains.
WTH: Comic Mono?!?! https://dtinth.github.io/comic-mono-font/
@prologic little snitch blocks things on your laptop. A firewall. PfSense is a firewall on the local network. Work similar. One on the machine, the other for everything in the network.
@david I think, this applies to everyone. When one does it, then everybody else does. The worst situation with traffic is actually in the morning around the school. So many big cars and SUVs.
Back at home. The drive was ok. But now I am quite tired. Driving in the morning is a better compared to driving in the late afternoon after coffee and cake. Resting on the couch now after a delicious dinner with Shakshouka
Yes you can call it that in one way. Not everything is bad, but blockchain and cryptocurrencies and especially NFTs are not my thing. It is a shady business and I know quite some people who lost more than a 1000 euros.
In the Netherlands we have a speed limit of 100 km/h during the day and from 7 PM to 6 AM it is 120 km an hour. Everybody’s going crazy and even the police is driving faster than they probably should!
And in the meantime I spent about two hours reconfiguring the tv channels for my parents. What a mess it is with satellite tv. 1800 channels and you only need 40 of them. Who watches all this bullshit tv with commercials?
I really hate old cheap hardware. I have an old WiFi repeater from a no name brand. I just cannot figure out, how to reset it.
https://web3isgoinggreat.com/ #Web3 is going just great...and is definitely not an enormous grift that's pouring lighter fluid on our already-smoldering planet.
@david @prologic nobody will come after you, but I also think that if you’re not the only one using a machine, you need more licenses. Computer vs User. I had LittleSnitch in the past, but do not use it anymore. Using pfSense now
After a long and funny evening, it is time to sleep. So happy that I was able to see my sister and her kids again. missed them a lot. everyone is doing fine and all are doing well.
@david no no no. most of them
just stand their. it is the inner parking spot for the houses surrounding that spot. And there is no rush time.
@david and it is even 200 years in front of Germany
Let’s Go! 323km to the destination.

Good Morning. Frost and ice over night. brrr
This *Störtebecker Baltik Lager* beer was a bit string. But maybe I am just tired. Time to go to bed. #goodnight
@david Exactly. This is why we also stay with Apple products. They are a bit more expensive when it comes to the initial purchase, but - at least for me/us - they do pay off in the long run.
@david The Hague was and will be always a bit more expensive than other places in The Netherlands. We have so many diplomats, embassies and government agencies and institutions, that everything is more expensive. And yes inflation is coming. This year we have pay an extra 50% for heating and warm water.
@david Now that you said it, the JS usage, it seems that he is doing that. And maybe your right. Own things might not last that long as github.com does.
@david It seems that he is doing that.
I have not thought about this, but Mike seems to have a point here https://mikegerwitz.com/about/githubbub. Maybe I should switch all my projects from github.com to my own gitea or to envs.net?
