@prologic Yes. But now we're first having April weather, where it goes crazy and shows everything it has to offer in just a few hours. One and a half week ago we had 25°C. Snow and sunshine alternating today and the next days: https://lyse.isobeef.org/waldspaziergang-2021-04-06/ I was completely covered in snow and looked like a snowman, one and a half hours later my jacket was completely dry again.
@movq Okay, not too bad then. Cool fix. What on earth is this dental floss? It's thick like a rope!
@movq How load is it in reality and what are you printing?
@lyxal Wow, nice scenery and pile!
@prologic You're going to shoot the easter eggs? ;-)
@prologic Thank you! Somebody stored some bricks next to firewood stacks in their piece of woodlands. I don't know why. This forest path is partially made up of tons of debris, crushed concrete, boulders, building rubble and smashed roofing tiles. So maybe they want to patch some holes? :-D
@ionores @movq I added a video and apologize for the wind noise. I don't have a dead cat to put over my camera. Unfortunately, the battery flattended and during change the grey heron had moved uphill way too much in backlight. As for insects, there are two water skaters, two (actually three) ants, three bumblebees and five bees.
@ionores @movq I reckon it was mainly luck this time. Hard to guess, but the grey heron was maybe 20 meters away at the closest point. I walked down a path and it came my way on the field. I slowed down and later even stopped. The bird probably noticed, that I'm not a threat and didn't care too much about me. My camera has 12x zoom.
@movq Waaaahhh, my eyes hurt. Yeah, this is absolutly crazy stuff. ;-) Not sure what's going on, but my Firefox complains about the webm files you twtxted, that they're broken. VLC plays them nicely. Doesn't happen with the linked ones on the HTML page.
@movq It often looks like our government's goal is to hope on a miracle to magically sort this out for them.
A mate and I delivered the easter egg kits to the kids of our scout group in three villages and I got a flat tyre. I had to wheel my bicycle home while my mate handled the last two kits on his own.
@prologic @movq Thank you! I wasn't quick enough to draw my camera, it looked even better when the mom with her leashed (! O_o) child were right in front of the orange sky.
@prologic Sorry, mate. :-( Just delegate to your kids. ;-)
@movq I prefer sparkling water, tap water tastes too stale.
@lyxal Looking great! I like the colorful rocks. Keep us posted on the progress.
@prologic Have a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to your photos.
@movq @adi Every now and then I use grep --color=always … | grep …
and then I'm super glad, that there is --color=always
.
@movq It's gotta be particularly great fun with mineral water crates. :-P Doesn't take long and you look like Popeye.
@movq Glad you had some fun. ;-) My mates also told me that this was a tougher one than last time. ;-)
@movq I bet towers are not my favorites, too, but in your case it's certainly worth the outlook. :-) And if you take the steps rather than the lift, you'll also keep a bit in shape. My previous office was in the seventh floor and usually I walked up in the morning and down in the afternoon. Sometimes even for lunch, if I was able to convice some of my work mates.
@prologic @anth I need to sleep on this, but so far it doesn't sound too bad.
@movq So beautiful, very nice! Is this the view from your house or do you have to go up a hill?
@movq Sweet! I have to check it out at daylight. Thanks for sharing, mate!
@movq Thank you very much! I agree, I surfed Wikipedia and came to the very same conclusion, that this is a common chaffinch. No idea on the exposure improvement. I'm too lazy to do some post processing, either I'm satisfied with a photo and keep it as is or I simply throw it away. Too much work to fiddle around with color correction sliders. I even don't crop them (only veeeeeery rarely). But it's definitely a camera thing. My dad's DSLR is often much better on this regard. But he also knows how to properly use it. ;-)
@prologic @lyxal Well, other people would have called the bomb defusers these days.
@prologic @anth Sounds good to me, but this comes with a pentalty on discoverability.
I cleaned out a bit and definitely should have worn a mask. Dust everywhere, I'm constantly sneezing and breathing is hard. After getting the pedestal out of the garage years later and put under my desk, I suddenly have 3/4 m² more desk space. \\o/

@movq I had a Sansa Clip+, too. It was a really great player, but I lost it in the rush of catching a train on my way home. It was never seen again and the train company's lost-property office never replied to my inquiry. I only found a single offering for several hundret bucks.
@lyxal These are some very nicely colored rocks. Too bad, somebody flattened your pyramid. :-(
When I returned to my computer, no space was left on the disk, because I had enqueued a huuuuuge video in youtube-dl. Luckily I could remove some podcast episodes, I had listened to in the woodshop.
@movq @ionores This is wonderful! We had a nice sunset today (yours is waaay prettier, though), but I didn't take a photo. When hiking in the forest, my fingers were initially too cold and later on it was too dark.
@movq I'm seeing some birds standing still in mid air using Rüttelflug, but they're usually far away and this maneuver doesn't last more a couple of seconds, since it's quite exhausting. I reckon that those could be common krestrels or maybe buzzards. A mate told me last week, that this bird here in the photo is a red kite and the description matches perfectly.
@jlj @prologic @mckinley Hahaha, these sites are brilliant, I love them! I agree, mckinley, thebest breaks with the original idea too much.
@movq Haha, yeah. :-) The geese are a really loud alarm system. 4 times out of 5 when you walk past them, they quack like crazy. It's very funny, the drake joins in quacking whenever the geese get going and stops when they stop. But he's fairly quiet, it's hard to hear him next to the geese.
@prologic @movq Yeah, but the guy would then know what I voted. Not that I knew him and probably vice versa – hard to tell with masks –, but this contradicts the whole idea of a secret ballot. Just wait on the real count, no need for silly forecasts.
This was the first time I've actually come across a guy surveying voters outside of the polling location for predictions. After refusing with reference to secret ballots, he reattempted: "But this is completely anonymous!"
@prologic Good question, I suppose those could be ravens.
@movq 2020-03-10 was my last day in the office. Since then I only had to go there a single time in April to pick up new hardware. Which year are you going to pick, @adi? :->
@adi Absolutely. :-( Well, next time.
@movq Hahahaahaaa, brilliant! :-D
@movq @jlj @prologic Maybe their minimal viable product didn't include a fire suppression system… But by far the best pun I've come across is still, that they're taking cloud literally by turning their data center into a smoke cloud.
@movq @prologic @adi I'm glad you're having great fun. ;-) If anyone guessed 9 or 10, it's wrong. They're actually hidden in 3 and 4. I added the highlighted solution as 36 and 37. It's stormy today, so I better stay out of the woods.
@darch I think you edited your last message instead of replying to me with a new one. ;-) Ah, cool! That's actually a very valid point, I never thought of the layering.
@darch I'm usually very bad at getting the right feeling of a webpage/-site if I only can see a static rendering of it. But I reckon I prefer the layout without the sidebar. What do you mean by permanent sidebar? A sidebar, that will always be visible regardless of the scroll position? I usually heavily dislike sites, that do this sort of thing, especially if there's "useless" fixed stuff on the top or bottom, which waste so much content real estate, so I strongly advise against a position: fixed
navigation. :-)
@jlj Some mates are using IRC matrix bridges and they appear to work quite alright.
@sorenpeter The first one 404s. Cool, I particularly like 24.07, 29.12, 29.28 and 30.36.
@movq Ha, very cool! I need to play around with this format.
@movq Nice! Having fun and tinkering around is always pleasant. And you learn a ton.
@movq Yeah, my grandpa and later my uncle were on a balloon voyage and they were stoked. My grandpa nearly landed in an open-air pool. The basket cleared the fence by literally just a few centimeters. You might like this German documentation on how to build one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpixZE4v9Fw
@movq This looks really terrific! What's your final thing you want to build with this?
@movq I never heard of this format. Are you using it?
@prologic Those tree cutter monkeys climbed around in the crowns like real monkeys. ;-) It was really fascinating watching them prune the limbs and branches. They first put a rope around the branch they're about to cut off with hand saws and then lowered them down to their collegues, so falling limbs didn't damage the roof or other structures. Good thing they were roped up, because the branches were wobbly in the first place and when the sawed off the ends, the branches rebound quite a bit after having lost weight. I was really lucky that I had an excellent view from my window.
@bml Wow, these lion's mane mushrooms look crazy! Totally deservere this name. Really nice.
@movq Back to good old voice control. :-D
The primerose family is native to central Europe, @prologic. The temperatures are all over the place here, @bml. A couple of days ago we had 20°C and today we were back to sleet. I have no idea what happend to the log, there are no beavers around here. I'm dead certain that lightning wasn't involved either. We hadn't any thunderstorms for quite some time. About two decades ago this tree was struck by lightning: https://lyse.isobeef.org/waldspaziergang-2021-02-22/19.jpg
@adi @anth Sometimes /etc/os-release or uname -v
will give a hint.
@movq @prologic Well, it can be done as demonstrated here. But of course Apple knows better what their users (don't) need…
@darch Not sure how I am supposed to vote. Doodle doesn't give me any controls. But both days are fine with me. No preference.
@movq Thanks, yeah the surrounding landscape is nice. But not so much the towns themselves. And of course I hide the ugly spots from all of you. ;-) Today was supposed to be very sunny, but the sun didn't break through the clouds at at. https://lyse.isobeef.org/waldspaziergang-2021-03-03/
@movq Good to know, but I probably just skip it further on. :-P
@movq Oh, didn't know that. Anytime I got there, it just was visually terrible, so I didn't bother any further and closed the tab again.
