@lyse hahahah! No ruining the day at all. You see, I haven't smell manure for many years! I mean, it is not something I look forward to do, but by now it is a strange smell, and I wouldn't mind experiencing. 😂
Sorry about your day, but I promise you: it will get better! As for the rest of your images, I like this one quite much.
Autumn leaves with dew
@jlj incredible, stolen?! How did it happen? The fellow looks mid-50s, maybe 60. Did you ever report it to the police? I have never lost a mobile, nor have it stolen, but it doesn't give me a good feeling just to think about it. At all.
@kt84 the best Christmas tree is an alive one! I sure feel different (it has to be the season's change), and celebrate turning yet another round around the Sun each year, but always found the chopping of trees as part of the celebration rather sad, and mean, and wasteful.
So kudos on a lovely, alive, Xmas tree, and tell your daughters they did a superb job! 🎄
Many of you might be too young to remember, or even know, that Alphabet once had a service (and application) called GTalk, that worked over XMPP, and that it was great. The company has made many bad decisions throughout the years, but killing GTalk has to be high on the list of worse decisions.
@prologic I say let’s do webmentions, and do it well, and that would go a long way to allow flawless inter pod exchanges.
If you are in a yarn and feel like digressing, fork it! When in doubts, fork it!
Just fork it!
@prologic where is it? I mean, which pod? Is it twtxt.net? And, why is it important to know who does? 😂
@thecanine you wrote "*It’d make keeping up with replies almost impossible.*" as the opposite of what it is now, having to often---and seemingly constantly---to click on each twt yarn, just to go to the same yarn you saw before? I mean, you even refuse to use web/mobile web! 😂
By the way, I have also hunt for replies from you because somehow (and I don't know why) none of your mentions are really mentions.
Gaudí's "La Sagrada Familia", Barcelona. The crappy camera I had, and my lack of skills---which have improved since---doesn't make justice to these buildings. One must see them to fully get their grandiosity.
La Sagrada Familia
@prologic we need one nevertheless, yes, but this change is no different from what we already have without much UI/UX innovation/change.
By the way, something like this already happens on *jenny*, for example. With *mutt* configured to show collapsed threads, sorting by threads, newest replied on top, the above "crazy idea" is exactly what you see.
@prologic ha! Yes, each time there is an interruption of service for a planned work, there should be a notification in advance to affected customers. Even mama's and papa's business know, and do that!
From #yarn.social
on IRC, a crazy idea I had on a different type of timeline:
- Someone posts twt A, it shows as normally on timeline, newest atop.
- Someone posts twt B, it shows as normally on timeline, newest atop.
- Someone replies to twt A, it doesn't show on timeline, yarn count increases on twt A, and twt A goes atop, as the latest replied to yarn.
- Rinse and repeat.
This approach will make the timeline less busy, and much easier to understand. What do you all think?
@prologic it is lovely. It is so easy to follow a fork now, I hope people will start using it more often. Forking add richness by allowing twts to drift, and form their own drifting topic yarns.
@prologic I wanted to list my points, so that other can weight in:
1. Availability: The self hosted mills.io services have a single point of failure, with limited redundancy.
2. Exposure: Self hosted git lacks of the exposure GitHub provides (thousands, if not millions of developers and users already in it), and adds an extra friction layer for collaboration.
3. Ease of collaboration: New accounts are needed to participate on self hosted git. Millions already have a GitHub account, without the need to creating yet another.
I feel like I am forgetting something else. I will add it if it comes to mind.

@prologic I truly not understand it. It seems to be using some old political satire for something else more modern---the "C user" seems super imposed on the original word, which I don't know what it was. A tad too deep for me. Perhaps @anth can shed some light.
@prologic "Many blame C users for the decline of this society--we take pride in this. Some believe that we intend to shred-to-bits this civilization and it's moral fabric---they couldn't be more accurate. We're often described as depraved, decadent and revolting---but oh, they ain't seen nothing yet".
@ullarah do you know of any other mobile phone selling company that is doing what Apple just announced? They are introducing something very cool! Something I don't thing anyone else is doing.
@prologic nice! Wife brews her coffee the old fashion way: grinding the beans, and using a cloth colander to brew it. The result is a very strong coffee, almost espresso like.
Yup, there! 😊

Please unfollow @fastidious@twtxt.net
, as it doesn't exist anymore.
I am also looking forward to rename this pod to just netbros.com
, but that's a topic for a different conversation, as I don't know the steps required to do that and truly do not want to mess things up *again*. 😂
@prologic yes, main reason is because everything is so apart. But there are other reasons. We---and I am using the royal we---are lazy, and tend to carry a lot, buy a lot, which will not be viable to transport on bicycles. Also, because we eat so much crap that we tend to get fat, and going in a car is easier for fat people---and that, in turn, makes us even fatter.
It is ingrained in the culture, sadly. I mean, people drive a car to just get to a place that's a block away, to have a coffee. Finally, many cities are simply not designed to be pedestrian, or cyclist friendly. A vicious cycle, no pun intended.
@ullarah
> same expression I get when I have to decipher an email from my manager
Hahahahaha! Let's not get into that... 😬 Are all managers cut with the same scissors? 🤣
@thecanine all I see is a blank page, thanks to my ad blocker. Is it full of ads, you said?
@lyse hehehe, he was pretty much born with a mouse/keyboard on his hands. Funny enough, he is not into computing. I tried to tell him it could be a good thing, but he has no interest on it, and instead chose Finance as his university degree. 🤷🏻♂️
@prologic check, check, and ask for credit to your Internet provider. Tell them if they continue to suck you will leave them. 😅
@prologic that looks like cafe latte/cafe au lait, right? Either way, makes me want to have one too! Oh, and good morning!
My kid at 4 years old, mastering the mouse at my work desk at the time 😂. Also, old iMac as a bonus.
Kent at 4
@lyse that was so satisfying to see! Well deserved.
@darch must be nice! It is something almost impossible in many, many cities in the US. Owning a vehicle, and driving, is absolutely necessary.
Tulips at Keukenhof. Mum, and wife, loved this place. Me not so much, as I was forced to take pictures, videos, and so on and so forth.
Tulips
@darch ah, Autumn, my favourite season (Winter comes second)! Is Denmark as big on cycling as The Netherlands?
@thecanine ah, I see, OK. The unique formatting you use makes it a tad difficult to read what write. Kind of similar to writting *huge*, long paragraphs. But... if it works for you that's all it matters! 😅
@meff for you and I, mate. This week is barely half, and I can't wait for it to finish. I am out the entire next week, so that's the consolation.
@thecanine about your use of punctuation---because I don't know Czech and it might be different---I noticed you use a period (.) and a single return, type a sentence, and again a period, and a single return.
Normally in English, as it is in Spanish, we use periods to delimit sentences. Like what I just did here, for example, and delimit paragraphs with a visible space---like the one above this small paragraph, and the one that just will come now below.
So, could you tell me if that is different in the Czech language?
@lyse hehehe, me too! It is just so addictive! In different ways, we all crave for communication, and interaction. This medium suits well for that, and for me.
@thecanine I believe that's because having one canine is enough. Two is one too many, there can only be one! 😂
And... it is back in business! I figure it was related to a network outage, as everything was down, and now everything is back up. Again, I place the blame on the Coriolis force. 😅
@jlj we have 27°C today so, Winter. At dawn it was 12°C, a true---and too real---Winter storm!
Not even 20 minutes after being dropped off by the Über ride, a Tesla notification comes through on the mobile app stating the completion of service. D’oh!
Hmm, the Mills network is unavailable again. Can’t hit Yarn, nor Gitea. It could be mum’s provider’s connectivity, but I can still hit mine.
@movq I wouldn’t be able to keep up either! It is a good thing I was one of the actively twting ones, otherwise, ugh!
Yes, we were quite busy yesterday.
@ullarah have you tried ThRadio? It is based in Azuracast, but looks easy and painless to setup. I haven’t used it myself, so don’t quote me on this. 😊
I see so many people littering while driving: cigarette butts, bags, drinks, bottles, just plain trash, etc., without any regard. I truly pisses me off.
I am thinking on setting up something to post date/time, plate numbers, approximate location, and what they did.
@prologic I am! I am rather Dutch, though, so normally straight and to the point, no sugar coating. The world would probably be a better place if people were more direct. I know that here in the States people are not used to it, but once they get to know me is all good. 🙈
@lyse thank you for bringing me there! I have a very vivid imagination, so I felt as if I was there while reading your description. You live in an awesome place!
@thecanine nah, admit it, you thought of it, and then say "Meh, too much bloody work, let's just dump it here and be done with it." 😂 GitHut Gist is clean and nice. It is not great, it is amazing.
@thecanine use email for that. Or put it on a gist, or pastie, somewhere, and use the link. Come on, use your noggin!
@lyse wow, but that surely fresh, non-pasteurised, milk, right? I would love it!
When I was a child, I used to go on my bicycle to buy milk. The place was around 4km from home. I will wait, seeing the farmer actually milk the cow in front of me (my dad had given me specific instructions to watch out for "baptised milk", that is, to see if the farmer was adultering the milk with water), grab my milk, and drink the warn left overs from the bucket.
@lyse could you describe, if you remember, how did it feel there when you took the photo? Was it cold, humid, the smells, the sounds? I like it! I've been meaning to ask you, do you do any post-processing, any editing?
Keep them coming!
@jlj about the pod stoping to respond, right now twtxt.net is not responding either. Gitea at mills.io runs fine, so it has to be either Yarn, or the machine running it.
@jlj I am a sucker for skies, and clouds. I have hundreds, if not thousands of pictures with them, just because, well, I love the skies and clouds. 🙈
Lovely click, mate!
Going to turn in early tonight, need to catch up some sleep, and rest. It has been a long day. I leave you for the night with an oldie. Cheers!
Old vehicle
@thecanine what’s your website URL again? Now you have piqued my interest.
@lyse
> I was referring to Joseph Beuys’ bath tub
After reading about it, I realised that the question on you twt was pretty witty! 😂😂😂
A hippo and a giraffe? They are certainly up to no good, for sure. I wonder what they are planning…
Hippo and giraffe
@lyse is the height of a sitting man. A sitting, fat man. 😊
@eldersnake I like it too. I have asked to inherit it (though I will not move it from where it is). It weights roughly a tonne, literal, and without any hype.
My father in law bought this, allegedly jade, Buddha without realising how heavy it was. It was hell to move it to its final location! For the Buddha himself? He is in Nirvana.
The Buddha
@eldersnake I find interesting that they are all mostly IPv6. Hmm.
@lyse yes, I just realised I don't follow the OP (tiktok?), that's why it looks broken at my end.
So, the Twt Context link broke slightly. It doesn't go to the top twt of the yarn, but to the twt itself within the yarn. Reply to this one to see it, @prologic, and @xuu. It has to do with the fork changes, I am sure.
Like it happened to this one now---thank you very much! 🤪
@xuu it becomes headless. Or rather, it becomes the new head. It might not make sense without the previous context, but hey, I am betting on deletions not becoming the norm.
@prologic "😂 (no pressure) 🤣 /kidding 😁 (kind of) 😁" Hahahaha! I get it, I get it. We should and, thus, we shall!
@movq yup, it was in 2019. If only we knew then what was coming...!
@prologic the "neck" of the instrument is short. I think that is what it means.
@thecanine about "K9" being taken, there are 50 states in the US, not counting the special territory of Puerto Rico, so maybe it is still available in one of the states. Remember, every state has their own plates, and there can be up to 51 "K9"s. 😂
@thecanine K9 is certainly legal, and possible. So is "CANINE". Also a single character, like "X". Normally is 8 characters maximum, but my plate ("Imagine") has a 7 character maximum. It varies per design, and we have hundreds of designs.
One of my fellow Tesla driving friends has "LOL OIL" on his plate. My bother in law, whose name is Khanh, has"YOKHANH" (yo is I in spanish). Another friend has "DVUS1" (as in devious one).
As you can see, there is much you can do!
There is a beauty in nature; even weeds are often pretty. Images posted here lose some oomph. This one is 4032x3024 in size originally, and tack sharp.
Weeds
@thecanine
> Here the normal plates have to have 7 random characters and the vanity ones 8 and that can never be changed
The US is a completely different country. Like, you would not believe! 😂
Namely, not indecent, or vulgar words, or any play around numbers or letters to mean something indecent, or vulgar. In the case of "NUTTYME", for example, she frowned upon that it could be misconstrued as "nut tyme", you know what I mean? 😉 I almost didn't get that one, but I was polite, and seriously, and carefully, explained that it truly meant "nutty me". I must have been convincing, because I got it!
@movq
> And then what, can they say “no, that is not acceptable!”? Like … it all hinges on your explanation
Well, you explain it, but it is up to the DMV worker to approve it or not. There is a set of guidelines/rules (and limitations) to which you must adhere.
@lyse yes, you found a bug (@prologic). The alt shows as alt
and nothing more. All the photos I uploaded had nice alts. None shows. Sad monkey here. 🙈
@thecanine the browser is decent. I have used it in bind, when my mobile didn't have data, and the built-in on the car had signal. I mean, it is a car, not a desktop computer! Kids has used Netflix extensively, and I stream music in it while driving. But back to the browser... as good as any Android based system browser. 😉
This was from the day I brought her home. The interior was black and red leather, on sport seats (well, it was a Giulia Ti). Amazing pick up and torque. The Tesla beats it, thought, 0-60Mph in 4.2s.
Alfa Giulia

Alfa Giulia
@thecanine not rich by any means, even less by American standards. The Giulia was $43,000 and change. The Tesla was $52,000 and change. Both financed, of course (1.2% interest or so).
@lyse hehehe. When I went to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) to request it, they have to ask you the meaning of it, and I said it was for an electric car, you know, that runs on amps. The lady looked at me, doubting, and said "Ahh ha...". I told her that driving it made me feel as if I was high, hence "on amps" (like "on drugs"). She laughed and approved. 🤣
This was my Alfa. I loved her with passion! Sadly someone slammed against her back, while waiting for a traffic light change, and it was a total loss. I guess she was way too sexy.
Alfa Giulia
The plate is "Imagine", for which I pay an extra fee. Dollars from such fee go to feed the hungry.
The previous vanity plate on my Alfa Giulia was "NUTTYME" (as in, crazy me). This time, for an all electric car, I thought a little bit more carefully.
Tesla Model 3LR
Finally, Berlin is not to be left behind. Germany is a country we are certain to return, after all this mess we live in now has subsided.
Berlin
Sharing some of München's colours too, because it is, too, such a lovely city!
Munich
@lyse I I also try to avoid creating accounts everywhere. I am really rather selective. My password manager is set just like @movq's passwords, at 64 characters, with a blend of alphanumeric and symbols.
@movq those websites that silently truncate are the least harmful. At least they don't constantly bitch and moan about your password not being perfect, according to their standards. 🤣
Schneider short post on why he hates password rules resonates deeply to me. I use a password manager too, and have it set to generate really inhuman passwords. Coming across sites wanting to bind me to their own rules, arguably for _"my own protection"_, pisses me off.

From our latest trip to Prague, because @prologic wants some colourful images to show off.

All I can say is three things: I like how it looks, I love how it sounds (like, really good!), and I am terribly jealous I can't play any musical instrument, not even the easiest one---if there is such a thing as an easy to play musical instrument.
@lyse oh, like the lovely green, and the angle!
> Any suggestions for how I should name this new series?
How about "Chlorophilia"? The name will suit as long as they are all greeneries, right?
@prologic sorry, let me explain graphically. I am replying to your twt. Pretend the below is the Twt Context for this twt:
|--> @prologic > You’ve lost me there I’m afraid 😅
See what I mean?
@prologic indeed. I really love it! What's missing it would be more complicated to implement, I think. And that is, target replies to their replied twt within a yarn. Meaning the Twt Context would link to specific twt being replied to in a yarn. That would make Twt Content simply amazing.
@prologic about the promoting of the features, I don't see why not. They are very useful, working relatively well, and for any pod operator not wanting them it is an easy template edit to rid. I say they have matured, for sure. Features grow so quick 🥲! LOL.
