@thecanine well, the Soviets spent quite a long time there, when it was Czechoslovakia. Maybe you will drop them within the next 50-100 years or so. 😉
@thecanine ah, I see. Yes, there might be a few ways to "break" formatting. Some could get accounted for. Actually, most.
@lyse \n> Also, why would one want to reset a field?\n\nYou mean, change its value? How about nick, description, and/or URL change?
Say what?
@lyse \n> Otherwise I’d say for simplicity we just require that both key and value must be non-empty. If a value is empty, the parser would treat it as a regular comment and not a metadata field.\n\nYes.
@lyse my wife is Asian. 🤣 It is not only about re-enjoying the journey, but to reminisce.
@adi I never assume. That's why I ask. Looking at the code, it looks like there are templates involved as well. Again, I will wait for @prologic on this.
⚙️ https://github.com/github/copilot.vim#getting-started --- pretty cool!
@lyse she just takes a lot of pictures. And love getting her picture taken, so every vacation is a wholesome chore for me. 😅
@prologic what is expected to be at /path/to/theme? A CSS? Name?
@adi you need a modern OS. 😂
@adi 🤌🏻👌🏻
@adi dude, you just said it is "about 3-4 minutes slower than hugo" That is, like, super duper slow.
@adi woah! Your mkws is slower than molasses! 😅
@movq \n> both variables being customizable\n\nExcellent! And I agree on everything else, yes.\n\n@https://twtxt.net/user/prologic/twtxt.txt>\n> I think it’s up to the feed author no?\n\nNo if it is not made customisable. It is up to the client's author, in this case, @movq. ☺️
"My lungs taste the air of time, blown past fallen sands."
@jlj sorry! I am a mess, I know. 🤦🏻‍♂️
@jlj \n> I thought Arrakis was dead!\n\n"The spice must flow." 😋
@prologic that Cc: 😂😂😂
@eldersnake oh, wow, thank you! I would have never guessed!
@prologic \n> There probably should be a Manage Pod form to change the pod’s favicon\n\nSo, when he wrote emoji, he was talking about the favicon, is that it?
@prologic what was the change? He doesn't follow this feed, so he will not see my reply (one of the shortcomings, but also strengths[?] of twtxt). I took a peak and couldn't see anything changed, other than a newer Yarn in place.
@jlj Which emoji?
@anth thanks for the answer. You sure like it, and it works well for your needs!
@eldersnake cool, thanks! It was a nice read, and convinced me not to try Plan9. Still, very interesting!
@prologic sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite! Don't let them bite at all! --- In a whisper "but they might". 🤣
@prologic as @thecanine pointed out, chaos text---also known as Zalgo text---is simply that mess you see. The Urban Dictionary has some interesting definitions. But the usual one is "to invoke the hive-mind representing chaos. Invoking the feeling of chaos..."
@prologic hahahaha! Just testing Yarn/twtxt to see how it behaves with chaos text.

@prologic no worries. Disagreeing and cohabitating, regardless, makes us human. 😊
@prologic \nAbout self hosting? You cannot self host everything. Not everybody can do self hosting, nor is willing/wanting to do it. My iPhone works so well, because of the services Apple provides behind the curtains, services I can’t self host, nor even in my dreams. \n\nIt is Stallman naïve. ☺️ But… IMHO.
@eldersnake \n> Android functions perfectly fine \n\nLOL. Sorry, couldn’t help it. 🤣
@prologic that’s not happening. It is naïve to think otherwise.
@eldersnake “Ammonia cleaner” = “I am a cleaner”. 😂=
@eldersnake similarly from Apple:\n> The Health app is built to keep your data secure and protect your privacy. Your data stays on your device and is encrypted. And you are always in control of your health information.\n\nMore at the Health App page.
@prologic \n> It’s this privacy eroding business models that’s at issue here\n\nWhat is the solution then? Honestly. If there is one, let’s organise and bring changes. There is plenty of finger pointing these days, but no one is hashing and offering a remedy.
@eldersnake \n> but the fact it ties in with Big Tech.\n\nSmall Tech wouldn’t do it any better, right? 😂
@eldersnake somebody has to do it. Should the government be the one doing it instead?\n\nI am surprised something like that doesn’t exist already for things like poliomyelitis, tuberculosis, etc.
Death is that state in which one exists only in the memory of others, which is why it is not an end. No good-byes. Just good (or bad) memories.
@prologic because RSS can be consumed by a very rich biome of apps. RSS is a proven, feature rich web feed, pretty much supported everywhere. That was not the intent for twtxt, nor is it now, unless I am wrong.
@prologic twtxt is quite niche, like, almost rare (on Diablo III loot terms, it is like finding a perfect primal, that rare). So, most likely I would not.\n\nNow, I would be willing to pay a subscription for quality publishers RSS feeds. Absolutely.
@anth not trolling, and genuinely serious question: what advantages does Plan 9 provides that [*insert any UNIX alike OS here*] doesn’t?
@prologic for RSS I bought Reeder app, which is simply amazing. I have supported Reeder on each one of their versions, no regrets.
@prologic the problem is that quality content isn’t free. I already see drawbacks with this app, because they offer “curated” articles and blogs. In other words, hand picked opinions. Not necessarily bad, but that will not beat a big news company, with plenty of research behind the many articles and news they publish.\n\nEven if I don’t like Apple News, I think it is the best for the money one can get today, specially on the Apple One plan.
@jlj it looks lovely! Please provide feedback as you start using it. I already pay for a few monthly subscriptions, so am careful about adding another. I used to have Apple News, but didn’t like the format with everything looking different, and still plenty of adverts, so I cancelled it.
Are you in Oceania as well, or somewhere in Asia?
@thecanine Heineken has a chocolate flavoured one that's decent. I prefer Pilsen. By the way, our family traveled to Prague in 2016. Such a lovely city! 😍
@darch agreed.
@prologic were these two twts intended?
@prologic ha! I am the opposite. I store all my data in public clouds. 😂 But I am digressing. It seems location of the burger menu is dictated by the builders of the application without, seemingly, a standardised placement.
@prologic I bet you don't have the Google Drive app installed on your iPhone. Their "hamburger" menu is on the left.
@prologic yay, awesome! 🥳 And I can see it right away! Very good test too, right? ☺️
@thecanine yes, it is all broken. 😢
@adi yes.
@prologic I have seeing your old avatar for so long that I am having a hard time associating you with the new one. It's like someone hacked your account and set someone else's photo there. 😂
@adi, off topic, you might want to revisit your CSS. The very long URL on this twt breaks your web interface (overflows the boundaries of your set width).
@prologic Apple has made Intel nervous, and scared. Let’s just say they have encouraged the competition to do better. Intel has been slacking while basking for years.
@prologic yup, can see it now. 🎉
@eldersnake the M1 SoC family is not just for laptops. Likewise, the Alder Intel’s family “will span from desktop PCs to ultramobile devices with TDP ratings from 9W to 125W, all built on the Intel 7 process”, from Tom’s Hardware.
@prologic right but, again, how often? I still see his old avatar.
I wonder how often are remote avatars re-fetched, or checked for changes. @thecanine changed his over 3 or 4 hours ago, and I still see the old one here.
Arstechnica has a decent review on it already.
I can’t believe no one has mentioned this, but macOS Monterey is out—it has been since 10:00 PDT. Going to wipe and install this weekend.
@movq I have seeing more (don't remember where now), and wondered too. With the explanation on the original twtxt file format specification provided by @lyse it all makes sense now.
@lyse if you were hiking with someone who behaved like my wife, you would have over 1,000 photos instead. 😂
@stackeffect you need an empty line in between a quoted text, and your reply. Your reply (on Yarn, at least) came in the same blockquote.
\n> old stuff the streaming services don’t have the rights to stream anymore.\n\nThey are always available for purchasing (via Apple Movies, Amazon Prime Video, or Hulu, to mention a few). My collection of owned media is rather decent. 🙈
@thecanine I don't pirate. Maybe if I were to be where you are I would have a different mentality. I am not sure about the quality, or whether or not captioning is available on pirated media. We are way too spoiled with a minimum of HD, but more often than not with 4K. I can't go back. 😂
LOL. Sterlings are fine. I, for one, welcome our British overlords! God save the Queen! 😂
How about sterlings? Let's find out! £50.
@prologic I can smell the wonderful aroma! 🙈
@prologic Yup, there is an issue there (#462).
@prologic we stream 4K, and kids play their online games that require super low latency, otherwise you die. 🤣
Insane! 😂
$$$$$$$$$$$$. $$$$$$$ $$$ $ $$ $$$
Actually, neither showed fine. Hmm, weird. How about this \\$?
Testing with dollar signs. This will show fine $, but this $ will not.
@prologic \n> That is insane! This is Cable TV prices in the U.S?\n\nMy mum pays $270 to AT&T. That includes a land line, and Internet (70 Mbps down).\n\nWe pay $105/month for 700Mbps, and land line. We used to pay close to $300/month when we had cable TV.
@prologic yes, even if we were to pay for all of them, and add some more like Hulu and YouTube Premium, for example, it would still be cheaper than cable TV.\n\nI own a lot of movies and series, but they are on the cloud. Ten years ago I used to run my own video server (on macOS), and rip all Netflix DVDs (when Netflix was only using DVDs on the mail). Not anymore.
@prologic Apple TV+ comes free for a year when you buy a qualifying Apple product, at least in the US. Of course you need an Apple TV (the little puck).\n\nWe have Apple TV+, Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+, Discovery+, and Prime. We do not have cable TV. Since most services allow concurrent streaming, and account profiles, some of them we don’t pay, but share from family. Same for the services we pay, we share them with family too. ☺️
“Invasion” series on Apple TV+ is pretty good. I am hooked! It reminds me not to follow ratings verbatim.
@laz 🤣 Going for the extra lazy touch there, eh? 🐘
@eldersnake isn't that what capitalism is all about? They also have investors (as little as you and me), that are counting on them to do well, so their money---albeit much, much, much less---also grows.
@prologic the research, trial, and bringing a vaccine to market takes money. Lots of money. I am OK with them [companies behind vaccines, and medical drugs, etc.] making what is fair in return. I understand fair comes with a profit as well.
@prologic \n> Hey Moderna how about just give the vaccine away for FREE!\n\nI am sure millions have gotten it without paying anything out of pocket. I mean, my entire family (35+ members) got Pfizer's, and nobody paid a dime. I am getting the third booster next week, nothing out of pocket.
Thanks everyone! I have a slight obsession with the sky, and clouds. ☺️
@prologic sure thing!
@prologic will it be possible to set the time to 24 hours on Yarn? It so, how?
@lyse for a few, the dog got me confused with the use of "cursive". There is no cursive, but *italics*. 😂
Code testing:\n\n
bash\n#!/bin/bash\necho "Test"\n
\n\nAnd inline here, and inline there. Done.
@prologic it would help on addressing super critical issues. As long as it is optional, and controlled by the pod's owner, I don't see why not.
More compact now. Better! From 0.75rem, to 0.20rem.
And numbered:\n\n1. Test one.\n2. Test two.\n3. Test three.\n\nDone.
Bullets now. Let's see:\n\n- Test one.\n- Test two.\n- Test three.\n\nDone.
I very much prefer it like this.
\n> Blockquote test. The previous styling had too much wasted space (for my taste) at the top and bottom. It was 10px, I have make it zero. I am just typing here a little bit more to make the block quote bigger, to see how it flows. The end.\n> \n> Test.\n\nAnd bye.
> Blockquote test. The previous styling had too much wasted space (for my taste) at the top and bottom. It was 10px, I have make it zero. I am just typing here a little bit more to make the block quote bigger, to see how it flows. The end.\n\nAnd another small sentence.
@prologic will work on sending the non-feature breaking ones (as I have removed messages).
😂 I am testing a few things. Narrower layout, dropped "Messages", changed cards, and body background, dropped background on footer, and changed a little the verbose.\n\nOn conversations, flushed the <h3> to the left, dropped the linked hash after "Conversation", but left it on the description.
It is Friday. The fifth, or six days of the week, depending on how you count.
